The further she traveled into the forest the more she saw the beauty of this place. The way the light particles of snow and ice clung to the webs and bare branches made the place seem like some enchanted ice kingdom. Rikka had always loved fairy tales and planned to share the stories with any future offspring that she may give birth to. Unlike many in Inferni she wanted to free children’s minds up to the possibilities of the world and life, not constrict them and form them into little soldiers whose only duty was to fight and survive. That was no way to life in her opinion. Apparently it worked for some, but it did not work for her. There was so much more to life and why you would want to limit your scope so was something she would never understand. After all, she had survived hadn’t she? And she didn’t bear the many scars that so many of her kin did.

Though there were things about some fairy tales that Rikka was forgetting, though unintentionally. Not all fairy tales were nice with happy endings. Some were horribly dark and she had come across those tales on one of her travels. They had been written by a pair of brothers and they were terrifying stories. She had found them intriguing nonetheless, perhaps the words pleasing the darker side of her heritage that was often out of sight and out of mind. Still, the Gimm stories were far from the pale golden hybrid’s mind and she had no idea that if this were a fairy tale, it was one of theirs that she was waltzing into and not one of the more pleasant ones.

Arms were wrapped about her in effort to keep her warm in the chill of the evening. She should have brought a blanket to keep herself warm, but it wasn’t so much of a bother as to make her want to turn back this instant. Her footfalls were light, though stealth was never a consideration of her’s and so she was making no effort to conceal her presence. Another beast could easily find her and little to her knowledge one had. A small, serene smile was upon her lips as she looked about the glistening canopy above her. It was a beautiful sight. Though as her eyes swung back down to the ground they caught two cold gems that had their sights locked upon her. From there she saw the wolf and even to her his intentions were clear. All the warmth suddenly drained from her form and the smile melted away. Rikka stood as still as a frightened deer, a vain hope that he hadn’t seen her. But of course he had. Even now she felt those blue eyes digging into her skin.

Swallowing hard, her heart fluttering, she took a step backwards. Then another. A voice screamed in her head. RUN! Rikka obeyed it as her body was flung into full flight mode. She needed to get out of here and away from that beast. Pure instinctual survival guided her now.
