The time has come to move on. His sisters have left before him and yet, he retained to his home out of sheer familiarity. He was the male of his family, he had to be there for his sisters. Now, they were gone off starting their own lives. It was Ashkir's turn. His mother befriended a tribe long ago, a tribe that hosts a large coastline, and is close to another pack that controls a funny named lake of hilarity.

He heard tales of the beautiful sun setting across the rocks that beat back the ocean. The mysteries of the land intrigued the young pup, and he decided to go to the land of this tale. During the summer he made plans to visit the land of the pack that controlled his childhood dream. And now, the time has come, for him to go off on his own. June. His last sister has just moved off. It was now, the youngest of the litter to move, himself.

Down at the coastline of New Brunswick, where the Bay of Fundy rested, he set off into the water and swum out about twenty yards. He met up with his old friend he made last summer. This friend was a large animal, and an extremely intelligent one. He met the whale in the last summer when he decided to explore the coast and try to swim out to see what was out there. Over the months they became friends. Now the friendship is paying off, he was on his way to a land of dreams. He was what his sister, Cailee called, a Whalebus. Ashkir climbed up onto his back and the whale set off on a swim across the ocean.

Ashkir could have ran to the land of which he wanted to become a part of, but, the run was far too long and let alone he did not know the way. But his friend claimed to know the way. They left in the early morning and travel through the seas with the whalebus cracking jokes constantly which ended up with Ashkir rolling his eyes behind the whale's back literally. A many dreamed to goad the whales across the majestic oceans, but, none had the whalebus. After several hours of traveling, they reached an island.

Instantly a discussion sparked in-between the whale and Ashkir. The island chain was the opening of the land he was seeking to go to. They were now in the water of the territory of the pack. According to the whale he has seen wolves on these islands. But, the whale went past the island and went closer to the main landmass.

Finally. The whale reached as close to the shore as he could. There was an opening, where the water wasn't so rocky. Ashkir stayed on the whale, for protection. The whale could easily out swim the wolves if something went wrong. Only thirty feet from the shoreline, carefully wading in the water, the whale made sure to stay in range of the beach's sight and not hit the rocks. Luckily there was no tide yet, or it would've been a world tougher.

There was no question. When wolves would roam by, they would easily spot the whale and a young wolf on its back, in his regular form howling to the skies.

Ashkir has arrived on a whalebus. Ashkir now had to wait for someone to come by. All he was able to do now was howl to the skies. He sat firmly on the back of the large humpback whale and howled to the skies to be echoed off the rocks. Hopefully soon to grab the attention of someone close by.

It was a relatively sleepy afternoon, and Rurik had his fishing pole and his pack slung over his shoulder. His pace was relatively slow as he made his way toward the coast and the shore, as he was in no particular hurry. As much as the silver-shaded werewolf disliked the idea of actually eating fish, there was nothing better than a lazy afternoon in the sun, dangling a pole in the water. Liliya would eat the fish, that was for sure, and if not, Rurik could always swing by and bring some gifts to someone. Orin and Niro had really seemed to enjoy Liliy's cooking; maybe he could get Liliy to fry the fish up if he happened to catch some. Sadly, Rurik hadn't seen any more of Zasha since that day—it had been interesting to him to meet another Russian, and he would have liked to learn a little more about her particular home range in the motherland.

As he approached the beach, a strange noise caught his ears—this was a howl, one beckoning for attention. Yet he was much too far from the borders for the loudness and proximity of this call. Confused, the blue-eyed werewolf peered around, his muzzle wrinkled and his eyebrows lifted. There was nothing but sand and water that he could see—until his gaze snapped backwards to do a double-take over one particular part of the coastline, where there seemed to be a wolf floating on the water. Blinking his eyes, he set down his pole and bag, and headed out toward the water, utterly confused at this scenario. “Allo stranger! Vhat are you doing all zhe vay out zhere?” he called, his ashen-shaded hands on his hips. Whatever the wolf was standing on seemed to be moving, and after a moment the silvery crest of breath alerted Rurik to what exactly it was—a whale?! He had seen such things before, of course—a crusty seafarer such as Rurik had not traveled the oceans wide and failed to pay attention to the sea itself—but he had never seen a wolf riding one before!

Yeah. That's right! Offshore poker games! (312)

Ashkir Devereux sat there on the back of his best friend, the one his sister Cailee called Whalebus howling to the skies. The whale was growing impatient and wanted to swim away instead of being steady, hovering in one location so close to the rocks. It made the whale uncomfortable. But the whale kept steady throughout the ride, just humming a song along with the endless howling of the black wolf, Ashkir.

