It was easy to get lost in yourself when you were in her position. She had now been walking for miles aimlessly now, and had lost track of the territory borders a while back. She walked effortlessly, throwing in a front flip occasionally to liven it up. She started to wonder if she would ever meet her dream guy in this weird place. In the next breath she always fell for the wrong type of guy completely every time, and he ended up having more than one screw loose most of the time. She sighed heavily, pondered in thought. She did this often, and it was a habit she was quite contempt with, although sometimes she got angered with herself as it did get in the way of important situations sometimes. Her mind fluttered to her fighting, and almost automatically she started trying out new combos in her path. She tossed herself forward into a triple front flip sequence and added an aerial on the end just to be fancy. Slipping down into crouched cane and low-kicked the invisible foe before smashing him with an upper-cutter followed by a high kick.

A similar number of high speed mostly aerial sequences followed that, Heidi’s body free flowing through them and executing them like a lethal ballet dancer. In previous battles she had used her body against the foe a number of times. She found some males are easily distracted provided she tempted some bait, a wink and saucy grin did it most the time, and before they knew it they would be on the floor KO’d and she would be grinning above them, better luck next time boys. She was also very keen to learn this claws & teeth, very front on combat that most canines use around here, she supposed she would be seen as a different type of fighter to them. Using strange techniques and moves might be of use to her, an advantage to a foe; something they’ve never seen before. Furthermore she knew she was deadly in more ways than one as previous experiences had shown her, she certainly wasn’t shy to make herself shown. Seeing a dark symbolic line on the horizon she ducked conscious she may be very unwelcomed to other territories. As she approached it, she realised it was a protective mechanism rather than a threat. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was there to keep things in as well as out...

it r fine! Smile 300+

The Enagayahe Kanati had started his day out in the stables, taking Iye from his stall and giving him a good brush-down. He hadn't had time to take care of him in this way after their last hunt with Liliana and Grace and he didn't want to let it go any longer than he already had. After the stallion's smokey pelt had been taken care of, the wolf took a hoof pick and dug out any stones or gravel that had managed to wedge themselves into the horse's feet. Thankfully there had been very few and they were now gone. After that he took his friend to get a drink from the nearby stream before taking him back to the stables and his stall. Once Iye was back in place he nosed expectantly at Nayati's shoulder and mane. The man couldn't help but chuckle, producing the apple that was being searched for. "Can't trick you out of a treat, now can I? Well that is fine, brother, for you deserve it." He handed the apple over and it was gone in a matter of moments. Nayati patted his forelock before heading out of the stables.

As he walked back towards the village a thought occurred to the Utina male. While he had taken care to look in on the condition of the hunting spears, he had yet to do so with the bows that the tribe had in stock. He chided himself, this was a severe lapse in his duties, and he quickly made a beeline to where they stored their extra hunting equipment. There were only four extra bows that he could find, but he grabbed a couple quivers of arrows and took them out with him towards the trees at the edge of the territory. Once he arrived at a good spot, he set three of the bows and the quiver down, taking one arrow and nocking it to the first bow's string. A well practiced eye looked down the line of the arrow to the place on the tree that he wished to hit. A strong arm pulled the bowstring back and then after a moment released it. The arrow whizzed through the air and hit exactly where he had wanted it to, right in the middle of the tree. A satisfied grin spread over his face. This bow was a good one.

Nayati was so wrapped up in his task that he didn't notice the unfamiliar scent that was carried over the borders towards him.

A whistling, well not even a whistling sound. It sounded as if the air had just been cut, clearly and cleanly in half by something. Heidi’s dial and head swung clearly round as if a bomb had just gone off. What was that? She had to know. Her eyes scanned the landscape relentlessly, for something, anything, and anyone that might have something to do with that noise. As usual, her curiosity got the better of her, now she was padding stealthily in the direction of the noise. She caught sight of couple of trees, and had a eureka moment. Approaching the tree, she scoped out all the levels of the branches. Her Stature being incredibly small, to reach the first branch she had to run and jump up to the branch clenching her claws deep within the bark, heaving her torso up and over the branch in a circular motion twice before somersaulting upwards to the third level. She squatted along the branch in a crouched position; her arms brushing away the leaves, some of which had already the slightest hint of yellow upon them and poked her long fine muzzle out, her dark mask camouflaged her beautiful emerald eyes, peeking through the leaves.

