It had been just a little over a week since her brother had come to her and suggested that she move to the pack down south. At first the suggestion had caught her off guard and feeling uneasy, but after they had talked more and she had had time to think of it afterwords she decided that it was the best thing for her. Rikka had felt a little ashamed that she hadn't been able to stick around in the clan, but it would have been stupid for her to stay there and be miserable. She had spent a good portion of her life trying to escape misery and it would have just been foolish to trap herself somewhere where she wasn't happy and those that cared for her wanted her to go somewhere that was better suited to her. The woman loved her brother for recognizing this need and wanting it for her. She doubted many in their family would have cared so much, and all his support meant more to her than she could say.

She had spent the time between then and now packing her belongings and saying her temporary goodbyes to those she considered her friends. There were sadly quite few that she wanted to talk to, but those she did meant something to her. The farewells were not sad thankfully, for she would be back to visit. Having everything in order she had gone with her full pack to her brother's den and told him that she was ready to leave. Rikka was glad that he had offered to go with her and was willing to take that time to accompany her. She held some nerves about being accepted in this new pack, but mostly she didn't want to travel outside of the clan on her own. Danger still was imminent and she still feared the blue eyed demon was behind every bush and tree. With Gabriel with her though no one would dare harm her.

The siblings set out from the new borders that encapsulated Inferni and struck out towards the lands of the Miracles pack and hopefully Rikka's new home.

With all of her goodbyes and things in order, Rikka had come and collected her brother. The two left Inferni early in the morning. After Jefferson’s reassurance, the Aquila did not fear passing close to Phoenix Valley. He made certain to give them a wide girth, out of respect more then anything else, and furthermore used that time to identify the pack to Rikka. She had not gone far from Inferni since her attack, and her brother intended to let her know as much as possible. Pack names and leaders, things that she would need to know in order to ensure her safety.

They intentionally cut through the city, staying as far from Dahlia as possible. Luckily, the ocean air kept those flowered scents away. Halifax was not a place that Gabriel enjoyed lingering in, and he did his best to navigate them through it. Occasionally they would come near an unfamiliar wolf, but between his size and often aggressive stance, these strangers fled without conflict or even approach. Even though he was not entirely worried about their travel, Gabriel wanted to ensure as long as she was under his guard, Rikka would come to no further harm.

Not long after leaving the city behind, and late in the afternoon, they were nearing the borders of the pack. Having only crossed near them once before, Gabriel did not recognize the scents outside those he identified with horses. Still in his lupus form, the burly coy-wolf spared a glance to his pale sister. “You ready for this?” He asked, face still with seriousness. If she had needed more time, or wanted to turn back, he would do so in an instant. This he doubted; ever since they had made it past Dahlia it was like Rikka was slowly shaking away a heavy shadow.

As they made their way south she did begin to feel as if a heavy cloak was slowly being pulled back from her shoulders. It felt good to be out moving, her limbs stretching as they hadn't for months. It was the first she had used her lupus form since the attack and it felt good to be in that four legged body again. She had worried that she might not be able to move around as well, what with had happened to her arm, but Gabriel had done a good job of resetting the bone. After some distance a mild discomfort settled in that limb whenever it impacted the earth, but it was easily pushed aside. It was nothing that she couldn't cope with. Rikka listened intently as Gabriel explained the various packs and leaders to her, knowing how important the information was. Especially whenever she wanted to travel back to visit the clan.

Coming closer to the Dahlian borders, nervousness settled in her stomach once again, but as they weaved through the city it began to ease. Whoever they came across, Gabriel was quick to let them know that they were not to be messed with and the wayward canines would move one without incident. Once they left the dreary confines of Halifax her spirits rose again, anticipation and a hint of excitement glinting in her eye and showing in her movement. Of course she would be sad to be separated from her brother, but things would be better overall for her here. Rikka would be more content in Cour des Miracles, and both of them wanted that.

