Cooking was easy, if she were careful. She'd burned herself several times before but she had gotten the hang of it rather quickly. The smell was delightful but she knew it would taste better if she had spices, herbs, or anything to enhance the taste. She felt the fish would not suffice the need of her owner or her expectation for what Vieira could do but she was working with all she had. She thought the next time she went to the city she would grab things, if allowed, but she kept this thought to herself.

Kaena made herself comfortable near the fire and Vieira kept her eyes on what she was doing. Mainly to be focused on anything but Kaena and so she didn't burn herself. The woman spoke and her eyes flickered away from her duty but it returned rather quickly. "Yes, ma'am," she murmured and pulled the fish back, using the knife to loosen up the fish from the pan and turn it over to cook the other side. She noticed she had not cooked it long enough on that side but she did not want to turn it too much for fear of tearing them apart. "He taught me basic things but his sister taught me more, how to make meat taste better and things to add with them that we do not normally eat," she explained.

Vieira felt her hand was a little shaky over the fire and she put her other hand on the handle to hold it up. There had been a sort of grill like apparatus that she was used to and she did not have to feel the weight of the pan after a long period but she could not show weakness. She could not fail. Vieira took a long breath and steadied herself, knowing it would not be too long before they were finished.