She spotted an ivory male wolf, tall, strong and masculine with a strange sort of weapon it looked to be in his hand. The wind changed its direction South-west, sweeping a firm and hazy breeze through the plains, and she managed to get a whiff of his scent; which was totally unfamiliar. There was a stick planted into the tree directly in front of him. It must have been that weapon that made that noise. How did it work? What did it do? She was very interested now and bounded out of the tree with a new found confidence. As she approached in the calmest and most relaxed posture possible, she couldn’t help but to cock her head slightly to one side in curiosity, questions written all over her face. She tapped him on the shoulder, his broad muscle-packed back was thrilling to touch; she did love a man with muscle. Her beautiful, questioning eyes waited for him to turn to her What is that? What does it do? she sounded like a little girl again, only her voice was soft and tender. Staring at the stick she desired to know more.

oh psha! that's hardly a wait at all! 300+

After seeing how well the first bow performed, he hoped that all the others were up to this standard. Repairing a spear was much easier than repairing a bow. Unless it was the string that was broken, you usually just had to go and make a whole new bow if the wood broke. The springiness of the wood of the bow was crucial, and if it cracked or broke there really was nothing that could be done to repair it. Nayati had inspected the wood of all the bows briefly and had seen no sign of weakness, but of course you could never be sure that it was in good order until you had to use it. It was important to make sure they were all in good shape before winter hit, for he had an idea to get the tribe together for a large hunt so they could really get a good store of meat going. He didn't know how many of his fellow members would have any desire to use a bow, but if some did, they needed to have ones that worked.

Just as he was about to reach down for another arrow to make sure the consistency of this first bow was up to par, he felt a sudden presence behind him that tapped him on his shoulder. Surprised, the Utina spun quickly around to face the person who had snuck up on him. It was a woman, and both her visage and scent were unfamiliar to him. She didn't carry the smell of the tribe, but he was at the edge of their territory so that wasn't so surprising. Before he had time to ask who she was and what she wanted though, she had her own questions for him. "Uh, this is a bow. It is used for hunting." Of course bows could easily be used for combat as well, but he was a hunter and so that was its main use in his mind. Looking down at her, equally curious, he asked, "Who are you? You do not belong to AniWaya." There wasn't any anger in his tone, for he was still reeling a bit from the surprising circumstances of her appearance.

Intently her eyes goggled up and down the length of the bow twice, before the tall pallid figurine swung round as if she had a fiery touch that burned his skin, her eyes locking immediately onto his strong blue eyes which reminded her of the ocean and aqua, highlighted with what she saw as blue war paint smeared generously across his ivory muzzle. His long locks of mane beaded with turquoise, bluey shaded beads swished around his masculine shoulders as he did so, and she couldn’t help but wonder why he had such an expression upon his face. Her emerald eyes shot to the bow again, but now she had a better view. She had never seen such a contraption, been presented with such a marvel, that could do your hunting for you, as he replied to her. She was always taught hand on, first hand experiences that made her learn from mistakes; she saw this as an amazing tool, immediately wanting to work it out and learn how to master the contraption. But before she could shoot him with an array of questions he quizzed herself.

”I am Heidi… of Inferni, but I mean no harm. In fact im rather interested in that bow of yours, will you show me? a widened grin reached across her muzzle, her curious viridian orbs shimmered between his eyes and the bow, her paws eager to touch its slender wooden frame, a teasing and playful expression lit up upon her face. How was it made, surely it was not a normal aspect of nature; perhaps a big smoothed piece of cut wood with a firm string bending into a graceful arc, It looked beautiful, almost like a work of art. Her eyes fixated on the bow, then the male; it was hard to choose between both. She awaited his answer in return, her pads burning to touch the sleek slender hunting tool.

