Kansas rested the deep mahogany guitar in his lap and held his head in his hands with a sigh, his forehead pounding dully. Almost an hour of toying with the same part of a song had become dull and frustrating. He could not play the right sequence of chords at the right speed, no matter how many times he tried. Today was a bad day for playing, and that was infuriating because he was not in the mood to fail.
He wanted to play the part correctly, to recreate its beautiful sound with his own hands, but he was too discouraged to continue. He needed a break. The pale Tribune set his guitar aside and headed down the stairs with slow steps. He peered out one of the windows in the front room and was momentarily entranced by the endless white.

Deciding that he wanted to get some fresh air and perhaps burn off some of his frustration, Kansas quietly stepped outside and shifted into his Lupus form. He leaped into the snow and started toward the forest, the frigid breeze like a welcome splash of cold water upon his face, awakening him entirely. As his slender form pushed through the deep remnants of the blizzard and he began to trod the forest, the pale boy felt his anger slipping away. Though Artemis had awakened and the blizzard was over, he was still on edge a lot more than usual and he needed moments like this to calm down. At least the sudden rush of angry emotion had not happened to him in the dead of night, like last time. Breathing the chilly air, the Sadira wolf walked a little more slowly, enjoying the silence that enveloped him like a soft blanket, while somehow music played in his mind.

WC: 311 OOC: wheeeee!!!

Amata had found a good place to rest already, she found it quiet and serene, a nice place out and away from the puppies. Oh she loved them very much but she could not study if she could not hear herself think with the little feet pouncing all over her. The elders were just as bad, everyone was getting cabin fever, hating what was outside as well as what was inside and wishing that spring would get there soon.

Amata knew it would not, and she kept her mind on the fact that the coldest month of the year had passed them by with little damage. She was working on her medical book now, thinking of ideas she had gotten when Artemis was in a coma. That and a few other newly injured that had crossed their paths… and her experience in the freezing water saving the young Fia. To think she didn’t need to leave to go out into the wild to complete her training as clearly it wasn’t finished yet. She was writing frantically, letting the words flow into her book when she saw someone passing thrugh the trees at a distance… soon seeing her dad! It had been a while since she actually gotten any time alone with him, and she rushed to close her book.

Dadda!

She called, getting up, and putting her book in the trees, she didn’t feel right walking in optime when he was in his lupus so she changed, though it took her a little bit she came bounding for the man she so took after.

Where are you headed? Mind if I join you?

She asked. She knew where she would leave her book, she’d visited this spot often. She wanted her time with her father unless he told her to leave, though she would be heartbroken she would immediately do so.

you get my 600th post! Big Grin 300+

They were all tired of snow and anxious to see the sun blaze over a colorful world again. Kansas was no exception, the early darkness of winter had made his depression even worse, amplifying the dread he had felt about Artemis. Though the wobbly feeling of uncertainty remained, he liked the white silence of the snow. Today it was comforting. Kansas sat on his haunches and closed his eyes. He breathed steadily, feeling the icy air rush soothingly into his body. Summer would be a breath of relief after this particularly harsh winter, a way of finding closure for all that had happened. But he enjoyed the breathtaking cold.

His eyes opened in bewilderment when a soft snap broke the silence. He first pictured a forest critter breaking one of the many dried twigs, but he was dead wrong. His heart warmed at the familiar call and Amata's appearance through the trees. He woofed happily, his tail wagging behind him as he stood up and nuzzled his daughter's pale cheek. Looking at Amata was surreal, almost like staring into a living looking glass. She shared many of his features, except for the green eye and black markings that her mother had given her, making her all the more beautiful. Eh, not going anywhere. I just wanted some, eh, some fresh air, he answered with a grin. Sure you can, sweetheart, but it might be... boring. She probably could have found many better things to do than hang around with her old man, but he was ecstatic that she wanted to. It was hard to scrounge time alone with any of his older children, and increasingly so with the youngest litter.

Kansas curiously looked off to where she had come from and spotted a book nudged carefully among the trees. Returning his gaze to Amata, he indicated the book with a gesture of his head. What you working on over there? Reading? he asked with a snicker.

She could tell Kansas was happy to see her, and this made the cream colored girl very happy. She returned his affection and shrugged at his comment. It was good to see her father, even though times were stressful, and life was hard on them, with the whole snowstorm ordeal, but she knew spring would be here at last, just like it had last year. and the year before that and so on. She wanted to at least be in his company for a bit until he was once again called away on some other disaster she couldn’t help with or something of that nature.

“You aren’t boring at all, walks aren’t too bad, though a good quiet day helps more than the walk I think.”

Amata giggled. She liked her exercise, but she enjoyed sitting and reading a good book by a fire, near flowing water, or in a place remote and quiet. Something that was hard to find these days. It seemed he saw where she had been sitting as well as her medical journal. She shrugged. She knew such talk would be boring for her father. He didn’t have the same interest, though he was always nice and listened if she started talking about it.

“Oh that’s more boring stuff, I was just writing in my medical journal. I suppose there’s still much more for me to learn. Artemis and Fia and even Oak have just taught me that.”

She giggled, yes all three of them had gotten into trouble lrecently, though Artemis was more of the bigger scale, though thankfully she woke, but being in a coma was hard for both Amata and Cambria put together. Fia’s incident was more about Amata going in the water than Fia getting any injuries at all, and a good way to warm up or help with body heat. Oak... had been a fall and she was thinking of ways to splint a sprain or break, either before or even after one go to the medical area where there would be supplies for such a thing, though she was wondering if she was putting too much thought into it.
