The wolf hybrid shivered. He should never have made that deal. The blankets he'd received seemed worthless now in comparison to the favor he was being asked. There had been no limits placed on it, and Amy had made that clear. He would pay his debt, or lose more than just the blankets he'd made this black hearted deal for. He just hadn't expected to be given such an awful task. Steal a puppy? He'd attempted to argue, but she had come down on him harder and harder until he'd found himself giving in. Whatever this pack was, they had managed to anger someone truly terrifying.

Slipping through he didn't notice any of the land's beauty. Just passing the border made him itch terribly. Wolves weren't supposed to trespass into each other's territory, and even the small amount of dog blood in him didn't still that territorial instinct. He wasn't dominant enough to feel confident challenging it, rather slinking around the edges and hoping that he'd make it. There was a lot of ground between him and where he'd find pups.

Stepping on a stick he bit his lip, cursing silently at his luck. Why couldn't she have asked for something else? He could have brought her prey, or hooked her up with a friend, or taught her something. Instead he was doing this. It was one of the worst things anyone could do, and he was the one committing it. Not Amy, the one who wanted it done, but him. He was a good man. He didn't do things like this. He just wanted to live by himself and not be bothered. He even had a cozy cave that he loved and didn't plan on leaving anytime soon.

He walked through the communal den. The moon gave a pale light, showing the outlines of the pack's members. They were far enough apart that he could move through them in relative peace, but it still freaked him out. If one of them cried out all of them would be on him in an instant. A yawn froze him to the spot. Yellow eyes peered forwards, finding himself faced with a sleepy looking round female. This was not good. Their eyes locked, neither of them moving for an instant before the female realized who he was. She tilted back her head, about to summon the others.

This couldn't happen! If she alerted them, he could lose his limbs. Running forwards he struck out with his fist, hitting her with all his might. She was knocked back without a sound, and struggling. Again he struck her, and this time she laid still. Oh man. Had he killed her? Had he killed a pregnant female? Kneeling down he touched her, finding her heartbeat. That was a relief. She was a reliability now though. She'd seen him, and could tell the pack what he looked like. Then it wouldn't matter if Amy was happy, the pack would still hunt him down. Frowning he looked at her. Why couldn't she have stayed asleep?

An idea slowly rose in his mind as he studied the female. She was rather beautiful, and she did look like she was going to be having pups soon. If he took her, then Amy would get her pups, but the mother would still be able to be with them. He wouldn't have done such a terrible thing as he might have done. At least that's what he rationalized. Grabbing her he slung the body over his shoulder. Peeking around he broke into a lope, moving as quickly as he could for the borders. Hopefully this would satisfy her, and he could go his way in peace.
