The quiet provoked the coyote's wrath, and gave her more excuse to exercise her rage on the coyote. Once more, her scarred face drew near to the other coyote's, though this time it advanced far more slowly, certainly not another strike out at the girl. Her nose quivered next to the sanguine fluid dripping from the wound, and she snarled once more, another growl bubbling from her throat. "I didn't hear you. Aren't I good to you?" the coyote again asked, her voice dipping to a sinister hiss through charcoal lips drawn back to reveal dull, sallow canines, still deadly after a decade of use. The rage had overtaken the shame now, twin emotions exploding in her chest next to each other since Haku had his way with her. They were all she knew anymore, all else was forgotten or too fleeting to enjoy—the company of others was enough only when she was around them. When they were gone, everything came flooding back to her, and she remembered every moment of him with vivid and striking detail. |
