Ears took in the call, and paws took to flight. He knew the voice the urged him on and understood the message that was spoke upon the wind. The alpha had rang, and before his voice broke his servant would obey. Anger rolled through the clouds, sounding the alarm and making Minos’ fur rise along his narrow spine. The solder patrolled the border, his mind set for war. The cause rang through his bones, diligent in his simple way. But now the battle was raging and a command had been given and Minos would do nothing but follow.
The white beast’s lean form traveled lightly over the snow covered ground, pushing himself faster and faster the heavier his alpha’s scent became. Yellow eye searched until the sight of him filled their view and the scent of coyotes, and blood dominated his mind. Neither submissive greetings, eager whines nor bowing heads came to him, and the wolf allowed other instincts to wash over his mind. His leader had fallen upon two of those that did not belong. Two who held the scent that meant nothing more to their kind other then seek and destroy.
Minos slowed, though his intensity did not decrease. Their alpha reached for one, and so the wolf hunted the other. Teeth gleamed, revealed by lips that so naturally wished to hide his threat. Rumbling growl forced its way through his narrow throat as the white beast took to the other coyote with a sudden speed and fury. Teeth aimed for limbs, yearning to graze any portion and pressure the creature enough to give up the cause. But Minos would never truly understand how the war had come to be, who had started it all and what creatures had been hurt in the process. But reasons mattered not, and the wolf would fight with the game bloodlust and rage as any other, simply because he had been told.
