Orange Nose & Paws

Ghita ^^

Blue eyes blinked once, then twice as they gaze out onto the water. It was huge. Massive. Enormous. Those being all the words he knew to describe the lake he concluded that it was the largest body of water in the pack lands, and likely the world. How could there be something bigger? It would swallow the entire planet if this lake got any bigger, and he was not ready to learn how to swim. He had just begun venturing out into the world beyond the Manor’s front yard, and he was only a puppy (a large puppy) but only a pup all the same. Big ears swiveled around at he took in the quiet sounds of the lake. He still sat in the thick grasses, not ready to venture out onto the shore yet.

He leaned forward, testing the ground beneath him with a single paw. Ink dipped toes pressed against the mushier peddled ground. He giggled, feeling the water of the lake deep in the shore and the little rocks tickled between his toes. With new found confidence the pup walked out onto the shore. He would stay away from the water, since he didn’t have a partner to swim with nor a teacher to teach him. And he had eaten recently, and remembered some rule about waiting before swimming. His Momma told them many things, and at times she spoke so much he just couldn’t remember everything that she said. He wanted to, and tried so very hard but it was always easy.

The Dreaming pup wandered along the water, careful about the distance he kept, but with a wandering mind as well. A squawk made him pause in his step and he shook his head to clear it, but of course he was curious about what made the noise. It wasn’t the sound of a wolf, nor a horse, and his eyes looked out to see a white round body standing near the water. His tail wagged, and he watched at the thing extended it’s long thin neck and honked at him again. Alder smiled at the other beast, its wings now unfolded and telling him it was a bird.

But it didn’t fly away!

Hello, I’m Alder of Crimsons Dreams. He said brightly to the orange nosed bird, who was waddling over to him. The phrase had been practiced, and said just like his mother had taught him. Finally he would meet a bird, and a big one too. The pup had been trying for days and days, and not he would be able to be friends with one. He honked loudly, and Alder’s smile faded quickly and was replaced with a frightened gasp as the beast’s orange paws beat against the shore, white wings flapping and its body charging right for him.

The pup gave a shriek, turned and ran.

=D Aww! I think my heart melted. Bowling for fowl! =D
Wc: 635

The morning seemed almost average to the wolves; nothing particularly beautiful, or anything ugly for that matter. Ivory and grey clouds dotted the periwinkle canvas above, throwing shadows across the meadows as they passed the sun. A light breeze streaked through the blades of emerald and timber alike, as the Optime fae moved through the land. As a Courser, her plan of the day was to check on her pack's herds, and see if she couldn't pick up a few pieces of prey for the pile. There had been one herd in particular that was worrying her, skirting too closely to the edges of their borders, and Ghita was wondering if a good scare in the other direction wouldn't remedy the situation.

If she remembered correctly, the herd was roughly... Nope, not here. Confusion swept through the Huntress and she bent down, using her one good knee to support her weight while the other one was lifted out of the way, to sniff the ground where she had spotted the herd just two days ago. The scent was slightly stale, but distinct - their direction had changed, for the better. The fae's turquoises spotted a few hoofprints here and there, all leading towards the water. It was summer, after all. Maybe they went to the watering hole for a refreshment? It made sense.

Straightening up, the fae trotted after them, not worrying about stealth just yet. She couldn't see, hear, or smell 'her' herd very well, which meant that they couldn't either. If she was lucky, she could catch them at a run just a few kilometers away, but the danger had been avoided for the present. Ghita's knee wasn't hurting too terribly, but she never knew when the pain would flare up once more. So she kept at her comfortable pace, hurrying to the water with a few less cares than when she'd started.

But then her friend's son came into her eyesight. And, from the looks of things, he was being pursued by something much larger and angrier. Heart leaping in her throat, instinct was the only thing that drove her forward, limping as fast as she could all the while she tried to shift. She was simply too slow in this form - she'd never make it to Alder in time! The shift was flawless, thanks to the practice she had put in before her injury, but her knee gave a small spasm of discontent as her bones shifted and thickened, her chestnut hair growing more coarse, into a scrabbly mane. Giant dinner-plate sized paws pounded the earth now, Ghita keeping her bad knee out of use, and her walking stick now clenched in her jaws.

