There was a sudden change in the woman before her and Vieira felt odd. Kaena looked defeated, something she had yet to really see but she supposed it was not really out of the ordinary. She had seen the woman go from angry, in the moment of punishment, to soft that called her to sleep in the same bed with minimal touch. Her jaw tightened and she expected another change, some form of punishment (regardless of her actually doing anything) because she was upset. The apology was out of place, even, and it was odd to see Kaena bend to someone else almost like Vieira bent to the elderly woman. Vieira had little idea of the ranks in a pack but did not question it.
She almost told her not to apologize to her but she did not find the words or voice to actually speak. Instead, she stepped forward slowly and carefully, and inhaled the woman's scent. Vieira waited only a moment before she reached out and let her tongue touch the wet fur of the woman. It was not anything affectionate or loving in any sort but instead an effort to clean her up. It was often times something her former owners had her do and it was just instinct to dry her off from the rain that beat upon her outside.
Her muscles were tense for any lashing the woman might have if her touch was unwanted but her mind had settled back into its true shape after her interrogation. Kaena seemed less violent at this point and she had to follow her training.
