Vieira jerked when she saw Rikka's hand. She knew it was not to lash out at her but it was a natural reflex when something neared her. Her jaw tightened and she took a breath while trying to settle the quickening of her heart. A hand usually meant a lash of some sort and while her gesture had been gentle and laid easily on her knee, her natural reflex was hard to fight. Her eyes closed as she soothed herself within a few seconds and opened to Rikka trying to look at her. Awkwardly, she turned her head away from the girl and stared to the other side.

It was hard to listen to Rikka's words when her training was so ingrained into her mind. She disagreed with the other coyote but could not find it in herself to argue again. She could only go so far with the disagreement and after that, she fell silent. Her fingers twisted as she cupped her hands together and resisted the urge to pull away from her touch.
