Bravery or just stupidity

His words made sense really. It wasn't very often that Lucia found anyone who shared her unique love for fighting and violence. Though she wasn't a cruel being, nor did she openly flash her addiction, she did often search for a fight as the rush it gave her was often better than any high she could get from drugs, alcohol, or even sex. That, in a way, was dangerous – but it didn't concern her. She just went with the flow, and for now, in the presence of this male, she would pretend. She would fabricate her truths.

“Conflict is tedious,”
she mustered quietly, unable to think of anything better to say. She never did like to lie, but it occurred to her that if she did perhaps tell him her real views on fighting, he would not hang around long enough to understand it. She would probably have the entire pack at her heels; and that, as interesting as it would be, seemed like a bad idea for the time being. Licking her lips, her emerald coals still fixed over the horizon, Lucia listened intently to the words of her companion. He seemed so innocent, it was surreal. It was something she would definitely have to remedy with him if they ever crossed paths again.

“It's a relatively good tree,”
she agreed, her paces slightly slower than his as she kept a few feet behind him. In her mind it seemed better to be seen as a lesser being, than an equal. For equals are more likely to be challenged, and though she fancied her odds, today was not a day for blood to be spilled. “Chop away,” she whispered softly, watching him begin to loosen the tree from its roots. It would be a curious fall; the direction in which it would go could not be determined. If it fell on her, she would laugh – but merely because it would be ironic. Or at least, in her mind anyway.
