OOC: HAI SSWM- 408

The night called to her once more. The white girl remained motionless by a window of the mansion, her mind awake and her body trembling with anticipation. Perhaps it was the full moon. Perhaps it was the thrill of the night, the thought of the unknown right outside her home. Perhaps the tipping point was watching her mother leave the mansion. Brooklyn hovered uncertainly by the window, watching the other wolf disappear into the night. How long had it been since she'd spoken to her mother? How long had she stayed hidden away, ashamed of the way she had acted? Too long, she decided. It was not something which she should have inflicted on Anu. The wolf deserved so much better.

Shrugging out of her new coat, Brooklyn shifted into her four-legged form. She felt herself shrink, a new perspective, something she had not tried in weeks. Shaking herself, she felt her pelt settling. It was strange, certainly, but not something she hated. Instead, she opened the door with her nose and rushed down the stairs, out the door and into the night. The white girl hadn't realised just how hungry she was. There were some reserves, she reckoned, but nothing could even begin to compare with the freedom of a hunt. That's it, my girl, go where your paws take you. The voice was soothing now, no longer a hindrance. She believed she was getting used to it, the voice of her ghost. What else could she call him? He had been quiet lately, simply watching her in her dreams, as she ran around with her siblings, half-remembered days of her childhood.

Soon, she could see her mother. Her tail wagging with joy, she approached the adult just in time for the call to ring out. It spilled into her blood and bones, it shook her core, it made her wide awake with glee and anticipation. It promised running and prey, it promised fresh food. It promised kinship and the bonds of pack and family. Raising her own maw, Brooklyn let out a cry in response to Anu's. Not as strong, certainly, but it gave away her presence, her happiness and her willingness to join in. Quietly she came to sit next to the female, her tail wagging. Brooklyn let silence fall between them for now, as they waited for others still to come.
