That is because I am a vampire. If I was awake at the times that a normal person is, I would probably burst into flames. :[ Thankfully, I do not sparkle. XD Word Count: 572

Though the hybrid hadn't been feeling particularly sociable when she'd sought the seclusion of the mountain; this much was true. Since Vieira had moved into her cave, she had found it was more and more difficult to have her much-needed isolation time. Even then, once the coyote was away from the rest of the world and alone once more, she found no peace. Being alone meant she had no one other than herself to turn to, it meant her thoughts raged inward and she merely remembered Haku and what he'd done to her, so she was almost glad for this stranger, this distraction from her problems.

The pale gray wolf did not smell of Haku or his pack; indeed, her scent was one mostly unfamiliar to Kaena. She had heard of Crimson Dreams prior to this, but the number of canines she had actually met from the pack hovered around one or none. Naniko had mentioned the pack, but when Kaena had spoken to her, the pale white wolf had already been removed from that particular place, and though she'd spoken of it fondly, Kaena got the distinct feeling her friend my be better off somewhere else. If a home caused too much stress, it was simply better to walk away from it. Thankfully, Inferni had never been that way to Kaena, though lately she doubted her own ability to perform her rank's duties. She was a piss-poor Centurion, just like she was a terrible Aquila. Kaena Lykoi was not the steady rock that her son was; she did not lead Inferni for more than a year either time she'd held the reigns, where as Gabriel had been the clan's Aquila for the last three years and counting.

The wolf introduced herself, and Kaena nodded, doing the same in kind: "Kaena Lykoi," she simply stated. She'd already made it abundantly clear where she had come from; Anu had seemed to recognize that upon first inhaling Kaena's particular scent. The grizzled coyote's threat (or reminder, whichever seemed more appropriate) went without comment from the other canine, but her body language spoke words of neutrality and kindness, something Kaena could certainly appreciate. It was not within Kaena to extend the other canine a "good to meet you" or something similar; it was enough for the Centurion to simply remain where she was, sizing the other canine up in a manner indistinct from that of a predator sizing up prey. Perhaps that was just the hardened look the scars inflicted on Kaena's visage; it was incredibly difficult for one so scarred and beaten as the Lykoi woman to look kind and fluffy.

"Anything or anyone in particular you were looking for up here in this corner of the world?" the hybrid inquired amiably, more out of politeness than any direct interest, though she always kept her coal-dipped ears open. The grapevine provided an incredible amount of information, and the hybrid woman was eager to hear of anything that could be used against Haku, more eager still to hear of anything that caused trouble or hardship for the chocolatey wolf. He was her primary focus now; the hybrid was too cowardly and yellow to seek him out for direct revenge, so she contemplated other methods of sniping him from his post. The hybrid was yet unaware he'd ascended to the top rank in his pack, a fact that might have chilled her to the very bone.
