The silver-furred hybrid was beginning to crack, coming apart at her very seams. She had held it together somewhat over the past months, but now the stress and the weight of that terrible secret, the horrible thing Haku had done to her, was beginning to show through. She couldn't hold onto it forever, and it had begun to shake something that had remained whole and strong within Kaena. Her moods swung wildly; with the slightest bit of stress she could be shoved in a completely opposite direction as the one she was already moving toward. Her moods spun around faster than a second-hand on a clock, and Kaena was growing dizzy and tired of it.
The other canine took a few tentative steps forward, leaning in toward the grizzled hybrid. Kaena froze, almost fearful of the pale gold coyote as she reached for the scarred face of the Centurion. The silver-furred woman did not know what to expect from the Quintus, and she eyed the other canine warily, surprise and relief taking over her facial features as the other canine's pale pink tongue reached out to lap at Kaena's still-wet face, dewy with the raindrops still pounding the earth outside of the cave. A shiver ran through the hybrid, but she didn't move or speak, merely leaned into the other canine's touch, half-lidding her eye, finding it comforting and strange at once.
