Marik had grown bored in Inferni. Because of this he had taken to walking along the coast. He had no certain destination in mind. He was quite simply walking to walk. Just traveling because he had nothing else to do and nowhere else to be. And that really was all there was to it. He hadn’t actually gone out and explored much recently so that is what this time was being used for. He was getting out and accommodating himself with the lands. And well the war talk was starting to drive him insane. He didn’t have any interest in it. He could care less about the war. It didn’t involve him. Actually he was new to the area to be quite frank about it. He had just arrived and was already being involved in a war. But it wasn’t like there was really anything that he could do about it. He would do his part and that was it. There wasn’t anything further that he could do. Honestly he was a lover and not a fighter. All of his scars came from loving someone else. That was his little tick. He insisted upon violence in physical couplings. It didn’t matter if it was male or female. He just had to have it. Had to have that reminder of what had transpired. But perhaps that was just him. Perhaps that was only his thing. But it couldn’t be since other wore his marks as well. But then again he was the one that was always suggesting for it to happen that way. The one that always forced the making of marks. So all in all it really was his fault. It was his thing that he had others performing. And if they kept on coming back to him after that then that was their fault. They knew what to expect after the first time. They should know that it would be expected on subsequent couplings as well. So all of his marks didn’t come from fighting but from the source of physical enjoyment.

He walked down along the coast not even realizing that he was heading towards enemy territory. How could he know when he had yet to really explore the outlying territories surrounding the packlands? He was just walking. Just heading away from Inferni. He had come in by the coast and so he was leaving the lands the same way. He was curious as to what was down this way. Curious as to what lay south of the place he now called home. No, actually he still called Germany home but still, it was the place that he was currently staying. The place where his brother had made himself at home. The reason he was staying was for his brother after all. He had made a promise to his slightly older sibling that he would stay. And Cotl was holding him to that. Cotl made him promise to stay over and over again. Anytime that he would threaten to leave or even seem like he was thinking about Germany then his brother would be sure to remind him of his promise to stay. His brother was the reason that he was in Canada and staying within Inferni. Otherwise he wouldn’t have any ties to the place at all. After all it was his brother that fit in with the others and not him. His life was still pretty much back in Germany. That was where he had friends and everything going for him. Here he was on his own. Aside from his brother of course. But even then he was hardly spending any time with the other coyote hybrid, only when they shared a bed at night. Everything was reversed here. He was living in Cotl’s shadow here instead of the other way around. It was something that Marik was having trouble adapting to. He was used to being his brother’s everything. But now it felt like Cotl didn’t need him at all. He wasn’t sure how to deal with that. He wasn’t sure how to deal with being the one that needed someone to lean on since he was friendless. And this whole war thing certainly wasn’t at the wrong time. How was he expected to make friends while having to deal with violence? Who would say that he would even survive the violence? Everything was just so up in the air right now. Marik would rather enjoy some sort of stability in his life. It doesn’t have to be a great deal but to know that he would still be around after all was said and done would be nice.

He chuckled as he saw a wolf fighting the waves. Some things never ceased to amaze him. He shook his head and watched the other. The hybrid had no idea that he was encroaching upon the enemies borders. It wasn’t as if strong scents could be kept near the water after all. And honestly he wasn’t certain what the pack they were warring against should even smell like. For all he knew the coast was part of a neutral territory and that this wolf was out having fun. How should he know that there was a mindset for border watch? That was the thing about war. It just put everyone on edge. Friends could just as easily be turned into enemies simply because they held opposing views. Or like this, because they were of different species. He couldn’t help what he was born as just as no one else could. And yet this factor alone could have budding friendships and romances destroyed because of a few cultural differences. It really wasn’t fair. But whoever had said that war was fair in the first place?

“Who’s winning?” He called out the words in a good natured fashion. Honestly he had nothing against anyone. He held no sort of prejudices at all. He was just having joined at the wrong time. He didn’t even fully realize what had led up to the call for war. Just something against the female leader is all he knew. But other than that he knew nothing really. Maybe his brother knew more than he did. But he figured that is Cotl knew stuff then his brother would have already thought to share it with him. After all they were close. They were able to talk about everything, even if Cotl didn’t agree with most of what Marik had to say. Still they got along terrifically most of the time. But what siblings didn’t end up fighting? “If I hold it down then you could attack it better.” It was a silly suggestion and he knew it. He knew that the waves couldn’t be held in place. But that wasn’t the point of the offer. It was an extension of friendship and a good time to be had.
