They fought because it was required; Gabriel needed someone to push him, just as he needed a goat to take whatever abuse he needed to deal out. Haku Soul would hide behind his pawns as long as possible, playing a sick waiting game with the Aquila. One of them would break first and strike for the other, to wound and destroy and rend anything that would bring them together. By the end of days, Gabriel intended to have Haku’s head on a pike. Dahlia de Mai would crumble, and its leader with it. He hated the blue eyed wolf more then any other singular creature he had ever encountered before. More then his dead half brother, who had raped his daughter, more then the weasel that had once been his brother, and once he was able to, all hell would reign down on that bastard’s head.
But for now, Hybrid was his target. Gabriel didn’t manage to catch the muttered words, but his ears flicked, catching something. No doubt, an insult was made in his direction, but Gabriel couldn’t understand it and his jaw gritted furiously. Under his hind legs, the ice was sinking into his fur, making him numb around his bottom. Still, he did not rise from his seated position until Hybrid turned to leave. Almost instantly, the coy-wolf’s face fell, finding it unreal that his Hydra would abandon him for something so petty as bad mouthing him. And sure enough, as Gabriel stood on the cold surface and shifted, foot to foot, Hybrid did manage to make his way to the edge of the ice and onto the snow, where he was free to move freely.
And, staring at the reddish coyote’s backside, Gabriel’s amber eyes narrowed and his ears fell back. “You really plan on walking away from me?” He called out, stranded on the ice. “Help your Aquila, Hybrid. That’s your job,” he added, frowning and looking rather annoyed about the whole situation. There had to be a way to get off the ice, and blast it all, Hybrid was going to help him figure that out.