The strong scent of the marked borders came up before them and they halted. The metallic hued woman sniffed the air, taking in the scent. It wasn't familiar, but she wanted to know that scent, to learn it. Gabriel turned to her and she thought for a moment, weighing her feelings. Then she nodded. "Yeah, I think so." Rolling her shoulders, she took a deep breath and rolled her head back to issue a short call for one of the leaders of this band of misfits. Then her golden eyes looked forward, the tip of her tail twitching from side to side. As they waited she glanced back over to her brother, offering him a soft smile.

Amaranth could shift now, and Vigilante was glad to have been able to help her through the experience. He knew that it could be a difficult thing for some young canines, and as far as he knew, the aid of a trusted adult was often sought. The Constable was glad that it had been him to help the young girl through that time, and they seemed closer now. He appreciated that greatly, as he knew that she had been confused or possibly hurt by the separation of her parents and her mother's quick mateship to the man that they had been taught was "Uncle Vigi." He cared about them immensely, and was glad that Mara seemed to be closer to him now. The lynx attack was, of course, worrying, and it had him making more and more rounds every day, worried that something could harm his mate's children or the other young pack members. The potential danger was present, he worried.

It was on one of these rounds that he heard the short call for a leader, and curiousity drew him closer. Vigilante found it amazing that there could be another newcomer so soon, but it should not surprise him, at this rate. He seemed to be answering a number of border calls as of late. Naturally, the large dog trotted in that direction, covering the distance in a short time, curly tail held pleasantly over his back. What he found there confused him, though it was not because there were two of them—it was because they smelled heavily of a pack. Perhaps this was not his usual border call, after all. "Good afternoon," he started, offering them both a smile. "I am Vigilante Haskel, the pack's Constable. Is there something that I can help you with?" The fact that they both smelled so heavily of a pack was what seemed bizarre to him, though he hoped he could help them with whatever it was they sought, regardless.

As they stood and waited a bit of nervousness swelled inside her gut again. Gabriel had said that the leader here was sympathetic towards coyotes and the clan, but she still feared being judged poorly because of her background. It had been easy for her to brush off any such concerns before, but after the accident she was more aware than ever about how someone would and could react to her because of who she was and where she came from. It was true, Rikka looked barely coyote at all, but of course she still smelled like Inferni and with the war still going on she feared they might turn her away, not wanting to take the risk to house her. If that were the case she would just return back with Gabriel, but she'd still be facing the problem of where she could live. Rikka didn't want to be a loner.

Soon a shape came into view and slowly materialized into the form of a dog hybrid. This was the first she had laid eyes on one of their formerly domesticated cousins since she had left The Height and that gave her a good feeling about this place instantly. The man came up to him and offered them a polite greeting. Rikka smiled back at him and dipped her head politely. "It's nice to meet you Vigilante, I am Rikka de le Poer and this is my brother, Gabriel de le Poer," she said motioning to her littermate. "There is, at least I hope you can help. We're both from Inferni, as I'm sure you can tell, but...given recent events I think that perhaps things would be better for me here, if you'll have me. Gabriel will return back to the clan, he just came with me to make sure I arrived safely." Her tail offered a quick, hopeful wag. She was trying not to let her hopes get too high, but being on the cusp of something new it was difficult.

The Constable had done his best to keep himself and his small family out of the grasp of the war, deciding that it would be the most beneficial for him to do so. Jacquez and Firefly had chosen to involve themselves and, considering what Haven had told him about what had happen to Firefly, it had not worked out particularly well. Vigilante was sympathetic for her and her lost litter; something like that was never deserved. It concerned him that things were seeming to touch his happy home, and he had been worried that it would affect them more. So far, however, it seemed to remain in the north with those few incidents here and there. The dog mutt was not terribly concerned, but he had continued his extra rounds of the pack lands and borders, just incase. He felt as though he was doing something beneficial and productive by doing so, and that was as much as he could do, really. He could not stop the war and forbid it from coming near them. That simply wasn't how things worked.