She met the angry goose head-on, fully determined to stop this unpleasant game of tag before her nephew got hurt. Swinging her head, and her walking stick by proxy, she intended to take a chomp at the offending fowl to scare it away, before her wooden pole followed and smacked the bird square in the chest. Blinking in surprise at what she'd accomplished, she watched the bird fly away for a moment, before turning back to the pup in trouble.

Recognizing Anu in him right away, she also remembered her time sitting with Anu's newly expanded family, and recognized Alder as the one who'd taken to her. Hoping he remembered her, especially in her new form, she ventured a question to him, with all of the sounds of motherhood ringing in her tone. "Are you alright, Alder? It's Ghita - do you remember me?" She now stood in front of him, having dropped her walking stick, and bent her head down to meet his level. In her Secui form, she stood much larger than the boy, and had to stoop to not seem so fearsome.

ahahahaha!

He didn't understand! The bird honked behind him, orange nose extended so far from its little body that he was sure it would snip his tail right off if he didn't run as fast as he possibly could. His little chest heaved air in and out of his lungs, so hard and fast that it began to burn. his legs were numb as he scampered through the gravel like beach sand. He hadn't done a thing to the creature, and introduced himself so nicely. Fear riddled his form and he could feel the tears in his eyes stream across his cheeks.

Again he cried out, so scared that the bird would get him. Back paws pushed, front pulling. The chase felt like it took hours, though it was only a few moments long and the swan had only chased him down the shore a small ways before the adult came to save him. It was like a miracle, like his wishes had been made truth and like she had come from no where to scare off the angry beast.

Alder fell to the ground, turning on his belly and closing his eyes while the battle between wolf and fowl ensued. Round body moved up and down as he caught his breath, eyes sealed tight. A female voice called to him, and he opened on eye bravely. He sat up, sniffing as the tears came freely now. He looked away from the female, wishing that she was his Momma. Her name made him look up to her face, blue eyes glassy from his crying and he recognized her. He nodded, still very upset that the bird had been so unfriendly.

Hello Gihita He said, remembering his manners but forgetting her questions. Still he cried, trying to sit so very still and not understanding what he had done. His shoulder shook slightly, even with his effort to stop them.

Aww, Alder! D: *cuddlessqueezesuntileverythingisbetter*
Wc: 345

Looking down at the poor frightened pup, Ghita could only imagine how scary it would be to be chased by a very angry swan on one of your first adventures out of the Manor. The boy pulled at her heartstrings, that was for sure, the fae remembering her own childrens' adventures in him. Waiting until he opened his eyes to look at her, she smiled gently once he did, motherly instincts propelling her to be gentle and kind to the frightened boy. Giving him a quick look-over to ensure he wasn't hurt, Ghita was satisfied that nothing was broken, or bleeding too much. All the same, perhaps she should take the pup to see Cambria - she'd know how to soothe a scared pup better than she could.

But always and forever, a mother's touch would be the best to help a scared child. Standing in awkwardly for Anu, Ghita bent her large head down and gave the boy a small lick on his ear, trying to comfort him. "Hey, it's okay. The bird's gone now, and it won't come back. I promise." Happy to know that he recognized her, that was at least something - better than some random stranger showing up to save him. And with luck, he'd trust her enough to take him back to the manor.

Looking back to check where her walking stick had ended up, it was only a few feet away, the fae having dropped it after she'd hit the swan. A few white feathers could still be seen around where she'd hit it, but nothing else. Furrowing her brow, she marked the place where it had fallen, knowing that she'd have to come back for it later on, after Alder was safely with Anu. "Alder, do you want me to help you find your Mommy right now?" She asked, head still as level with his at it could get. If the pup needed a hug, or a bit of physical comfort, she could help a little, but Anu's touch would be the most healing for the boy.

