Brooklyn still couldn't understand that a war would truly hit their lands. She could rationalise it, of course, she could tell herself that such was the way of life, that some things could never be changed, but it still did not shake the feeling that a great doom was about to befall them all. She didn't see Inferni as evil. She had before, of course, when Kaena had chased her off the lands, but time had made her understand that it had been her fault. She had been a nosy, impertinent pup. Kaena was only trying to protect her lands from invaders. The white girl hovered on the edge of her lands. The ghost wolf was by her side, watching her silently. They could kill us if we go out there, she pointed out and watched him nod solemly. Silas and Marik. What if they get hurt? What about Gael, what happens if he comes back to this? There was no answer from the ghost wolf and Brooklyn knew there would be none. He could not see the future and no matter how much it hurt to admit it, no one could. They would have to go through it alone and blind.

Silently, she slipped out of pack territory, making her way towards Halifax. Haven had lived there after finding out about their father. She had found alcohol through him and although the bitter drink would do nothing for her but make her ill, she wanted it. Craved it. Brooklyn looked around the deserted city. Humans had lived here and indeed their remains were buried in the cemetery not far off. Her mother had burned a bar here and Brooklyn had watched it go down. She had found her coat here, and met friends. To her, Halifax posed no threat. Why should it? The war would not come to the city, that much she could be sure of.

Her nose poised gracefully into the air, the tall white femme passed silently between abandoned and decaying buildings. The sound of crashing waves and the strong smell of the sea engulfed her. Soon, a bar came into view. By now, the ghost wolf had passed into the land of shadows, though he remained a comforting presence in the back of her head. She couldn't quite believe that he had been so good to her, even though she feared him. Now, he was an ally, someone to watch over her. It was enough to make Brooklyn happy. Peeking through the grime-encrusted windows, she could see a shape by the bar. Her whole frame tensed. An enemy? Slowly, she pulled her hair back into her bun, tightening it, getting as much of her fringe out of her eyes as possible. Her icy blue eyes glinted seductively. She could talk her way out of anything. Trying to copy a sexy swagger, Brooklyn pushed open the bar door and strutted towards the male (for scent gave him away as one, with a hint of Inferni around him). Her coat hugged her figure, for all that she was still unsure and somewhat awkward. She could let none of it show.

Pour me one, will you? she asked, leaning slightly towards him, her eyes glued to his. Her heart thumped inher chest all the while and she struggled not to flee. She had to be strong, mature, a brave girl.
