The world was fresh and new. The sun had risen and crept across the sky throughout the day . It shone on the snow trying to release its grip on the grass underneath. It encouraged the grass to try with all its might to break through. Spring was almost here and the grass didn't seem to realize it yet. The wind was furious blowing the world around. Liam's fur absorbed the suns energy as if encouraging him to get up from his slumber. Liam saw no one around. His company usually warmed him but the sun was the best company to keep warm.

Looking around there were walls and a floor obviously but for some reason he had no idea where this place was and how he got here.He wanted to be with his family but didn't know how to get to them. If he waited here no one may come for him but if he left he may find no one outside. He wished he had his brother with him. Noah always made him feel safer and happier. He was never bored when his brother was around and his brother always had a task for him to do. He put that behind him and looked at his coat. It was filthy and covered in grim. He licked every spec of dirt off until he could shine in the sun. Smiling he was proud of this small accomplishment. He stood up and stretched letting out a big yawn. Judging by the place of the sun in the sky he had been waiting for hours. His mind began to race. What if he never saw his family again? Out of terror he let out a loud bark that turned into a howl. "MOTHER" he shouted. "FATHER! NOAH!" The world felt as though it was closing in around him and the room he was in didn't feel as welcoming as it did before.

As the boys were older now, nearly three months od age, Vigilante and Ayita had lengthened their ropes a bit and had given them more freedom. Still, it did not stop the King from worrying about his sons if he did not know where they were. It was the same for all of his children, really, even those that were adopted and grown. Noah and Liam were his only blood children, but he regarded Amaranth as his own as well, and he cared greatly for the other children he had adopted during his time in Cour des Miracles. He simply could not help but worry about the boys, as he knew that they could easily get into something and he would not know if he was not with them. He could not be with them all the time, but he did all that he could to keep an eye on them.

Noah had accompanied him on his patrols that day, as he did on most days. "Dad, we should go find Liam," the boy pup suggested, and the King nodded. It was not uncommon for one or both of the boys to run off and play or explore, and Vigilante trusted the members of his pack to keep them safe. They both knew not to leave the pack lands. The dark-faced caramel-colored dog mutt took a moment to scent the air, considering where he might look for his younger son, and the dark-saddled boy trotted after him once Vigilante set off.

Vigilante heard his son's call and moved more quickly, hearing the distressed tone to the boy's voice. If something had happened to his son, the King would never forgive himself. "There he is! Liam, Liam!" Noah called, speeding up clumsily. Vigilante was close behind. "Did something happen, Liam? Are you alright?" he asked, a worried tone to his voice that was not often there.

When Liam heard his father and he felt relief wash over him like a flood. "I was just worried. I didn't know where you were." The world felt as though it lifted off of his back. He was overjoyed and ran to his dad.The pebbles on the ground were damp and his leg gave out under him. He fell on his chest and in front on his dad. How was he going to show him how strong he was if he was falling over all the time. Of course getting lost and crying for help isn't strong either but Liam would have other chances to show his skills off. He sure didn't want to show his skill of falling though. He got up with his head held high as if he never fell and walked over to his dad. The soft feel of his fathers fur calmed Liam when he rubbed against him. Noah was here too! He felt even more secure. With his brother and father by his side he could face the world.
This ordeal was a lot for him but there was still time in the day to play. He jumped on top on Noah but quickly got back off. In the past he had tried to stay on but he was thrown off fast. Noah was bigger and stronger than him so he would never try to over power him again after that. Liam followed Noah and Vigilante out of the room.

Neither of his sons seemed to have any desire to be away from the King or his mate for any length of time, and for this he was thankful. Vigilante did everything he could to be a good father, but in the back of his mind, he was aware that Kable had chosen to leave rather than stay and he had not been much older than these two. Circumstances had been different, of course; Kable had chosen to leave with his father, whereas Noah and Liam had both parents, together and happy. Still, the King had been worried about the possibility, and he was glad to know it had been an unnecessary worry. He loved both of his sons. Of course they were happy and did not want to run away. The boys had been taught the dangers of wandering too far from home, and eventually the King and his mate would teach them how to be safe out there, but for now, he was glad to keep them close. They were young.

The dark-saddled puppy growled as his brother jumped on his back. Noah was certainly the more serious of the two puppies, and Liam seemed to know exactly how to ruffle his feathers. Bicolored eyes glanced up to meet his father’s wise emerald eyes and the boy received a warning look. Vigilante looked into the faces of both of his sons, always intrigued by their eyes. They were mirror images; If Noah and Liam looked at each other, blue met blue and green met green. However, looking at them side by side, the boys had opposite eyes. It was interesting, indeed, how that had happened. Vigilante’s green and Ayita’s blue had not mixed, and they had not taken one color over the other. The two colors worked in tandem in the boys’ faces.

The caramel-hued King thought of what they might do today now that they had found Liam. Perhaps an adventure would be a good idea; the boys would probably enjoy that. “Would you two like to go for a walk on the beach? Perhaps I can show you the Pirata Grotto with its sunken ship,” the King suggested.
