It had been a couple months since Hanna had been very far out of AniWaya. She had traveled to the borders and back but something always seemed to pull her back to the tribe's village before she went far. The last point from which she'd left the chain link fence behind her was in October, when she had gone to Halifax and found the little apothecary's store. She had not explored it much, though, as Kaena had approached her, torn and bloodied, and called in a favor to her. Hanna had not asked, and the coyote woman had not volunteered information. The medic had prescribed some minor antidotes -- comfrey, willow bark for pain -- and been on her way.

In the time between then and the present, Hanna had come to terms with the fact that she was expecting, had had the child, and now was wrestling with the idea of carrying her off to other packs. On the one hand, since Catherine's disappearance, there were no other young pups. Perhaps Dahlia, her main destination, or Cour des Miracles, where she sort of planned, a little, to stop off, would have youngsters for her nearly a month old daughter to play with. She was not moving perfectly yet, but the little one would learn quicker with those near her age to play with, instead of only adults.

Hanna had finally made up her mind to go ahead and leave when a voice called out from the borders. She was not sure who it would be, but the company would be welcome. She tied Désirée's sling across her chest, where the child seemed to love to ride, and walked out toward the stables with a spring in her step. She had taken to riding Gali often, and decided at that moment that she would take the mare with her, if permitted. Hoisting herself up, forgoing both saddle and bridle, Hanna squeezed her calves against Galilahi's sides, moving her up into a canter. The distance was not far at that rate of speed, and before long Hanna could see a chocolate form on the fenceline.

She waited until she was nearer before she broke into a smile; while she could not think of a conceivable reason for Haku to visit her, she would not have written it off as impossible, but the lovely lavender eyes of her nephew were strikingly different from his father's and set him apart from all others, at least as far as she knew of. Reining the paint mare in using a lock of her mane, Hanna dismounted and made her way to her nephew. As she moved, she spoke to him. "Conor! Hello, what a pleasant surprise! What brings you to AniWaya?" Belatedly she noticed the canvas bag so reminiscent of hers, left inconveniently at home next to the door. The woman had been in such a rush to answer she had not thought of it. "Here for a lesson?" Hanna beamed; she was pleased that Conor had shown an interest in healing.

Speak, think, act
