Nala only wanted to do what was best for Inferni, and to do that, he needed to prove that he was worth something. He had never been good at anything. In fact, the young coyote was pretty bad at most things. All he wanted to do was show that he could be helpful and useful and that he was worth something for his clan, and maybe it would make his parents and his brothers and sisters love him more. Was that so wrong? Nala did not think so, but perhaps this wolf would. He just wanted to be good at something for once, and if he could only be good at beating up wolves so that Anselm would be proud of him, then so be it. At least it would be something. He would be liked, even, maybe!
He yelped in surprise as he felt her jaws close over his small muzzle, ears pinned back against his head. He growled deep in his throat continuously, hoping that it might intimidate her into letting him go. He lifted his paw to bat at her face, claws searching for her eyes. If he could reach her, then maybe he could catch her off guard so that she would let go of him. If he got her in the eye, then he would even have the upper hand! If he missed her eye, though, he hoped he would at least get a good few scratches in on her cheek.
