Kaena did not know whether to tell Vieira in depth what had occurred; part of her yearned to spill every sordid detail to someone. She had told Halo, but the young woman had reacted in a strange and unexpected way—there was far too much hurt on the cinnamon furred woman's face, in her body language. The hybrid watched the smaller canine, her own voice strangled for the moment, caught in her chest. There was a strange sense of panic coming over her; she felt that she could not breathe. Her face remained rather calm, though her golden-yellow eye certainly revealed some amount of discomfort. The cave seemed to swell around her and draw near to her again, and it might have been several long minutes before she was able to calm herself into speech again.
