It had simply been way too long.

Ties of the family had brought her here, and those same ties continued to tug and pull her forwards. Her feet were tired, her stomach hungry, but that wasn't enough to stop her just yet. She'd come too far at this point, and giving up now would simply be pointless. Only a little longer the dark-furred were reminded herself over and over again, and finally did that resilience appear to be paying off.

Soft breezes from the nearby sea gently moved her hair as she raised her nose up in search of scents. The one particular that she was looking for, a certain Maria Agapito, was there, and it sent tingles of anticipation through her body. Soon enough, she'd be with her again, and she had a feeling they'd have a lot to talk about. It was exciting to just think about it! Anyway, there were other smells about, not many of which she really recognized aside from Guiseppe and maybe a few others. Guiseppe and Maria's scents certainly stood out the most, and as of now, they were the ones that matter to her. It was all new to her, but something about the way it all felt seemed almost like she'd known it all her life. Maybe that was just a sign that things would be good here. She could only hope.

With a gentle sigh, she decided to take a quick break before poking around any further. Antonella knew the rules about borders and all that business, and wasn't sure how much further she could travel, so now seemed like a decent time for a rest while she plotted what to do. Maybe if she was lucky, someone would find her before she found anyone..!

Things were beginning to settle. Her and Giuseppe were okay as far as their relationship and he seemed to understand, somewhat, of what happened, and Beppe was content with things. With Montidora, as well, tagging along, Maria had her hands full. The child she found on the borders was often rambunctious now that she was warming up to their family and eating healthy again but the more meat she saw appear on her bones, the happier Maria felt. It was like they were all a family again, however, things were not always right. With a deep sigh, walking along the ocean, Maria brushed back her hair. The ocean breeze greeted her with scents she recognized, of her family, of her... "pack" so to speak, something she never thought she had. However, among those scents was one that was unfamiliar, yet she recognized it easily. It was like riding a bike and never forgetting how to.

Her head cautiously turned in the direction the scent had come from and she spun on her heels to face it. Part of her wanted to ignore it and find somewhere else to be, leaving the border to someone else. However, the scent needed to be responded to. She needed to face that part of her life. Her and Giuseppe had agreed to start over in these new lands without the hassling of either of their families and now one of them was here? She thought it might be her sister, but she hadn't seen her in nearly a year and so her memories couldn't exactly pin-point it. Walking in that direction, several minutes later, Maria saw the form of her sister. "Antonella?" she called out, bitting her tongue as she stopped short a few feet away.

When she smelt the scent of his sister nearing, and especially when she could finally see her, Antonella wasted no time getting to her feet. She forgot all about her aches from traveling in that exact instant, and nearly fell over in all her hurry to greet. This had been what she had been waiting for, thinking about, and just all around anticipating for quite some time now. Maria and her had been decidedly close, and to have a void where Maria had once been in her life for over a year now had not been easy on her. But, now that was all over, and no longer did she have to wonder if Maria was okay, or if she was happy, and the like.

"Maria! Mi è!" she promptly answered, a smile spread across her features. She was simply overjoyed to see her again, and only hoped the feeling would be returned. She couldn't think of any reason for Maria to be sour at her, so didn't worry about that very much. "L'ho mancata un lotto." she said happily, enjoying the ability to just chatter on in Italian and truly be understood. She had a lot of things to talk to Maria about, but for now, she was just happy to see her again.

Her sister's voice called out to her and Maria was still a loss for words. At first, she had seen her sister a few times when her family turned their backs on her, but after a while those visits became shorter and after Beppe had been born, it seemed to have disappeared. Now, though, it was a bittersweet feeling. Maria had eventually lumped Antonella in with the rest of her family whom shunned her because of her choices, but eventually became numb after a while. "I.. L'ho mancata anche," she said and within seconds, Maria flung herself forward and took her sister in her arms. It was overwhelming with everything going on, with Giuseppe's return and their establishment here, but to see her sister again was such a great feeling and to take her out of the lump of unhappy family was even better. "Come lei ha preso qui?" she asked, pulling away and looking at her face.

While Maria had been shunned by the rest of the family, Antonella had quietly wished otherwise. She hadn't seen the whole fault in the issue, and had just wanted to spend time with her sister. She had wished that there had been something she could've done, but her own loyalities to the family as a whole held her back for some time. Once Maria was essentially cast out, their time together shrunk and eventually turned to nothing; that had probably been one of the hardest things for Antonella to deal with.

