She was getting away from it all; a blur of ashen zigzagging between pine trees, their branches laden with fresh snow. Behind her, following her every movement, was a linear trail caused by a fallen young doe; half-devoured already, having succumbed to another creature’s capricious appetite before crossing the madwoman’s path. There was plenty of meat left on its bones, coinciding with the hunger tantalizing her stomach. Scavenging another’s kill had never been a problem; if one was stupid enough to leave a carcass without supervision, then there was no reason why she shouldn’t profit from such negligence.
However, Lillith was not particularly fond of getting caught in the act, which is why she had taken it upon herself to drag the remains away from the area of discovery. There was no point in fighting over something so trivial; the wind showed kindness and goodwill by erasing whatever tracks were left by her arduous task. Her scent lingered, but it wafted through the crisp air unaccompanied by another’s smell. She had time to delight in her evening snack and then leave unnoticed; at least that’s what she planned on doing. So the Stormbringer femme tugged and tugged until a babbling brook allowed her to go no further. That is where she finally settled, several acres away from the crime scene.
Delightfully satisfied with her find, she wasted no time tearing at the frozen leftovers, front incisors cutting into skin and flesh. A group hunt would have made it easier on her, as there was an abundant amount of prey within Dahlia de Mai territory, but the idea of sharing with other wolves had discouraged her from doing so. This alternative was better, although a little less gratifying. In the end, did it really matter how she had obtained the doe? The madwoman had food, water, and tranquility. That’s all she really needed.
