Quiet on the Front

Time always seemed to slip away from the woman’s grasp. There was so little that she could do to control it, and Anu had begun to accept the fact that she would always just watch it pass. Even watching the pups she called her own as well as Savina’s litter grow seemed more like a blur then a full year, almost two for her own. As they stood together the time was filtering away and they were all getting a bit older, gaining experience, living life, and coming closer to the day that would be their last. It was simply the way of the world, and Anu was beginning to find happiness in just letting it move without fighting.

An yet, in her world, Colibri stopped time. There was no worry that there wouldn’t be enough, there was no pressure and no thought that time was being wasted. It was something that the young female brought her that Anu could so easily relish. The sense of youth, the energy of one only a few years into their life. It was different, time and years changed a wolf, and it was hard to think that it ever would when younger, but it did.

The night that she and Savina had spoken Anu had left uneasy. But she had not doubted her friend’s acceptance of Coli, and it was not long after their meeting that Anu ended her doubt in Coli’s acceptance of Anu and their relationship. There had been so much that went unsaid, but now the fey had no questions surrounding their bond. The female nodded at Savina’s comparison and Anu thought of something else, and yet she did not bring up another similarity that the two she-wolves seemed to posses.

She had promised to keep that to herself. “They are very much alike.” Anu agreed. Though she did not feel the need to reassure her friend, Anu still did, “I have always been happy here, Savi. It’s a different sort of happiness.” She had felt sorrow in her time in Crimson Dreams, but it did not mean she had been unhappy. The smile did not waver, but her eyes looked away from her friends face and out onto the wintry lake. “I am looking forward to spring,” She mentioned as she looked over the white cold landscape. “I miss the days of gardening, of flowers and fruits.” She missed when she had something that always relied on her, something to tend to and nurture.“Coli is a gardener as well.” Anu added, her mind running and her mouth getting away from her as she looked back at the Commander. It was something that had brought the two females together, and a passion they both shared.
