Even if she had come here in a state worse then this, bloodied and broken, he would not have attacked her. He would have considered it, but he would not have laid his hand upon her. Even if she had asked for death, he would have walked away. His own laws prevented him from killing her, even though he had broken these before, and even though she was once his sworn enemy. It was not his place to kill women when his blood screamed for the blue eyed devil in the south. Haku had managed to draw his blood during their last fight, but the cuts on his face were healing. Gabriel refused to allow the bastard to scar him, and had made sure that it had been treated quickly.

What she told him was more then enough. If she had said she had been attacked by Dahlia, he would have been satisfied. Instead, she drew the picture out in great detail. Her mouth had gotten her into trouble, which was no doubt from her mother’s blood. Iskata had never known when to shut up, and wouldn’t you know it, that had gotten her killed. Firefly was lucky the same thing hadn’t happened to her, and this fact made Gabriel’s lips purse, the corner of one side pulling back and down with distaste. She lost her children, but in his mind, it was far better then losing her life. Flicking one ear dismissively, not at all empathetic to her pain, he remained silent. She would certainly be weak, as much as her sex was destined to be. Only the few select were stronger then they were destined to be, and these were rare gems among women.

Her sons both belonged to Dahlia, which meant she had a connection there even if she believed otherwise. Gabriel’s eyes narrowed, seeing her way in, and he now sought to exploit it for his own means. Even if she was no good to him in battle, or in anything else, her information would serve their purpose well. Once she concluded, obviously upset by having to explain everything she had, Gabriel spoke up. “Only what you came to tell me,” he said flatly. If the information had any value, he would be pleased to receive it. Likely, if she had gained her knowledge from one or either of her sons, it would be dead on.
