Initial Post:

The girl sprinted across the barren land on one of her many hunting expeditions. She cursed as she stumbled on a soft furry bundle, tripping, and grabbed a tree branch hanging overhead to keep from falling. Her bright green eyes searched for the culprit, expecting a cat or some other small feline. Instead, they found a hare, and a large one at that, not yet dead. Laughing breathlessly, she mentally chided herself for her stupidity and proceeded to kill the hare with a bite to its neck. She threw the hare into her game bag and continued on.

She put down a bag of lettuce next to a rabbit warren and waited. Sitting down idly, she watched as the rabbits came out of their den and walked into the bag, not knowing it was a trap. After four or five had gone in, she snatched up the bag and killed the rabbits one by one, slinging them into her pack. She was not yet aware that she was extremely close to a pack's borders.

Whistling to her horse, she spotted the gap in a wire fence and approached it, realizing that it was the borders of a pack. "Huh. Interesting," she whispered to herself, stopping to let her pregnant mare get her breath back. As the animal was only about 2 weeks away from foaling and she had little experience with these things, she decided to stay and see if there were any animal experts here. "Hello. Anyone there?" she asked, feeling stupid.

Hello hello! Smile

On the speckled AniWayan horse he strode back towards the western clan, returning from yet another daily trek to the Valley to check on Tala and the pack's status. Though the brute was not one to think such sentimental things, perhaps he left his heart behind each time he left, for every inch that lengthened the Valley from him lurched gut further and further into a spiral. It's for the greater good, he would tell himself, reminding himself time and time again how the AniWayans needed him and were just as liable for an emergency as the Valley back home was — and with Dawali out of commission while recovering from his wound, the one-eyed, one-armed Jefferson was all the western tribe had.

The stallion moved at a slower pace as they neared AniWayan borders, the bags beneath the Patriarch's eyes heavy and worn with exhaustion. Sleep was inviting, but first the stallion needed tending to, and he planned another round of the borders before he could even begin considering a nap or whatnot...

"Anyone there?" The modest call reached his tattered ears from a short distance ahead; its identity was revealed in a matter of seconds, the bespeckled stallion coming to a pause beside the rather rotund horse the accompanying the stranger. Jefferson... well, he stared at it. "Your horse is fat," he remarked, and that was how he introduced himself. Of course he cold tell it was pregnant, but it was still fat.

"Jefferson," his raspy voice crawled from his throat, the scarred man slipping off the side of the horse and coming to tower over her. "I'm the leader from Phoenix Valley, near the mountains far to the east, but I've been filling in for the leader here while he's fixing up from an injury. You got business with AniWaya?"
