Before coming here she had never been exposed to the possibilities of same sex relationships. Surely even if there had been any in Monti Sabini of that persuasion they would have forced it down for it would not have been "proper" for them to live that way. So many things had been "improper" back where she came from. Savina loved Italy and hoped that she would see it again, but never would she return to where she was born. Living here had opened her eyes and she know found that place even more deplorable than she already had. While the idea of two females loving each other in that way had surprised her, nothing about it had struck her as wrong. Perhaps it was because she saw love as a pure entity and it didn't matter who it was between. Anu's love towards Colibri was just as pure as her own love for Kansas. It was just as real and none of it was contrived. If love was true then it couldn't be wrong.
Her friend's smile faded and Savina felt her own face take on a more serious tone. It was a serious subject that the two were breaching. When Anu spoke again the mother began to truly realize what it was that would need to be done for the two females to have children. With this realization came another one: how lucky she was to be able to create life with the person she loved. Even if Anu had children, they would have no blood ties to Colibri. Not that blood ties mattered in the long run, but there was something magical in knowing that you had created something with your partner. Her dear friend would never be able to experience that particular emotion, and it saddened her. If she were in the other wolfess' place, she wasn't sure what she would do. If she would be able to let someone else be with her just so she could have children. It was difficult decision, and one that had to made for yourself, no one else could make it for you.
Though at her Lt. General's last statements she felt her spirits life again. "If that is what you want, then you should try. I know it can't be easy...but it could be worth it." Thinking of her own pups, born and unborn, she knew that she would do anything to have them. She would climb the highest mountain and swim to the depths of the sea. Anu would just have to decide if she were comfortable doing what would have to be done. Finding a male willing to do the act and then not want the pups wouldn't be hard, she thought somewhat bitterly. Hell, they could call her own father up and surely he would be more than happy to do so. Still, she didn't like the idea of Anu in the paws of some crass and filthy man. Hopefully, if she did this, she could find someone with some sense of honor and compassion.