No, he shouldn't have done that. Of course he wasn't sure what he had done in the first place but his actions had definitely been all wrong. It would have been best if he had greeted from further away, a friendlier distance as his mother would say. Alder shook slightly from the shock of it all, sniffling as Ghita gave a small lick to his head, assuring that the bird would not be coming back. He wished he was as brave as the wolfess, wished that he hadn't turned tail and ran like a baby. The pup shuffled closer, still half seated, wanting to be between the wolf's front legs and leaned into her with a black paw resting on her larger one. His tears had subsided and he was able to speak between the sniffles. I fought that I was being nice. He claimed, speaking of the bird's negative reaction to his greeting. I saids my name and everythings. I donts understand He claimed, looking up at the female's face and feeling better now that he was at her feet.

His shoulders heaved one last time as he took a big needed breath, climbing the mountain of fear and emotion that had overwhelmed him so suddenly. Her voice came down to him again, and the pup nodded his head at the name of his mother. He wanted her, though Ghita was doing very well as a replacement. He did certainly remembered her, and knew that she was a friend of his mommas, though the mere scent of the pack on her coat was enough to calm most of his anxiety now. Alder waited until she said it was time to go, his rounded body no longer shaking from the adrenaline. Blue eyes blinked up at the older female, glad that she had arrived before the bird had eaten his tail. The thin appendage wagged slightly now as his head rested against her leg.

Just when I think the boy can't get any cuter...
Wc: 264

Admittedly, she was surprised to feel the small puppy press against her foreleg, but not at all resentful. If anything, she was relieved and more than happy to be of service to the boy. Feeling the small amount of pressure on her paw, she couldn't help but be reminded of her own puppies when they were small. Bending her head down to Alder's, she nosed him gently, letting her ebony nose sit on the top of his cranium for a moment, hoping the contact would help to further reassure him.

"Oh, Alder - I'm sure you were very nice! But the swans don't talk the way we do, so he didn't understand you." She said, smiling at him with all the warmth of a mother. She had briefly forgotten how innocent pups could be, and the variety of ideas that could spring in her head. "And that's the best way to introduce yourself - you did a great job, I'm sure."

Nodding, she understood exactly what Alder needed, and was more than happy to provide. "Alright. Do you want me to carry you, or can you walk yourself?" Either way, the fae would have an awkward limp as she walked, having to leave the walking stick behind. Ghita didn't feel fully up to shifting, afraid of the pain her knee would trumpet, and she didn't want to have to talk around her walking stick to Alder. She knew where it lay now, and could easily return to it once Alder was safe in his mom's arms. "What do you think of the water, Alder?"

hehehe! XD

She was solid and warm against his side as he leaned into the older wolf. He felt the shaking and the fear seep out of his paws and into the ground beneath him. The tears had begun to dry and when he felt the nose on his head he could close his eyes and pretend that it was his mother what he leaned against and asked comfort from. She did that all the time, pressing her nose against his forehead as if she would be able to take all the unhappy thoughts right out of his head.

Blue eyes opened and looked up at the females teal blue and green eyes as she spoke. He had tried to be nice, her certainly had. Her words made sense, but he was upset that the bird couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. He spoke to the little birds all the time and then seemed to ignore him too. He nodded, Oh He said with pure disappointment in his tone. Shoulders heaved heavily as his gave a defeated sigh. Maybe no one would understand him. Her praise made his tail wag, glad that he at lest done the right thing. Now he truly suspected that it was the swan that had been in the wrong and not him.

He would be happy to be home, in the Manor and away from any more orange nosed and pawed creatures. His chest swelled slightly, unlike his brother it was only a slight amount of pride but he still owned some. I’s can walk he said, though deep down he wanted to be carried. The big round pup took his paw off the larger one and stood to now solid black accented legs. He felt better now that the shock was gone from his system and gave a little shake that ended with his thin tail waving and his back paws shaking out one at a time as if he was trying to dry them.

Es wreally big. He said, voice still quiet but only a whisper as to not alarm any near by swans. But his eyes were bright as they turned to see Ghita, tears gone completely.

