512, and I had no idea where to go so Kae will go traipse out in the rain again to hunt for Viei if she wants. |: IDKKKK. 528, this post had to be edited once to change it because Viei reminded me wtf we were doing with this. |:

Normalcy was very slowly returning to the hybrid woman, though it was questionable whether she'd ever return to a hundred percent again. Something within Kaena had changed, and though she did not feel terribly different save for the fog of depression surrounding her these days, there was definite inconsistency between the creature that Kaena was now and the canine she'd been two months ago. Self-hate and doubt clashed with self-hate now, self-blame weighing heavily over the hybrid woman's mind whenever she considered those fateful events that had changed the course of her life. It would have been ironic that something would have altered her so late in her life if she were not caught up in it, living every excruciating moment herself. It was far easier to find comedy and irony outside of one's own life; observing it in others' was almost invariably kinder to the soul.

The pale gold coyote spoke softly, moving back and away from the silver-furred coyote's fur. There was something singing back to better times, the briefest month of Kaena's life when her mother might have actually attempted to be a caretaker to her four daughters, the times she'd been curled up in her own den with her own children with nothing to save and protect them from the world but her own teeth and claws. Being groomed brought these memories to the forefront of the hybrid's subconscious, eliciting a rather deep sense of contentment to soothe over the panic and anxiety that consumed the coyote woman, eating away at her. These moments of comfort were fleeting and few, and at the other canine's question there was a faint smile on the coal lips of the coywolf, shaking her head ever so slightly at the other canine's question. "No. You're very good to me," the Centurion responded.

She stepped back a bit, shaking her head ever so slightly. It was not that she did not wish for Vieira to clean her; indeed, the silver-furred hybrid had enjoyed it quite a bit. However, she was soaked, and it might take the smaller canine quite a long time before Kaena was completely clean, and it seemed almost tedious to ask her to undertake such a task. Instead, the ashen-hued coyote reached forward with her own nose, offering a brief, almost awkward nuzzle to the side of her face. It was over in an instant, and the Centurion seemed to straighten up afterward, though it was unclear whether it was for her own embarrassment or simply that the other canine's presence had calmed her. Still, the coyote seemed to have made vast improvement since she'd come home, as if the other canine's existence in and of itself was enough to comfort her. "You came around at a pretty strange time in my life," the hybrid said quietly, shaking her head slowly. This was as close as she had come to admitting her own problems with the smaller coyote thus far, and it felt almost safe to talk to Vieira about it. She wouldn't share Kaena's inner thoughts and private details; she wouldn't question Kaena unnecessarily, driving too deep at the more sensitive parts of the hybrid.

Thanks to Akumu for the table!
