Anselm paused where he was mid-step, his dark-tipped ears pushing forward and then falling back. His path diverted at once and he set off in a diligent lope. There was no decipherable message behind the yips, though he understood the call to be for him. He couldn't really imagine what might be going on; the call hardly seemed very perturbed or frantic.

Visions and memories of Talitha and Firefly danced before his eyes. He remembered how broken they looked. He hadn't paid it much mind back then, but that was before he'd known Ryan--and Valkyrie. The battlefield was no place for a child.

"You dumbass fucking kid, you need to get the hell out of here right now!" he exclaimed; it was questionable whether worry or fury drove him more.
