Regardless of whether or not she had intended to cross their borders, Gabriel had a need to make his policy absolutely clear. If there had been any doubt, it was now without excuse. While Gabriel or Anselm might not attack her on sight, a large majority of the coyotes in the clan were vicious and out for blood. A wolf was an open target, regardless of whether or not they were allied.

Then, quickly, she looked suspicious, worried. By all accounts, she had need to be. If the child had been wounded as severely as he imagined, there was no doubt trauma from the incident. Ezekiel had not been the same after his battle with Cwmfen’s father, even though his body had healed. “I’m not going to hurt her,” he said flatly, amber eyes flashing in agitation. “Don’t you think it’s strange no one heard her screaming?” He asked, knowing that she of all people would understand that it was indeed peculiar. There had to be somewhere, something that had kept her hidden and muted. How else would she have made it home alive after escaping?