It did not take long until the whale gave into temptation to rise a question, "Hey what happened to your sister?" The whale called out and struck a cord with the young wolf and then finally the whale went silent as he awaited an answer from the wolf.

Ashkir paused from his howling and looked down at the whale and spoke anew, "She married some freak named Elvin and moved off." Ashkir was not keen of this Elvin whom took off with his sister, he despised him for the longest while, and still does not trust the wolf.

The young wolf, Ashkir sat there on the back in his wolf form continuing his howl to the skies. Eventually, someone came. A heavy accent, he morphed into his luperci form at the site of the wolf, and spoke out-loud across the water. "What am I doing out here? Offshore gambling! That's what!"

The wolf smiled softly, even though he was in the territory of another pack, he remained on the whale. The whale was his safety net. If something happened, it was his path of escape. Now, he had to confer trust over. How else could he expect a pack he'd join in without accord. "May I join you upon the land? My friend here won't be able to, however, so it'll just be me." Ashkir smiled as he stood a top the large humpback whale.

WHALEBUSSSS

What magic or madness had gotten ahold of this wolf's mind? Rurik laughed with the absurdity of it all, though he was easy-going enough. He took this new development in stride—after all, it did not truly affect him how this man chose to travel. The silver-shaded werewolf could not see himself making a long journey on the whale's back; certainly one needed a place to stash food. But for shorter distances, such as to the many islands scattered throughout the coast of the territory, he could certainly see a whale coming in handy. The canine shouted something back, and this immediately caught the werewolf's attention. “Oh, ya? Vhat you play? Poker? Blackjack? I hope your cards are not vet!” the werewolf declared, laughing heartily.

Again the stranger spoke, and Rurik glanced up and down the beach, seeing that he was alone. “Ya, come ashore,” the man said, nodding. It was alright if he came on for a visit for a moment—maybe he was even interested in joining up with the Miracles pack, strange a method as he'd chosen for arrival. Rurik didn't tend to hang around the borders too often, but he was sure this method of transportation had never been utilized prior to this man's arrival.

The house... is rigged. Whalebus keeps cheating! D: (548)

Curiosity seeped into the mind of the young Ashkir Devereux as he thought back to his first reply and reaction to the other Luperci on the coast like. Offshore gambling?! Where in the world did I come up with that?! Well, now to think about it... that is actually a good idea! Ashkir had a grin on his face as he bent over toward the whale's head and spoke softly to the whale, "We need to open one of these what do you call it... money making games... we can bet tasty fish!"

The whale was in favor of the idea. He liked the idea, and spoke up right after the statement Ashkir had made, "I like your thinking young'un. We shall open a casino on my back! And I can eat the fish those others lose!" The whale liked the idea of having a chance to have fish... mainly fresh water fish. He has never tried out fish from the fresh waters, and it would be an eager opportunity for the whale. Oh, how wonderful was the idea of offshore gambling.

Hell, with his whale friend, they could even run a tour service of the islands or even a ferry. Sadly, the whale disappeared often. They had to make plans of when to meet again. The Luperci on the coast replied to Ashkir's first remark and it only begged a grin out of both the whalebus and the wolf himself. "You know. I have no idea. Whalebus here keeps eating all the fish! I think the house is rigged." Ashkir had learned to play some games as a pup from when his father used to hang out with some buddies playing the games late into the night.

Without a second thought, the whale turned over slowly, knocking Ashkir into the water. Ashkir swum across toward the shore, while the whale swum off. When Ashkir reached the shore, the whale came back, and was leaving again, clearly impatient, so the whalebus was now swimming in circles, dodging the rocks. Once the wolf was on the shore, he shifted into his wolf form only to shake the water out of his fur the best he could, and shifted back into the form of the Luperci.

"I suppose I should speak my business," the young wolf spoke up, and stood as straight as he could. He called upon the manners his mother has worked so hard into teaching him as a pup. "I heard stories of this land. Last summer I made friends with this here whale. I'm the last of my litter to leave home, and I've decided to come to the land of the childhood dreams. Stories I heard from when I was a pup, stories my mother told me."

He paused for a moment before speaking again, softly, "I wish to join the pack that controls this land. I believe I have some useful skills if you would like to know." Ashkir bowed quickly to the other wolf, not sure if he was the right one to talk to or not. But, it was something he had to do. "Oh... I'm Ashkir... Ashkir Devereux, son of Kent and Starla Devereux. Er... my mother hailed from here, a Starla Riverdine I think."

