The woman looked at her hands, covering in the goat's blood, and she had nothing to do about it. Kaena moved from her bed to grab the extra blanket they had stored away and the slave watched her, her hands palm up and resting in her lap until the blood dried. She did not want to put it anywhere else on her fur. The slave had the urge to try and get up to help the woman but with one move and the pain, she thought better of it. Vieira hated feeling useless; it left her paranoid and so much open room for disobeying her master (or what felt like disobeying). If she had idle hands, she was doing something wrong, but Kaena had insisted otherwise and she remained still. Soon she would have to get up and return to her room and while it would be nice to lay down, it was empty and lonely in there.

Kaena came back from her room and Vieira turned her head to watch, waiting for an order of some sort but she knew one would not necessarily come and if one did, it would not be to perform any duties. The voice of the other was a tone she knew well but not one she understood for the purpose. Sarcasm did not go far on her ears when she was trained to take things literal; she had, after all, brought back a collar and chain for her master. "Yes, ma'am," she said quietly and returned her gaze to her reddish pink hands, flexing them to test how wet they felt. The blood thickened and clumped and she wiggled her fingers until it was not awkward to move them. "I understand," she said and spoke toward her hands instead of the woman.

Vieira placed her hands on the ground and gave a slight push. She rotated so she was on her knees and in a position that would hoist her up as still as possible to avoid any sudden movements. The slow and carefully calculated ones were enough, she did not need sudden jerks that would pulse through her body and send her into tears. Her fists clenched when she rose and she stiffened at her full stance before leaving the company of the corpse and headed back toward her little room. She did not wait for a command because it had been given earlier, before she ate, but she felt the tension around Kaena the closer she got.