But, that was all done with, over and in the past. She happily returned her sister's embrace, glad to have her back in her life. It may have taken a little bit of a journey, but it was all worth it just for this moment. Once Maria pulled away from her somewhat, the most likely of questions began. "Ho seguito Giuseppe." she explained, grinning. It had seemed like the most logical way to find Maria, as he was after her as well and probably had a better idea of whereabouts than she did. She had never had a strong opinion of Giuseppe, and following him was probably a little risky for her, but thankfully it had worked and they were together again.

"Ma, come lei è stato?" she promptly asked, eager to hear about Maria and a little uninterested in chatting about herself. That was boring anyway.

She began to wonder if Giuseppe had known he was being followed or if they had come together. Surely he would have said something to her or even noticed, but after the fire, there hadn’t been much to go on. Everything was gone where she had come from, where she started her new life, but that didn’t matter. Her even newer life was here, on this coast, with the family they called Insieme. They were together. "Sono giusto. È stato rude poiché eravamo qui conficcati... Ho rotto la mia gamba," she said and her hand touched her left leg. Often times, it would get sore and throb. Having left the pack that took care of her before it was fully healed and then dealing with getting away from the fire had played a toll on her.
Vivo qui adesso. Il Giuseppe e Beppe anche e pochi altri. Lei sta?" she asked, hopeful and worried at the same time. She would enjoy her sister’s company but what if that attracted the rest of her family? How would she be able to deal with Giuseppe’s suspicions and her family’s problems at the same time? She left an awkward smile on her face, however, to prevent herself from assuming the worst.

A small frown tugged at her features to hear that things hadn't been absolutely wonderful for Maria here initially. The little frown turned into a gaping expression when she mentioned breaking her leg. "Ha rotto la sua gamba?! come ciò ha fatto succede?" she asked, letting her eyes shift to her sister's leg. It looked fine now, so apparently it had been an old wound. Antonella was just curious, as breaking a leg was a pretty big deal, not something to just be shrugged off like a stubbed toe.

She nodded as Maria spoke on. "Beppe. Come è? " she asked with a cant of her head. She knew next to nothing about him, but he was family and she wanted to know if he was well or not. When the question of her staying came up, though, she hoped that Maria wanted her around. She did not wish to feel like an...unwelcome invader or anything of that nature. "Amerei stare, se lei mi avrà certo." she said sweetly with a little smile.

"Guardavo intorno fuori del nostro territorio di pacco che era vuoto ma ha iniziato a piovere e ho scivolato e sono caduto. Era stato ghiacciato e la caduta ha fatto la mia rottura di gamba," she explained and looked down at her hands. Explaining made her think of her most recent argument with Giuseppe, conflicted with the whole situation, but it was okay. Her leg was healing and though she had put some strain on it, it was beginning to go away all together. She imagined she'd have a stressed throb every now and then. "Il Beppe è tutto è cresciuta. Ha avuto appena il suo compleanno," she explained with a distressed sigh. She had missed so much of his childhood that she wanted to go back and fix everything. Giuseppe had also missed a lot, more than her, but it still felt like a lifetime on her end.

Her sister finally responded to her question and Maria reached out to tug at Antonella's hand. "Ciò amerei," she said. She no longer doubted that there were other family around. Antonella had been there through thick and thin and made an attempt after her disowning that kept a bond between the sisters. With a smile, she pulled against her sister for another hug.

She winced as Maria explained the situation for breaking her leg. It didn't sound like it was pleasant at all, but then again, what was good in breaking bones no matter the situation? Anyway, it appeared that the leg was doing much better now, and it obviously wasn't causing her immense amounts of pain because here she stood, so it was all okay. It had just been one of those little speed bumps life liked to send one's way. Concerning Beppe, she was a little surprised to hear that he was already grown. It felt like just yesterday that Maria was being shunned for the pregnancy, and now Beppe was all grown up. Time had certainly flown, and Antonella was curious to meet up with Beppe at a later date.

But, before she could meet up with any of the family here, or anyone else in this area for that matter, she wanted to know that Maria wanted her around. She waited, and when Maria finally said that she would like that, she couldn't rush to meet her sister's embrace fast enough. For a short while, she said nothing and soaked up the moment, but finally pulled away to say "Sono contento" It was good to know that Maria wanted her, and good to know that she potentially had a nice future here.