Instinctively, she knew just from how Alder's heart was quieting, and his body stopped shaking that she was doing something right, offering some comfort to the shaken boy. The fae kept her nose pressed to Alder for a few moments more, letting the comforting warmth seep into Alder in hopes that he would become calmer, ready to fully understand why the swan hadn't replied kindly to the boy's introduction. Ghita wasn't sure if Alder would fully grasp the concept of different languages yet, but decided to try it anyways - it was better than saying the swan did nott know how to be polite, her second plan.

Luckily she wouldn't have to resort to that, as her temporary charge understood very well, but the disappointment was evident on his face. Biting her pierced lip, she wasn't sure what to say next to him, wasn't sure what could help her friend's son's disappointment. I'm sure if the swan knew what you were saying, he'd love to be friends with you." The fae attempted, unsure if this would help him at all. However, a moment later brought a happy wag to Alder's tail, and the mother was relieved, showing she was doing something right, however unsure she truly felt.

Chuckling, the Italian huntress nodded, expecting this answer out of Alder. "Alright, just let me know if you get tired, okay?" It wasn't that she didn't think Alder could handle the journey home, only that he had been chased at full speed for quite some time (for a young pup), and the shock might still have an effect. Standing up as he did with her hind leg bent out of the way, the fae stretched downwards, extending her good hind leg and letting the front half of her body slack, before straightening up to her full Secui height once more.

Turning towards the manor, the fae assumed that that was where Anu would be. Even if she wasn't, Ghita had faith that someone in the Manor would know where she was, and the unlikely pair could seek his mother out. Watching Alder to make sure he was following her, she nodded, trying to make her limp as discreet as possible. "You know, a very long time ago, I crossed the entire Sea to reach Crimson Dreams. It's a lot bigger than it looks. Maybe Anu will take you to see it one day?"

Birds were funny things. They sang songs instead of speak with words like wolves, and they lived in trees, and had feathers and could fly. The swan was unlike the other song birds that Alder knew about, bigger for one but then its honking didn’t sound like a song at all. He had been ugly and mean and Alder wished they had never met. But Ghita’s explanation was helping him understand, and the idea that the words that he said did not sound the same in the swans ears. Of course it didn’t even seem to have ears, but that was a question for another day. Alder smiled at the thought of being friends with the bird, if they could understand each other. He would have liked to touch the orange feet of the birds, their didn’t seem to be any fur on them, and such a funny thing had to feel funny too. But, alas, they could not be friends. I’d be scareds too He commented soflty, not understanding completely that his fear had been brought on because there was a language barrier between the two species.

The pup nodded his head, figuring that the walk wouldn’t be too long and sure that he wouldn’t tried a single bit. Of course he didn’t understand that Ghita herself was in discomfort, he didn’t exactly noticed the wolfess’ odd posture. His eyes were looking at the detail on her face and fur when he glanced at her, not truly taking in the full picture. He was happy that she was here and glad that he could stick close to her as they walked. He stunk around her front right paw as they made their way, letting her lead them and thinking only about her presence and his own footing (making sure not to fall) rather then the direction. Adults always knew best.

Alder looked up at the sound of her voice, taking in the idea of crossing the ocean. He knew that the lake was surrounded by land all around and the sea was not. The sea had whales and sharks and seahorses. The lake had fish and ducks, and apparently swans. He was quiet baffled at the someone could cross the lake, let alone the sea. How’ds j’you do that? He asked, watching his paws step over a twig and then looking back at the adult, bafflement in his gaze and brown ear perked forward with great interest. The memory of the swan would remain with him, but for the moment it was lost as they spoke.

Looking down at her young charge, the fae could see that most of the shock had passed. Without another word, she stood up, smiling gently at him, before she was stopped by his comment 'I'd be scareds too.' It showed a depth of maturity she hadn't expected in a puppy so young, but she was pleased nonetheless. Without knowing it, Alder had touched on a vital issue in Ghita's past - communication.

When she had first arrived in Canada, Ghita had only been able to speak a few words of English. And everywhere she went, she was suspicious of her packmates, now her friends, only because she hadn't been able to understand their motives. Ghita herself had been anti-social, morose, and altogether miserable, just based on the simple lesson Alder was learning with him and the swan. You can't sympathize with what you can't understand - Ghita had been the swan once, now teaching the younger of her pack these more important lessons.

