The voice that sounded behind him was colder than the snow beneath his footpaws. Jacquez turned, too curious to be intimidated -- he had heard so many descriptions, emphasized by fear or loathing, but this was his first glimpse of the Dahlian tyrant's face. The wolf was shaggy and riddled with scars, muscular and hulking in the rarely-seen Secui form. Jacquez narrowed his eyes judgmentally, inwardly sneering that this so-called ruler still crawled about on all fours. There was something dangerous in those vivid blue eyes, though, or maybe that something was the absolute nothingness behind them...

"I am the King of the Court of Miracles," he replied boldly, his loud voice imperious with the challenge it carried. "...You've spilled a lot of my followers' blood." Without a kill, though, he could not find the support he needed to go to war against Haku and his minions. Too many of his packmates had families, or were otherwise pacifists; it frustrated him to remain neutral when he felt so passionately about his territory being violated.

He sank into a crouch, fangs flashing in a wild grin as his plumed tail lashed behind him. It had been some time since he'd fought someone on all fours, and Haku seemed to be a formidable opponent. The mad king relished the challenge. First step would be to punch some of his teeth out, that would slow him up. Or his eyes -- one well-placed thumb and the big bad wolf wouldn't be half as scary as everyone seemed to think he was.

No trick was too dirty. The one-armed man had learned quickly to discard honor and simply fight for survival. One thing he didn't learn, though, was when to quit... "Ta fourrure fera une beauté du manteau," he remarked with a leer, barely noticing his casual slip into French. It didn't matter if Haku could understand his words anyway, it was a provocation regardless of tongue.