The dark-furred wolf and his companion seemed to be conversing; Rurik had never had the pleasure of speaking to a whale. He supposed this particular whale had spent a considerable amount of time around canines, thereby allowing him to acquire their tongue. Such a thing was likely rare companionship, as Rurik had never seen such a thing in all of his wide travels. Added that the two creatures, whale and wolf, were from completely different environments, and one might consider that this was the first (and possibly last) friendship of its kind. Rurik laughed at the stranger's call over the waves, and laughed some more as he watched the whale unceremoniously dump the wolf into the ocean. There was no malice in the marine mammal's gesture, however, and the companionship between these two unlikely friends seemed gentle.

The dark-furred canine stated his business and introduced himself, to which the silver-shaded werewolf nodded, extending his hand forward to shake with the other canine. Such a gesture was rarer on this side of the world, but it was a difficult habit for Rurik to break. Hand-shaking as a greeting was quite common on the far side of the world, and Rurik would always have some trouble remembering that it was not as widespread to these parts. “Captain Duke Rurik Russo of the Cour des Miracles pack, good to meet you” the silver-shaded werewolf said, using both his title and his rank in his introduction, though these things were not said with a vain flourish in the least. It was true, Rurik was proud of his boating skills and his pack, but he did not hold such things above others—intentional rudeness was simply not a part of the Russian wolf's character. The swain werewolf grinned and threw his arm wide to indicate the coast. “Zhis is all Miracles land, you see. I cannot accept you to zhis pack, however if you vould tell me vhat you do, I can call someone,” he explained. As the Duke, he was not permitted to actually accept members to the pack—which was fine with him—but he was glad he'd been here on the coast today to witness this sight.

Try and shut him up. I dare you. Try. (851)

The sun was still high in the sky, but slowly starting to set which signaled a time which that Ashkir and the whale friend have been out for a long while. They left at the crack of dawn, and now with the sun setting the afternoon has faded away. It was the longest ride of Ashkir's life. Just to think of it, his last summer was spent trying to communicate with the whale.

Though the two speeches were different. If the wolf tried to speak like the whale it seemed like a mockery to his people. The whale learned his speech. After some time, he had learned the whale had one canine friend long ago and started learning to speak the speech of the dog there. Now the whale was the friend of Ashkir, and with Ashkir his speech became much better, aside from the occasional questions asking how to pronounce certain things or word guessing.

Standing on the shore, Ashkir's legs trembled. It was an endearing sight. He had to regain his balance on the land, he has gotten too used to the whale, and shifting his weight so he wouldn't fall off unintentional. However, the whale sure did like to send Ashkir flying off across the water when he made a smart remark toward the whale. The two made quite the pair, and that couldn't be denied. Who else could make a friend with a whale? Let alone, nobody knew what normal whale behavior was. But the whalebus and Ashkir got along just fine.

The whale made another lap around the rocks and shouted some words, "Remember to bring some fish from the er... water roads!" The whale paused for a few seconds during his speech trying to place the word for 'river' but couldn't, so in the place of the word he used something else that made sense, at least to him. The whale continued on after shouting, without a reply from Ashkir. He was sure a one of a kind whale. Ashkir was eager to see his friend once again, after he got settled into the new land. Before he leaves to go further into the land, he'd need to make plans on meeting the whalebus again. Perhaps others would like to see such a majestic creature that rules the seas.

Now, the wolves ruled the lands. The whales ruled the oceans. A wolf and a whale made quite the pair, something that wasn't seen so often. It was a friendship that was forged to last lifetimes, if they were lucky enough to be granted lifetimes upon the Earth. The whale was clearly the best friend of the wolf. Not normal behavior at all for a wolf.

Then again, what is normal? Ashkir Devereux is not a normal wolf. He was born last of a five kit litter. He was born on a separate day then the others of his litter several minutes after the day has turned becoming the only one born on the next day. When learning to hunt, Ashkir scared away the animals. Well, if they understood canine speech they would have laughed their little behinds off. Ashkir had to be the singing wolf when it came to hunting. He was not a quiet animal at all.

The canine that greeted Ashkir from the shore spoke in reply after Ashkir finally shut up from is overzealous rant of introducing himself. A Captain? Curious. How does one become such a captain? Hmmmm... He tilted his head to his side while listening to Captain Duke Rurik Russo introduce himself and state the name of the pack. "Good to meet you too!" Ashkir blurted out during the handshake. Handshakes were not foreign to the wolf, and he held a firm handshake toward Rurik. Four shakes and he pulled back his hand.

