Halcyon Mountain. My apologies for the delay. :/

The silver-furred hybrid crept beyond the borders of Inferni, heading for the surrounding woods. A thick blanket of white coated the ground, much to the hybrid's delight. She showed a toothy grin as she padded through the Dampwoods, twisting her head this way and that. It was late afternoon, but a gray fog had settled over the sky, clouds promising more snow for this afternoon. The air was crisp and sharp, and Kae inhaled in deeply, tilting her silver-furred head back and breathing deep the cleansing cold. There wasn't much snow on the ground, but perhaps if they got an overnight storm, it would remain. The last few days had interspersed rain with the snow, and it hadn't stuck well in some places. The hybrid hoped if it came tonight it would be pure, and the morning would bring a truly wintery world. It would seem cold enough, but Kaena did not know things like the freezing temperature of water, Fahrenheit and Celsius, and even if she did, she did not have a thermometer to measure these things. Still, it seemed the proper temperature.

The coyote hadn't experienced a truly cold winter since the last one she'd spent in old Inferni. The southern lands simply weren't the same, though her time with the Malai Ratree had certainly brought the cold and chill, it simply didn't seem to be the absolute cold of this place. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that 'Souls was situated on what was essentially an island, surrounded on all sides by water. The mountains offered little shelter from the breeze off of the ocean. She was anxious for total winter to settle over this area, and she was confident Inferni was prepared for the season. Vieira had gone and fetched extra blankets for the cave, and the hybrid herself was quite set as far as that went. They even had an extra for anyone else who might be lacking, though Kae had yet to find a recipient for that spare.

The hybrid headed up the mountain, trotting toward the area where she and hybrid had taken down the loner. The silver furred hybrid breathed, but there was no faint tinge of death on the air. The snow had blanketed it all, and perhaps in the spring when the world thawed, the body would continue to decompose, leaving the bones for Kaena to collect. The hybrid settled to her haunches on a rocky overlook, her ears pricked upwards, straining to catch the sounds of the surrounding wild. The snow deadened much of the sound and obscured smell to some degree, but with the cover on the ground, creatures of all sorts left tracks. The hybrid was not absolutely certain why she was venturing away from Inferni; she was in a particularly good mood thanks to the snow. She was not fearful on this end of the world; it was far from the reach of the chocolate-furred devil and his tricks. This was safe space, and the hybrid felt comfortable enough to perch here, merely admiring the new wintery mask of the world.
