one fish, two fish!

No matter how much of a scrawny wimp the fawn coyote was, she hoped that this fight would be heard of by her pack members, by her gorgeous leader Haku. Perhaps the power she felt now would intensify once he knew she could fight. She relished the thought, and kept in her mind's eye the image of pride in her Rosen's horrific and yet beautiful face. There were wolves in this pack who worshiped Haku. Fae wasn't among them, but to be an asset to such a powerful beast would feel wonderful, she imagined. There was no other way to look at it.

She thought about this even as Nala's ears pinned themselves against his skull, as his claws wildly scratched her for release. He missed her a few times, but managed to scrape her cheek up well. She wasn't expecting the claw to her eye, and involuntarily released him, snarling as she pulled away. Midnight-blue eye blinked several times, moisture gathering at the corners to leak down her abused cheeks. She kept her other eye on him and went for him again, using the force of her sturdy body to shove toward him with the intention of knocking him over; but she was hindered and clumsy by the distraction of her pained eye.