"Well. I don't know that much of these lands," he continued in replying to the silver wolf. "I like to explore. Not just land, but islands too. I saw something out in the water. Something shiny. I jumped in and went to get it. Whalebus had the same idea too. Over time, we kept running into each other and he spoke to me randomly one day after I kept saying 'hi' or 'hello'." Okay Ashkir, shutup, get back on topic. Don't you dare trail off again... Ashkir quickly gave himself an order in his mind.

Without further ado, the young wolf continued on with his reply. "I am pretty good at gaining trust and helping. Groups of wolves have traveled past our home, I went to help them out a lot. One time a group used me as a messenger to another group they were hostile with. I was some sort of agent or something like that. It was a lot of fun." Ashkir paused to take a breath before continuing. The order he gave himself mentally did not have much effect. "I am not a good hunter at all. I keep scaring animals away. I never caught anything before. Dad called me hopeless before he disappeared."

The silver-shaded werewolf himself was quite acquainted with the concepts such as sea legs and land legs; he had plenty of experiences adjusting to both, either way. Rurik was a sea-loving wolf, for certain, but there was only so much one could see while traveling over the ocean. It was beautiful, but above all else, Rurik preferred coastal cities and coastal packs such as this one. Cour des Miracles was a beautiful place, its coastlines far surpassing both Syemv and Aremys's territory. The coal-dipped ears of the Russian male perked upwards to catch the words sounded by the whale. He lifted his hand in a wave as the creature made his way away. “Vhat a nice fellow,” he muttered to himself, turning to Ashkir as the man began to speak. Rurik listened intently, trying to follow the sable-shaded man's frantic pace. Rurik was, of course, given to speaking a great deal—but generally his pace and tempo through his speeches was not as quick as this man's.

As Ashkir finished speaking, the silver-shaded werewolf frowned, and shook his head. “Vell, I do not zhink you are useless at all, Ashkir. Even if you do not hunt, being friendly and exploring—zhese are two things I am good at, too, and I make my home here! Your friend—Vhaleboos?— maybe he help, too,” the silver-shaded man suggested, grinning broadly. “I zhink you vill fit in just fine here. I vill call zhe leaders here for you, ya? They vill tell you for sure if you can stay,” the silver-shaded werewolf stated, nodding his head confidently. He was sure this Ashkir would find a home in Cour des Miracles—this pack was extremely friendly, Rurik thought, and they wouldn't have a problem with this coal-shaded man or his marine mammal friend, if he decided to come back. The silver-shaded man took a few steps back and howled specifically for their leadership, beckoning for Vigi or Ruri to show up—he was not quite so familiar with either of them, but he was not nervous. Both were quite nice to him and his family, and everyone had made him feel perfectly at home thus far.

Fish. Om nom nom nom! (342)

Ashkir Devereux stayed quiet for several seconds in order for him to listen to Rurik Russo. Without a second thought Ashkir came up with answers to the statements of which were made by the other man. It made Ashkir curious. How possibly could the whale be helpful? Then a stream of ideas flowed into the mind of Ashkir. The whale was a friend to a canine, that is something unusual. This pack had a lot of islands in their territory. Transportation? The whales can swim a lot faster then a wolf is able to.

Hell, a whale can travel further in one day then a wolf usually can. He'd love to help I bet! He loves to swim! Though he tells really bad jokes. I still don't know what he was trying to tell me about his aunt whom was a flowerbee or something." Ashkir lifted up his hand and scratched the side of his head as his own words and thoughts set his mind into a state of confusion. Whalebus could be confusing. The jokes he cracks constantly did not make sense, most of the time. Whales sure have an odd sense of humor.

"He's been bothering me for fresh water fish. He loves fish. I like tasty fish too sometimes. They make good snacks. Hmm... if I get accepted into this land... can someone show me the where the good streams of fresh water fish are?" Tasty fish... om nom nom, Ashkir licked his lips and continued. "Whalebus would love to try some fresh water fish." He had an urge to nod his head, but he kept it still.

But, he couldn't resist. He had to nod while he continued to speak his piece. "Yes, please fetch the leaders! Also! How long of a run would it be? I'll need to tell whale when to meet me and where to meet me. Just in case. Plus, if I do get accepted... Whalebus has to know when I'll be back at the shoreline to visit!"

