oocly assuming a bit of stuff has already gone down, to speed things up. post order will be: tokyo, kaena, king initially, until they call in their packs~ 468 words. set in: arachnea's revenge.

Tokyo had actually started getting worried about the building intensity of the war, and consequently recently acquired for herself a long-knife. She had zero ability to use it, but a sharp edge was a sharp edge and it was something that would be nice to have on her when wandering. You know, if she actually... Remembered.. To bring it places. Like now. Now, would be a really great time to have the knife. Because she had left it in her den, because it wasn't actually possible to act out her desires.. Well, Tokyo couldn't help but imagine how easily she would take her long-knife and drive it through this filthy, disgusting coyote's heart...

King, her King! This coyote, this Kaena, had threatened her son. There was no excuse. Firefly had gotten a thrashing, and deserved every ounce of it, for merely speaking poorly of King, of Haku. It was amazing the sort of fear that the Dahlian's leader's name inspired in other creatures. Fear, of course, that manifested itself frequently as hatred. It was the way that lesser creatures, those lacking the ability to refine their emotional expression, often acted. And Firefly hadn't even been a coyote. This female that stood before Tokyo was trash, pure and simple. Her face, her entire body was scarred, she was old, and ugly. What could Kaena even get out of life, anymore? The Dahlian's fingers itched for violence, in a way that she hadn't really ever felt before. Not even the murder of half her first litter has been inspired by such feeling. If only she had remembered the long-knife!

Tokyo knew that the threat to King's life was said in all seriousness, and she picked up the puppy that had been trotting on her side, holding him tightly to her breast. It wasn't much actual protection, but it offered him more mobility and meant that Kaena would have to be willing to hurt Tokyo in order to hurt her child. Which, of course, was perfectly likely.. But the mother could also take a bit harder blows. And for some reason, it was the only thing that made sense to do. To.. sacrifice her safety, for his. Weird. Was this love? It was confusing, because until now love had always just seemed something convenient that allowed Tokyo to get things that she wanted more easily.

"Are you stupid or something? Do you know how quickly you would die, if word got out you laid a single paw on this child?" Tokyo spat, stumbling backwards a few steps, nervousness demanding a greater amount of space between them. "I almost killed someone for simply speaking ill of Haku." The Dahlian half-bragged, half-warned. (Also, half-lied.. Technically it was that young male, whatever his name was.. But, still). If only, if only she had brought that long-knife..
