The girl's skin was on fire, it itched deep beneath, and no matter what she tried to do she couldn't get any relief! The days had become shorter and the air had a biting chill. Sometimes snow flurries assaulted her world, yet this morning she'd woken up aflame.
The burning brought her out of her uneasy sleep in the early dawn hours when the sky was barely changing from midnight to violet. Robert was sleeping close to her so of course she knew it was his fault. She grumbled angrily and put her forepaws against him, shoving him as hard as she could. The poor unsuspecting pup went rolling away from her, waking with a start. “Get off!” She yelped when he turned confused, hurt eyes on her. She gave him nothing but an unforgiving frown, her eyes daring him to find out what would happen if he came back. The brother, tired and not caring enough to fight, found another place to lay.
She tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. Instead she lay restlessly in her sleeping place in the 'Guffawlins' residence. Each time she thought she might get back to sleep a muscle would twitch and her stomach felt like something tickled inside of it. It was unsettling, and after a while very distressing. Giving in, she picked her head off her paws and looked around, panting.
“Daaaaddyyyy” she finally whined, looking for her father's form. Was the coy-wolf asleep or up and about? She stood up to all fours and took a few steps but was interrupted when a stinging itch poked at her rear. She yelped and turned quickly to chew at the spot. After a moment of dissatisfying scratching, she started looking for her parents again. “Daddy? Momma?”
