She was a creature that pulsed with warmth, so different from those hiding in shadows. The blood coursing through their bodies made them weak. The hunter feasted on its pray. There was no hypocritical about the brown furred being – his body was warm and to a certain degree also mortal like the rest of its species, but it was merely a temporary vessel. The soul that had inhabited this body had been eaten away until it was no different from the rest of the damned creatures of the underworld. He frowned at the mortal arrogance, their foolish beliefs. They thought they had free will and they dared to challenge the gods with their newfound ways. They walked on two and they feasted on the human way in the true species’ absence. There was little resentment for this, for he was the reaper and fed from the masses of sinners. Many thought of him as a monster and sinner, but even the ninth was in the end just a tool that followed a greater being; consumed by fire and surrounded by screams.

She failed to recognize his hungry face for what it was: death. Or did the invitation to devour her still stand regardless? It was becoming difficult to determine the eye of the beholder, for the weed had spread everywhere so that worth was sometimes hard to set apart from ignorance. Mortals thought so highly of themselves that they were unable to grasp superiority within others. Firefly was a beautiful example of a soul unable to understand power. She had only seen her own, imaginable one, and it had cost her. Yet still standing empty-handed left she refused to acknowledge what was plain for all to see: that she was a failure. Haku had lost his faith in this life and refused to see this woman’s behaviour as anything but dense. He was well aware that he could be mistaken, but it could not be considered a loss in any way regardless. He was here to take lives, not to judge souls. All would eventually be devoured whole.

Her relaxed pose and lack of proper respect caused red to flash through him though, and so his jaws parted magnificently as his hind legs pushed against the hard ground. He was in her face in an instant, snapping his row lethal daggers shut mere inches from her forever tempting flesh. He could draw lines on her body far more exquisite than the little line on her face. He could show her what he could do. The beast continued to advance, pushing her back with his compact body that spoke of battle and dried blood. The urge to tear through her was present, but those blue eyes had yet to dance up into his skull with their madness. While she was mostly untouched still, the male knew that he wanted to touch her body; knew he wanted to hurt her and release the crimson liquid current that he so vividly dreamed of night and day.

His teeth flashed again, though they seemed to lack purpose. The beast glared into her eyes, wanted to see fear fill up and teach her truth.