Ghita had long since gotten used to the physical subtleties of her new condition - her walking stick, the odd gait she'd adopt for walking, but she couldn't get over the attention that it brought every day, no matter which wolf greeted her. There was simplicity in walking with Alder, the missing feature in day-to-day interactions. He didn't seem to notice - or care - that her leg was disfigured and causing the fae's difference. And that was the truly important lesson here, not the lack of communication between fauna and fowl.

She couldn't help but smile at Alder's youthful awe. Turning her gaze back to another time, she remembered her details of the trip across the sea. "It was a very long time ago." She began, milking the story for all it was worth. "It was on something called a boat, something that can run on the water and carry wolves across. The trip was a very long one, and there were lots of waves, so it was a little dangerous, but I made it, we all did."

There was always something to learn about, the world being so big and all. It wasn’t easy for him to always accept these new things, accept that he hadn’t learned yet. Again and again it happened and though Alder liked to learn he was so very easily overwhelmed. The swan had taught him something very important, and though he would continue to try to talk to those around him, even if it was just a little chatter, the bird had told him that he wouldn’t always be accepted in these trials. Some would like him, other wouldn’t. Some would ignore him just like the little song birds, while other fear him like the swan. Alder didn’t think himself to be anything that was scared, not understanding fully that his timid gentle personality did not mask the big rumpus body that he owned.

This new idea that someone could travel over water was another mind boggling thought. He looked out onto he lake, trying to imagine it and finding him mind empty. Ghita began to explain and he looked up at her, ears against his crown and eyes pools of dreamy blue and filled with wonderment. All of these things were new for Alder, a boat, the sea, something that ran on top of the water and battled waves. The only waves he had ever seen were on the lake, and nothing that a boat runner could be frightened of.

He didn’t know what to say, baffled and in awe at her story. It was unreal, and he looked back to the path in order to gather his puppy thoughts. Black tinted paws stepped carefully over the uneven ground, still not noticing the uneven gait of the wolfess beside him. And just as he could accept any oddity that might come from her walking Alder accepted this knew understanding of the sea, after a little bit of thought. Dids you see a whale? He asked as he looked back up at the female.

Daw, Ghita's all excited now!
Wc: 343

Another thing that the mother had missed about young puppies was their unabashed awe about everything they learned about the world. Ghita had known about boats for most of her life, and so hadn't really anticipated Alder's complete awe at hearing about something that could cross the sea. She watched as Alder turned his head back to the lake, no doubt trying to imagine something that could compare, but Ghita was unsure he'd find it - the sea was much bigger and better than the lake in it's own right, and unless Alder had been there, he might not know what it's true prowess could be.

Before she knew it, an idea had sparked in her mind, and it now poked and prodded at her, refusing to go away. Lips curling upwards at the prospect, she turned back to her small charge, realizing he was walking on again, and followed him. Taking his question into thought, she shook her head after a moment, remembering that the ocean had been devoid of creatures for most of the journey. With the fall of humans, a lot of the animals had gotten used to the quiet of a sea without boats - the journey Ghita and her companions made stirred up the water and shocked the life inside it into hiding.

"No, I didn't see a whale, although I wish I did." Stopping for a moment with her hind leg in the air, she quickly took in her surroundings, the fae's sharp mind calculating how long the journey would possibly be, and whether it was worth it. The wind was lighter today, but that didn't mean the waves down at Riuione Beach would be any less. At least it would help give the boy a greater idea of what the sea was. A slight wag in her tail, the fae turned her head down to meet Alder's, and finally posed the question to him. "I can't show you a boat, but maybe after we go see your mom... I can show you part of the ocean!"

^^

He just couldn’t help but feel amazed by the female’s stories. They were things he had never see before, not even heard of. It was like they were from another world, his puppy mind was moldable and easy to accept these new things thought. He wanted to know more and was expecting even more amazing things that Ghita could share. He couldn’t picture a body of water bigger then the Rabbit’s Lake, his eyes big and round as he tried to.