The Haskel man had heard the howl, his two-legged form moving quickly to the source of the call. Another joiner did not surprise him. Vigilante had come to realize that the Miracles pack would always continue to grow, and he was fond of this. He was glad to know that the pack was still growing and prospering, even in the entire month after the disappearance of their former king. Vigilante had wanted to be capable of carrying the pack on smoothly, and thus far, he had.

As he came closer to the source of the call, the tall man breathed in the cool, salty air. He'd come to realize that he would miss this, if he were ever to leave. The first few years of his life had been spent inland, away from the ocean's touch. He had not been fond of it upon his arrival here, but that had certainly changed for him now. The ocean was calming, and the coast here was beautiful. He would not trade the life and home that he had made here for the world. It was all he needed.

Vigilante approached the pair, jade eyes settling on them instead of the churning waters. "Hello, Rurik," he said with a dip of his head. "I am Vigilante Haskel, the King of this pack. Would I be able to help you two with something?" He looked expectantly between the two werewolves.

Thank you sie for making me want to join <3. (518)

Nearly instantly after Ashkir Devereux asked questions to the Captain Duke Rurik of Cour des Miracles another wolf arrived. The whale was not yet back, so he wouldn't be able to interrupt them with some random joke that made no sense, which eventually ended up with strange stares. The whale however did offer a Manichean glimpse of the world at first but now, it has grown to be much more. It opened up new worlds.

The canine that arrived held bright jade eyes. A strange sight for the Ashkir Devereux. Jade eyes were not common across the water. The canine with the beautiful jade eyes spoke up and greeted the duke of the land and introduced himself to Ashkir. Ashkir quickly bowed before Vigilante Haskel. King. Hmm. I haven't heard of a king before. This should be fun! It was all a new learning experience for the young wolf. A great opportunity at the same time. Hopefully Ashkir's hyper attitude and the fact that sometimes he doesn't seem 'right' in the head interfered with his chances to join the pack. He was actually a good person, past his overly trusting nature.

"Hello Vigilante Haskel," Ashkir spoke back with a stunning copy of the exact pronunciation. At first it may seem like a mockery, but it was how Ashkir learned uncommon names, it would wear off quickly. "King of this pack! Yes! There is something that you can help me with!" Ashkir quickly became excited and stopped his repetition of the pronunciation of the name.

"I am Ashkir. Ashkir Devereux. Long ago my mother lived here, though, not for very long. She told me stories of this land, and after my sisters moved out it was my turn to move on... I decided to come here. I left this morning from the Brunswick lands across the fundy fun bay." Ashkir stopped talking for a few seconds to catch a breath during his rapid speaking. It did not occur to him exactly how long of a travel it is by land, even though it was much, much longer. The other canine may catch on, but it was not in his mindset.

"You see! I'd like to join this pack. I'm not a good hunter for some reason. But, I like to talk a lot, and I am very, very helpful. I like to go off and explore and help people I never met before. Yup, I do." Ashkir continued his excited rant. This king person sounded like a leader to him.

Ashkir bowed again, "I would like to submit a bid to join this pack. However, before I go further in the land I need to tell my friend where he can meet me again." The whale was still not in sight, so the only other person there besides the king was Rurik. The whale would be back in a few moments. Ashkir frantically tried to hold himself still, and he succeeded. All now he had to do was play the waiting game, and hopefully a favorable response would come from this king person.

The silver-shaded werewolf was impressed by this friendship. He had never been that close with any creature—the Russian wolf was generally not one to keep pets, though some of his siblings kept small animals here and there. He laughed heartily at the mention of the whale's jokes, though he certainly didn't understant flowerbee aunts any better than Ash did. “Even so, he sound like good man,” the silver-shaded werewolf suggested. The sable-shaded man grinned at the mention of fish, and erupted in another peal of laughter. “You come to right place for feesh! I do not eet feesh, you see, but I catch zhem since I was leetle keedlet,” Rurik said, approximating his height at the time with his hand. “I vill show you anytime,” he added merrily, his tail wavering friendliness. He liked making himself useful, and fishing was one of his talents, of course.

It was not long before the King arrived, and the silver-shaded werewolf dipped his head respectfully, offering the man a friendly smile. Before Rurik could answer the leader's question, however, Ashkir took care of everything, introducing himself and stating his purpose for coming. Rurik grinned at the man's question, and lifted his hand to interject. “Zhis coast all belong to Cour des Miracles, Ashkir. Anyvhere here, I zhink. Veegee, Ashkir has good friend—you ever see a vhale before?” the werewolf said, laughing. “Maybe make good friend to Cour des Miracles, too,” Rurik added, smiling still. “I zhink I vill take my leave here—you two vill feeneesh fast if I go, and I get to feeshin',” said Rurik, straightening up. “Take good care, mine friends!” the silver-shaded werewolf added, lifting his hand to wave to both canines. The werewolf began to meander away, heading down the coastline, searching for that perfect spot to waste away an afternoon with his fishing pole and flask.

