Denali heard her words but could not respond now, tears filled her eyes… it was his fault… he had abandoned them so they had to abandon him, it only seemed fair, especially since he’d hurt Artemis, but he was not at rest with this conclusion, and he wanted to finish this somehow. Something landed on Denali’s chest…he could not see it but it was a flash of silver… the squirrel he had caught for Nuki the other day… however much he could not see the dead pelt, he could see the tail that belonged to him, staining with blood now… a trophy… but this couldn’t be the end. He made sure to keep her away from him as long as he could, but the end was surely inevitable. She took out her knife… it was the last thing he saw. The long point driving down, the sheer pain… and then nothing.
