Quiet on the Front

There was a small bit a fatigue felt in her form, her body just not as spry as it once was. The long walk was not something that she would have normally felt a burden, but Anu was no longer two or three years of age. Her form was healthy as ever, and her muzzle not quite a silver tone, but she could feel the difference in her joints. Even if it was slight. Anu let her gaze filter over the lake’s surface, a thick sigh draining her lungs and allowing as much clean air to fill them as she could take. The land around the lake felt as homey as inside her manor room. It was a staple of their territory, even if they only claimed a portion of the shore.

In the daze that her thoughts and the lake held her in Anu did not even notice the approach of her friend until she felt the touch against her shoulder. The scent of Savina did not bring her into a state of alarm, and the wolfess turned her head to face her friend as she spoke. “It is.” Anu answered, her body moving to face the Commander. Eyes glanced over the form of the slight ebony wolf, and nothing was left unnoticed.

There was something to say about the reaction that came form the second in command. The older female took a small smooth step backward, aiding in the turn to face Savi and she smiled. If her scent did not allow Anu to understand the changes that had gone through her good friend then the shape of her abdomen did. It seemed as if Kansas had taken her advice all those months ago to sweep the leader up and take her away, and Anu thought fondly of the conversation.

Surprised was not something that Anu felt, it was a more of a pleasant awareness. Surprise would suggest that Anu did not believe that Savina would become pregnant again, and such a thought had never gone through her mind. “And how are you feeling?” She asked, her smile broadening.
