Times of peace were rare and generally short-lived; this made them all the more precious. Alexey didn't know how long Haku and his reign of terror would last, but it would be violent and merciless. Dahlians would never forget the day when the Lilium seized absolute supremacy from the Rosea. This change of leadership would carve the path to a different, unexpected future, for adults and children alike. Scouting wasn't her primary duty, but now that her protégés were all grown up, she had a considerable amount of spare time on her hands. Border duty was an arduous task; two scouts weren`t enough to effectively cover all boundaries, especially with one going through unexpected pregnancy. And frankly, the Rosen handling border duty on his own was none too comforting.

So with few capable scouts available, Alexey did not stray too far from the southern borders. Scouting was something to do on a bright winter day. Her initiative was rewarded with a stray puppy's scent, followed soon thereafter by visual confirmation. But she did not immediately assist the youth, temporarily thrown off by the rather surprising aroma that clung to the child's coat. It was most definitely canine and yet, there was something noticeably different about it. Similar to... Lysander's, in a way. Alexey had only ever encountered one dog in her life, and it had not pleasant. Although the charcoal girl was most obviously a wolf, her odor suggested that she'd come into contact with quite a few mutts. But where? Obviously, the golden fey had yet to encounter anyone from Cour des Miracles.

She edged a little closer, hesitating every now and then, until the puppy was no further than a feet or so. Silence compelled her to speak, but not before she took the time to examine the tiny creature. Although it took more than a few seconds for Alexey to connect the dots, the cub's familiar traits made everything clearer. Stunned at first, the Dahlian woman allowed an exasperated groan to escape her maw. "Where's your mother at?" Lexey couldn't help but glance over her shoulder, half expecting Svara to magically appear out of nowhere.