Had she, had she? He thought over and over again. Whale were supposed to be things so big that they wouldn’t have been able to fit in the Manor. They were things that lived in the ocean and drank salt water. They were something more amazing then Adler would ever truly know, the prospect was overwhelming. Of course the pup was disappointed that the woman hadn’t met a whale, and too immature and inexperienced to stop the feelings from surfacing.

He wasn’t sure what to say, not wanting to make her feel bad or to show he disappointment though his words. A bit anxious Alder simply walked along until she spoke again. The idea didn’t sink deeply into her mind at first, and he was sure what she meant. But at a second examination he understood! He looked brightly up at the female, his smile bigger then Ghita had ever likely seen it. Thin tail wagged almost violently, it impaired his walk beside the female. Okay! He said, trying to far to control his excitement that he found it hard to breath.

Unaware of Alder's disappointment painted on his face, Ghita's mind was worlds away, although her eyes trained on the pup to make sure the journey would be fine. Alder was strong, or so his large frame suggested, he almost as big as Aro, who took after Jazper's size! The two would be a formidable pair in defending Crimson Dreams' borders later in their lives. But for now, she was entrusted with the pup's safety, delivering him back to his mother after the awful shock from the swan. However, the trip was still salvageable, and lessons had been learned to prevent another ugly situation in the future.

Vehemently, a distant memory of the journey across the sea surfaced, although the details themselves were hazy. Ghita's memory seemed to linger more on the fae's time in Italy, and time in Canada, and less on the actual journey itself. The conditions of the journey were fuzzy in her mind, only the feeling of the waves crescendoing and falling a clear memory. Here and there faces made their ways into Ghita's mind, but they weren't specific, only hinting at the fact there were other companions on her journey.

She wished that she could remember more. It was a vital point in her life, a moment other lupines would make sure to remember, to cherish - but not her. Ghita had left the memories on the shore as she arrived, with the new start of her new life. In any case, not remembering her journey wouldn't be a fatal flaw, just a regrettable victim to old age, where memories had to be sifted around to accommodate each day's new miracles.

Brought from her reverie by a change of movement in Alder, the mother stared at Alder with her turquoise orbs, before breaking into a smile herself. Her heart sang the melodies of joy, that she was able to cheer Alder up and perhaps take his mind off of the shock. Her tail began to wag as well, growing in speed until it started hitting the backs of her legs. "Just tell me when you want to go, and I'll be more than happy to take you."

His small puppy brain was not formatted to remember everything, but he would be able to keep these moments. Though there would be many days where Alder would forget. He would forget the times when Ghita had saved his tail from an orange beak and when they had sat on the porch together. But they would never be forgotten forever. A smell or a wandering mind and a day dream might take him back, a conversation that spoke of fowl or of rescuing or of being chased might bring him back to this day. But for the moment he simply walked beside Ghita, his eyes on the path and his simple mind focusing on his gait as well as the ideas that the older female brought to him.

Such a journey was still beyond his understanding. He didn’t have much of an idea of how large the world really was. His blue eyes has yet to examine a map, nor see a globe and come to realize that his home was nothing but the smallest speck of space on a huge planet. But, he was able to understand that it had taken a long long time, much longer then a day or even two and it was an ocean that they had to cross.

Alder hoped to see the sea, and his mind draw images of what it looked like. He had never seen the shoreline and the waves. Such things would certainly frighten the timid male, who despite his size would always have an anxious and unsure persona, if they were at their highest tide. But he would dream of seashells, sand between his toes and sea birds with their throaty calls.

He pup’s ears were the window to his emotions, just as much as the lines of his face and just as uncontrollable. They moved down, the need to be submissive in more of a pleading way overwhelming. Wreally? He spoke, still needing for her to tell him again that yes she would keep her word. How far es it? He piped as he turned from begging to curious. Silently he wondered if they could go now, having no idea where the sea even sat.

