Her reply surprised Hybrid. Never had anyone been pleased or happy to meet Hybrid. In fact, most of his meetings ended rather poorly, and even the ones that ended well often began poorly. Most of his meetings with Samael began with one of them drawing blood and ended up with them having sex. He still wasn’t sure why that was — no, that was a lie; he knew exactly how it happened — but it was recurring theme Hybrid did not want to end any time soon. Thus, when Rikka said she it was good to meet him, Hybrid did not know what to say or do. Instead, he resorted to the only answer he knew: a gruff reply and an awkward jerk of his head.

“Yeah,” he replied, not sure what to say to the yellowish hybrid. Luckily, Rikka piped up again, effectively telling him nothing. No, that wasn’t true; Hybrid now knew for certain that was a recent joiner of the clan, though, one would have had to be stupid not to realize that. And Hybrid was certainly not stupid (or at least, he hoped he wasn’t).

Hybrid offered another awkward reply, not sure what he could say. “Err,” he began, then stopped. “That’s... nice,” he stated blankly. He was quickly running out of small talk, and he did not know how to make it less obvious. Perhaps he could ask her where she had been before? No, that wouldn’t work; he did not care. Perhaps he could ask her if she’d met Gabriel, or perhaps Kaena? Again, Hybrid did not really care. Her answer to either question would not change much, and he suspected she would not care to answer his poor attempts at making conversation. He tried one last time, hoping it would not fail.

“Have you met anyone interesting?” he queried, trying to sound interested. Perhaps she had met Samael. He felt the corners of his mouth twitch in amusement at the thought. She would certainly tell him if she had.
