HE WAS A PRETTY YOUNG THING

He was free! He was most jubilant and elated, for this feeling of sheer freedom was delicious, like nothing he had tasted before! Hybrid grinned, enjoying the feeling of being off the weird, dreaded surface, whatever the hell that had been. He grinned as he stared out across the snowy plain, eyeing it with distrust. He knew what that deceptively calm surface held, and he knew he was never going back on that again!

Hybrid's freedom was abruptly cut short with Gabriel's plea. Hybrid's mood quickly soured as he realized he was not as free as he had initially believed. A characteristic scowl replaced his awkward grin; Hybrid did not want Gabriel to appeal to him. Hybrid wanted to enjoy this freedom just a little bit more! But Hybrid knew his duty to his leader and his place within the clan. Hybrid would help the Aquila, but not without a grumble or two.

"My job is to kill things for you," he clarified, then stalked away. He needed to find some way to get Gabriel off of the ice and onto the snow. There were no branches or ropes lying around, so he would have to dig for them. He could possibly just throw things onto the slippery surface and have Gabriel walk on them. Then he would have a good grip on the ground.

With that in mind, Hybrid started digging through the snow to find sticks and things to toss on the ice. He found a bush (withered and dead, but still usable), and began to dig it out. After a few minutes of digging and yanking, Hybrid managed to free the bush from the ground. He trotted back over to where Gabriel was and threw the rather flat, sad-looking bush onto the slippery surface.

"If I get enough sticks and... stuff, you can walk on them, or something." He paused. Gabriel couldn't escape the way he had, since Gabriel was way out in the middle of the surface. Sure, Gabriel might fall, but Hybrid didn't think Gabriel would risk it. So once the leader was close enough, Hybrid might be able to extend a branch out and pull him back up. But until then, he'd have to find some other way to make this work.