Blinking down at her young protege, the fae couldn't help but smile, before stopping in her tracks, and bending her head down to Alder, so that the pup could stare into her turquoise optics on an even level. Sitting down as best she could with her destroyed leg, she let a moment pass before extending a front paw to him, and speaking to him. "Alder, I promise that I will take you to see the Ocean whenever you want." A playful smile playing at the corners of her mouth was the only thing that distracted from Ghita's commitment. If Alder wanted to see the large expanse of water that Crimson Dreams hid to the south, so be it - she'd walk as long as she had to to get him there.

She knew that Alder's personality didn't match his large frame. Just as much as Ghita's small frame didn't fully give testament to her strong, fiery nature, Alder's body was too large for his personality. He could hide within himself to mask his insecurities, or put on airs that he wasn't as timid as he was, but those who knew him well would know the mismatched proportions. Just like those closer to Ghita knew that her smaller frame was no reason to underestimate her, especially when touched by an issue that she was particularly sensitive to.

The distance was the same from here to the most southern part of Crimson Dreams' territory, but that didn't mean that it meant the same thing to both wolves. Ghita, at the peak of her health, could easily run to the ocean in a matter of just over an hour, but with her damaged leg, that might be extended to just over two. But Alder couldn't run as fast as she could - and truth be told, it might take the better part of a day for the pair to make it down to the ocean and back, and that wasn't including the time it would take to fully enjoy the joys of the ocean.

Thinking now, the fae mulled over the distance quietly, already thinking of places to stop along the way, and the quickest way there. "Well, the ocean is quite far away from here, so it'll take a while. I think it's the farthest part of our territory." Had Alder even been much beyond the Manor? She didn't know - that was something she'd have to ask Anu. "All in all, it'll take a day to get there and back." Now, whether or not Anu would like Ghita taking her son on a day trip to see the ocean was a whole other matter - Jazper would certainly understand and respect the desire, since Sophia and Aro were more than old enough to take care of themselves, without an overbearing mother to fuss over them.

Alder always felt small even though his body was not. Compared to his brothers he was much beefier, taller and bigger in just about ever yway. But he didn’t think he was, though he would soon look down at them, he always felt like the smallest of the litter. Oak’s courage, and Cypress’ outgoing nature always outmatched Alder’s fearful and unsure personality. It was true that beside the grown wolfess he was nothing but a fraction, but he felt like a half of a half of a half and then half of that. Her voice was like she was calling from a tower, and yet the warmth of her breath and her smile were so very close. He paused just as she did, staying in stride with Ghita just as he did with his Momma. And just as she struggled to get a comfortable seat Alder fell on his rump.

Her words made his smile widen, and his tail waving behind him so excitedly. His voice was pretty lost in the anticipation that came over him, it felt like there was nothing on earth that he wanted to do more. He couldn’t wait! And the question was still unanswered, how long would it take?? Could they go now? Alder hadn’t heard anything thus far that would make him believe that they couldn’t but he waited with patience for the female to explain it to him.

Oh, it was far. Alder felt a bit sadden by the fact. The pup grew worried at her claim, believing it well enough and unsure if such a thing was even possible. It had taken him most of the day to venture here, hadn’t it? He wondered as he glanced up at the sky to see where the Sun sat, he mother had taught him to look to the bright face to see the time. A whole day? He was astonished and felt a bit deflated. Thass a lonnng time. He told the woman. He had never been so far from home, Momma wouldn’t like it. He had only just been able to leave the porch, the mindful whelp didn’t think he had graduated to far away adventures quite yet.

Ghita's mind is scheming and imaginative... XD
Wc: 339

Even without looking at Alder, she knew instinctively that he would be disappointed with the length of time. However, she didn't want to push the pup's endurance just to reach something that may or may not really impress him all that much. There was something about youthful imaginations that could easily build something up to be more impressive than they actually were. It would be awful if Alder was disappointed by the ocean. Then again, Ghita had always held the ocean in a majestic reverent way, but that didn't mean that her young friend would.

