He stood outside briefly as he considered her offer before slipping inside the den. The caves were roomy structures--even fully shifted he could scuttle around on all fours or sit comfortably in most of them, and this one appeared to be no different. The decision to take on a more appropriate form was subconscious and automatic--within minutes he'd completed the transformation from his form of choice (the halfling) to a fully shifted biped. Not that it made a huge difference anyway--he was planted quite firmly on his rump regardless. Typically Anselm avoided shifting in the presence of others; he also had a tendency to avoid getting cramped up in close quarters with strangers.
The woman was clearly open to the idea of company, however, and... You must be Gabriel's sister, he remarked simply; he scarcely needed confirmation, since her title betrayed her heritage and her eyes held a hue similar to both of the Inferni leaders'. Guess that makes us cousins... sort of I guess, he prattled on. I'm Anselm. We share the same great-grandfather. It was one hell of a stretch, but it had proven to be plenty in the past--he and Gabriel's interactions suggested a bond between close brothers more-so than very distant cousins. He shared no blood whatsoever with Kaena though he still considered her family; she was kind of like the cool aunt that let the kids sneak out in the garage in the middle of the night for a smoke...
He shifted around for a bit until he was comfortable, and the ultimate positioning of his legs left them skewed and overlapping--a messy and unravelled Indian-style sit. His back leaned against the wall and he was situated a little ways off from her side so that he could regard the outside world as well; to stare at her or the back wall of the den seemed like it would be more awkward. I can definitely hit you back later, he added. So where did the tides of life take you, 'cous? Did you hear about the fire? He was, strangely enough, chock-full of information she may or may not be interested in. He wasn't sure how much she'd been caught up on Inferni's history post-fire.