Vigilante smiled, nodding politely at the introductions. He did not know much about the coyote clan, other than the fact that they were involved in the war and that Jacquez considered them worthy of aid. It was likely that he had heard other things in passing, but none came to mind immediately. "Why is it that you feel that this change would be best for you?" he inquired, genuinely curious. He addressed Rikka with the question, though the glance given to her brother was meant to indicate that he could answer, as well, if he needed to. This was certainly a border call with different circumstances than most. He could not recall having ever taken in someone so fresh from another pack, as she obviously was, and the pair being split up was new, as well. He had no problem with how it seemed to be going, but he was curious to know how such a decision had come about. It seemed more than likely that the war was involved, though, with this change of revenue.

The question was more than reasonable, but it wasn't something that she could answer without thinking. There were factors that went into this choice that she didn't really feel would be appropriate to give voice to. She couldn't very well say that she was the black sheep of the family because she didn't believe in violence and the clan was suffocating her. Rikka may not agree with some of the things the clan and her family did, but she wasn't going to paint them as a bunch of bloodthirsty coyotes. Even if she did believe that, which she didn't, she would never even say anything close to that in front of Gabriel. So the woman worked through how exactly to word her answer, hoping that her extended pause would not come off as rude or suspicious.

"Well, I'm a pacifist, and so being stuck in the middle of a war no matter how justified isn't exactly comfortable for me, nor pleasant." That seemed a perfectly acceptable and truthful answer in Rikka's head. "I love my family, but even when this war is finished conflict will undoubtedly follow Inferni. They don't wish for that, but it's a sad reality. My brother and I believe that I will be happier and safer here." She felt somewhat like she was talking in circles, but she was being as straightforward as the situation allowed. The problem was that it wasn't simple and she was doing her best at conveying the situation while keeping her family and the clan in a good light.

The quiet moments that followed were not unexpected. For many, leaving their home and their family was an incredibly hard decision and it seemed probable that it had been a difficult decision for her, as well. Even for him, when he had not felt he'd had any choice, it had been a difficult conclusion to come to. For this reason, he silently waited until she finished her explanation, knowing that it must be a bit hard for her, and when he reasons were given, Vigilante nodded. "Our King and many of our members hold the clan in high regards, and I understand that it must have been a difficult decision for you," he said. "Welcome to the pack, Rikka," he added, not seeing any reason to turn her away when she seemed to need a home to feel comfortable and safe in. The Miracles pack could provide that for her starting now, he hoped.

He remained quiet and still, a gargoyle that breathed but did not move, and watched. His breathing was steady, even, and his gaze never once left the doggish male that had come to speak to his sister. Gabriel did not believe that these people were his enemy—yet he was wary none the less. Largely, this was how the Aquila behaved around all strangers. More so when his sister, whom had been so wounded, was involved. For this reason he had come with her and remained in her shadow, an ominous black streaked beast that did not speak and stared with holy fire.

Only once did he consider speaking, but Rikka had found her voice once more. Then the dog-wolf (for in Gabriel’s mind, he was a dog first) spoke what needed to be heard. Almost instantly, Gabriel was on his feet. After waiting for the mottled man to leave, he turned to his sister. “Well,” the Aquila exhaled, face somber. “You take care of yourself. I don’t want to have to patch you up again.” Though serious, his face broke into a tired smile and his voice was warm.

She was grateful for the man's patience in her pause to gather her thoughts into a coherent reasoning. He seemed to understand that these things weren't easy and she appreciated that understanding. Even if she had never felt completely comfortable in Inferni, leaving hadn't been an easy choice. Part of her had felt as if she were giving up and that had hurt her pride. The only knowledge that allowed her to leave was that Gabriel had wanted this for her and would not hold it against her. Rikka didn't want her family to hate her, especially not her brother. The acceptance came and she smiled, bowing her head in reverence to the Constable. "Thank you Vigilante, truly." She could breathe easier now, she felt.

Still, the happiness of finding a new home was overshadowed by having to say farewell to Gabriel for the time being. At least this wasn't goodbye forever, but with the war still raging she feared for him. Rikka turned to him, a sad sort of smile on her muzzle. "I will, and you as well. I don't want to lose you Gabriel." She moved forward and nuzzled his neck for a moment before standing back to watch him head back towards the clan. As his form disappeared over the horizon she prayed to Mother Earth to keep him safe. He didn't need strength. Her brother had always had that in abundance.