At least the beach would be fun to play, on or so she thought. "Yeah, it is, buddy." The words were a little less than optimistic, but her tone remained upbeat and happy. Perhaps, maybe, if she carried him most of the way, they'd be able to make it. But if only there was something faster to carry them. Ghita didn't know of much anything that was faster than a Secui running... except for...

Well, that was a thought. There was only a slim chance of this even working, but still, there was a chance. Ghita considered herself to be a good friend of Anu's, but she didn't think the mother would let her son travel for so long. The Italian mother herself certainly wouldn't let Aro or Sophia venture that far away so early for so long.. But if Ghita could persuade her brother-in-law to lend him Kansas' horse for the day.. perhaps Anu and Alder could ride on the horse down to the ocean, and Ghita could meet them there.

It certainly kept her promise to Alder, but she felt that Anu would want someone to stay around and watch her puppies. Well... Jazper was a good enough nanny for Ghita's pups - he'd have to be coerced into that. "But... I think I have a plan that just might work." She said, teasing her young companion with as little details as possible. "We'll have to ask a couple of people first, though."

maybe we should wrap this up? ^^

With experience Alder would come to realize that their kind had the stamina to run further and longer then he could ever imagine in his puppy days. Miles could be covered in mere hours, territories crossed in less then an afternoon’s time. But now his world was so small that it seemed impossible to simple travel an entire day, and survive. His bulky form was growing tired now, his nap time gaining on him quickly.

Alder blinked heavily, looking up at the pretty woman’s face and wondering what sort of plan she was creating. He knew that an adults mind was far more complex then his own, for Momma knew so much and the masked boy knew that Ghita knew just as much, and her plan was likely something he wouldn’t have been able to follow to completion. But, though he had a little more developing to do he cocked his head curiously. Ears laid against his head so often that it was like he couldn’t make them stand straight and they did so now in with his feeling of unknowing.

Was it a surprise? He wondered, and he grew a bit excited at the thought. The pup thought of his mother, and he so suddenly felt a wash of thick longing come over him. He missed her presence, and though the other fey was a perfect mother figure she wasn’t His Momma and he wanted the pale gray woman to touch his forehead with her nose, and for his face to fall in the soft fur of her tummy. He spoke, his tone high and the desperation for his dam vivid and obvious. Likes Momma? He asked. Alder inhaled deeply, feeling a yawn tickling the corners of his mouth. Yet it was rude to yawn in the face of a friend.

Sure! This'll be my last post. Thanks for the great thread!
Wc: 374

Her scheming mind, for the moment, detracted her attention from her young protege and onto the actual schematics. Would Ghita be able to convince her brother-in-law to lend her his horse after all? Of course, that was the least of her worries - Anu surely would have something to say about their planned journey. But Ghita didn't mind in the slightest - in fact, she understood with a rare clarity. Despite her plans, however, the fae was beginning to fear that she wouldn't be able to keep her promise to Alder, at least in the immediate future. But Anu would understand the pact made between her pup and Ghita, and the fae knew with faith that Anu would make the right decision for her pup.

The fae had been keeping an eye on Alder from the corner of her eye as she thought and padded back towards the manor. Now, once she heard his voice speak up, her attention was quickly diverted back towards him, and she blinked down at him, noticing almost immediately the longing on his face. Twitching her ears down in a sign of failure, she felt as if she hadn't done a good enough job of company for her young companion. However, in her heart of hearts, she knew this feeling was irrational, and nothing would rival Alder's love for his mother.

"Especially your mama, Alder." She spoke up, grinning toothily. It simply wouldn't do for Ghita to sweep in and kidnap Anu's pup for a day to the ocean. In response to his seeming homesickness, the Italian mother felt the need to pick up the pace a little. Alder would be slightly faster than she'd be, with the energy of a young pup and enthusiasm, but Ghita held the upper hand in stamina, despite not being able to use a leg. Turquoise optics beginning to see the Manor not too far off, playfulness sparkled in her eyes. "Do you want to race back to the Manor?" Upon hearing his answer, the fae sped off after him, lingering just slightly so he felt he was winning, all the while guarding him with his life. For there isn't much in this world that's more precious than the lives of the young.
