It had taken Eli a long while, but it seemed that finally he had reached his destination. His patience and determination had beat all the odds, for his nose found Gabriel's scent all over the lands. It was all he could do to hold back tears of joy, but Eli wouldn't allow himself to be elated just yet. There had been many times early on in the journey where he had taken false leads and had found nothing but disappointment. His faith had allowed him to continue even when the odds were stacked against him, but what he had now come across seemed to be the real thing.

The border was lined with an intimidating arrangement of skulls, but the sight only made Eli smile. He happily sat down in the dirt, absentmindedly pulling and twisting strands of grass as he waited. It had been a long, tiring search but Eli had a wonderful feeling that it ended here. He was almost bursting with eagerness to embrace his dear friend who had been absent from his life for so very long. Once inseparable, Eli could only hope Gabriel was still doing well and would hopefully welcome him to his territory, for after such an impossible search, the one thing Eli craved most was a place to rest and at the end of the day, hopefully, a clan to serve.

Sorry for the delay, we suck. Sad I also changed it and left it sort of open ended so you can decide whether or not the first thread happened or if you want to just hit reload. ;3 Either way is fine! Kae can just think she's going a little nuts, which is just par for the course. Big Grin (453)

Though they had extinguished the hellfire wrought by the demon-wolf, there was no rest for Kaena. She was not nearly thoroughly healed, and she carried a limp now, one she would probably have for the rest of her life. It was not so severe that she dragged her leg against the ground, but it was certainly discernible in the silver-shaded coyote's walk now. Thick and jagged red lines ran along her flanks and her back, scabbed over and well on their way to becoming scars. These were the most severe the silvery coyote had acquired in some time, and she damn well knew it; if it had not been for her wolf savior, she would have perished.

Even so, this still placed the silvery hybrid in an awkward way—she had attacked members of that pack, and she would do so again if they trespassed, assuming her body was still capable of it. It all depended on how well she healed from her wounds—it took a lot longer than it used to, of course. Though she did not feel particularly old, the silver-shaded hybrid had seen many years, and it was beginning to have its effect over her. Even so, there were duties, and the coyote woman could not let them slack any further than she had. It had been weeks recuperating, and if she did not use her muscles, there was the chance of atrophy. If that happened, she would never regain her old strength.

The familiar stretch of land around the border was comforting to the silvery hybrid. She did not have to worry there were demons lurking beyond them any more, though her experience had taught her that sooner or later, someone would come along to replace Haku, and the whole process would start again anew. There was no dread within her; she had survived this one and she had survived Salvaged Eternity. She would prevail again, or she would die in the process—there was no stopping this process. Before long, the scent of a stranger caught her nose, and she drifted toward it, not hurrying herself as she usually might.

As she approached this coyote, an odd feeling of familiarity overtook her—it was not the same as when she met her family members, of course. She would have known he was kin to her. Even so, there was the odd feeling the silvery coyote had met this man before, though she could not quite place him, and she was not certain. “Hello,” she said rather awkwardly, differing from her usual greeting. The silvery hybrid did not know if she knew this man, and she did not wish to embarrass herself if she did or did not.
