» this had to happen. xD

The bronze hybrid was lounging atop the boulder on his little hill, one paw draped lazily over the side as his head swum with thoughts of recent events. To say that Alacrity's arrival had put him in a good mood was an understatement. His nostrils flared suddenly as he registered an interesting stimulus--their brains were hard-wired to detect smoke even in trace quantities. Though burning incense and a lit joint hardly constituted the threat of a forest fire, his nose had been just as fast to pick up and hone in on the scents. He rose gracefully from his post, black nose wriggling as he sought to pinpoint the source. For the moment, he assumed Razekiel to be the responsible party.

Leaping easily down to the ground, he trotted around the central territory for only a few minutes before closing in on the cave from which the smoke emanated. The cavern was one he'd previously noted as unoccupied--perhaps Kaena's son had settled on a den? The smoky scent was thicker here and he couldn't register much else above it; whoever had settled inside hadn't been there for very long. Already the hybrid considered Raze a friend, and he assumed the coyote wouldn't be offended by his presence. As such, he moved closer to the entrance, pausing as he reached the gaping entrance.

He stuck just his head inside, tail waving behind him and tone fairly excited: "Hey, uh..." and here he trailed off as his eyes adjusted to the light and he finally registered the girl's scent through the spice of marijuana and incense. "You're not Razekiel," he concluded lamely, ears slicked back in apology as he back-pedalled out of the den. Though he was always open to the prospect of a new smoking buddy, he wasn't sure how she would respond to his awkward and embarrassing mistake. Only then did his ears sweep forward as he regarded the woman--he'd never met her before, but he couldn't help but be struck by a feeling of familiarity.