WotD: Fathom.

The newcomer spoke rapidly, and Vigilante listened intently to ensure that he caught everything that he had to say. Most of it did not seem to require a reply, as it was mostly explanation. However, one bit did cause his ears to perk up a bit. "A... vhale?" he repeated, trying to think of what that was. Frankly, he could not fathom what a "vhale" was, but it was apparently something that a canine could befriend. Perhaps it was a small animal, like the ones he knew that some of the pack's members kept as pets, or perhaps it was something like a horse. Many members kept them, as well, the King included.

Vigilante nodded good-bye to Rurik as the man left, then focused his attention once more on Ashkir. It was respectable that he was willing to admit that he was not good at something—most only spoke of their skills, not their weaknesses. It was also very obvious to the secui male that the newcomer enjoyed speaking a great deal. The pack was accepting of just about everyone, and being friendly would certainly help him become integrated into the pack's way of life quickly. "You seem like someone who would be a good addition to the pack," he said. "Did you want to call for your friend now, or wait? We do not need to go anywhere, unless you wish to. Did you have any questions about the pack?"

The duke of the new land, Rurik Russo spoke up to Ashkir from his stance. The whale still has not yet returned. Fish. Whale would like that. Fresh fish. Ashkir ignored the heavy accent tongue of Rurik because he was used to travelers migrating or coming to the land through the parts he was born and raised in. Though, now that the king arrived the duke captain took off, leaving the young wolf alone with this... so-called king.

Vigilante Haskel, the king of the land spoke up. If Ashkir had realized the significance of Vigilante trying to determine what the accented language meant he would of laughed. "I don't think... I know. I'd love to stay here, in this land," Ashkir gave a weak smile as his mind became plagued. Joining them... I hope they don't have us in the land. I want something by the beach.

His questions were answered. The whale finally came back around and emerged. A large humpback whale shouted across the water, "So I take it you're staying?" Ashkir simply nodded and the whale knew. "Bye friend, I'll meet you at the city with the harbor to the North by the next moon," the whale's voice carried over several fathoms of water as he submerged. 'By the next moon' was a phrase the whale have always used toward the young wolf. He knew exactly what he meant. Two weeks time.

He waited a few seconds to allow a reaction towards the whale to calm down as the whale disappeared from sight. "Whale seems to think there is a city up North. Is there housing that is okay up there?" Ashkir asked quickly out of curiosity. "Oh... and do I have to hunt?" The young wolf was not a great hunter.

300+ words.

Honesty was something that the vigilante king could appreciate, and even if Ashkir did not know what it was that he had for skills, honesty appeared to be one of them. Vigilante considered this for a moment, deciding that it was more than enough of a satisfactory answer. "The basic starting rank for members here is Seigneur," he said, "and as you integrate yourself into the pack, you will move up the ranks. Eventually, you will be able to choose an official job to do, if you wish, but you will have plenty of time to think of what interests you." It was not a mandatory thing for a member to pick up a co-rank, and he knew that there were a number of higher-ranked and long-standing members that did not have a specific job, and that was fine.

Before long, they seemed to be joined by the friend that Rurik and Ashkir had mentioned. Jade eyes widened in surprise, and Vigilante's body went rigid. As the whale went on his merry way, the King stared at the pack's newest member. "What was that?" he asked incredulously. He suspected it was the "vhale" that Rurik had mentioned, and from that, he could say that, no, he had never seen one of those before. He did not know what it was or whether or not it was safe, but if Rurik and Ashkir did not consider it dangerous... Well, he did not know Ashkir well, either, but he trusted Rurik's judgement on this.

As the inevitable moment of concern about the whale passed, the subject drifted, and Vigilante was glad for it. "There is a very large city, Halifax, far to the north, but it is not in our territory. However, within our territory, we have a smaller city, Lunenburg, and the houses are safe. I live there with my family. Most of the homes there are not claimed, either. As for hunting... You would need to make sure that you can eat, though nothing extravegent. I know we have a number of good hunters here that would be willing to help you out, perhaps teach you, and of course we have fishing," he added, nodding towards the large expanse of ocean.