No worries! I'm moving rather slow myself, these days >.> 300+

The woman had a quizzical expression on her face, and looked him over thoroughly before her eyes returned to gaze intently on the bow in his hands. She looked on it as if something strange and wonderful, so clearly this was her first encounter with a bow. It was odd for the Utina to imagine that, considering he had grown up around them, picking one up as soon as he had had hands to use. There weren't many times that he was without a bow, but he had already learned that many of the canines here did not live as his tribe lived and were unused to such things. Nayati could sense that she was burning with questions, but did manage to answer what he had asked her first.

Now that she had introduced herself, the tension was leaving his body and he was able to relax back into his natural demeanor. "It is nice to meet you Heidi, I am Nayati and this is the AniWaya tribe." He didn't think that he had heard of Inferni, but to his knowledge they had no enemies here and so he saw no reason to be suspicious of Heidi or her intentions. Surely Dawali would have informed him if there were people to be wary of in particular. She grinned widely as she asked if he could show her how to use a bow, and he had to admit he was hardly shy on sharing his expertise in the art. "I see no reason not to," he replied simply. The Kanati handed the bow over to her and moved so she could stand where he had been standing. He waited a moment or two for her to inspect it while he grabbed another bow. "You stand like this, and hold it like this," he said, demonstrating. "Then pull the string back." Once she had mimicked him he would make corrections to her posture.

He relaxed. After she shared her identity authentication, his shoulders loosened as if the tension filtered out of his veins, his stance looked much more natural, he must have thought of her a threat to his home lands. A breeze shimmered through the tall grass, her head turned slightly to catch it, a smell of foreign plants and herbs filling her lungs, aromatic and ambrosial; but she could help notice that familiar smell she missed so much.

Horses. It had been so long since she’d ridden, or even touched an equine since she lost her own, the misery it bestowed upon her. Turning her dial back to Nayati, who had stated his identity to her whilst she was soaking up the flavoursome scents of his lands; she began to take a closer inspection upon his ivory coat. Fine, wispy light coloured hairs were dotted disorderly upon his figure, a remark from an Equus ferus caballus for definite, a question for later, perhaps.

He accepted her offer, and she almost squealed with excitement as he handed her the bow. Grasping the bow with her pads, she eyed up the wood, which appeared of seemingly good quality to her inspecting, curious orbs. Glancing at Nayati, who now had another bow in his possession, and was posing expertly; he gestured Heidi to mimic his posture herself, and she did so.

Eyeing up his leg position she placed them were she saw accurate, stretching the long string back with one arm and pushing the bow forward with her opposite, she pushed her torso out, the woman’s viridian orbs focused on a particularly long sheath of grass stretching above the horizon as her selected target. Her head twisted in Nayati’s direction, looking for some sign of acceptation of her stance “Like this Nayati?” She spoke. She felt it was only right to address him in the name he had given her, it was his lands after all.

Yay bows! 300+

She was a very observant creature, that was for certain. He could see her nose working, taking in the smells of the tribe's lands. He saw a flicker of something in her green eyes, but it was small and passed quickly so he could not identify what it was or meant. Heide looked over his coat and form again and it made the man shift a little uncomfortably. Nayati was not used to being so scrutinized and it made him nearly feel naked in front of the smaller canine. Still, she was nice, which was likely the only thing that kept him in place and willing to show her how a bow worked. It certainly wouldn't be good if he wasn't kind and helpful and she took a bad image of AniWaya back to her home. The very last thing he wanted was to poison any relations between the other tribes and packs established in the area.

Once the bow was handed to her and she observed his stance and pose, Heidi quickly adopted what he had shown her and at this instant her inspection of him was expected and not so awkward as it had been just moments ago. The Utina had to admit he was impressed with how well she had mimicked his form; it wasn't everyone that could take on even the basics so quickly. She looked back to him, asking if she were doing things right, and he nodded in approval. "Yes, just like that." The man bent over and grabbed an arrow, offering it over to her. "This time, do the same thing, but nock the arrow against the string. Then aim at where that arrow is in the tree over there," he said pointing to where he had already shot one arrow. He was quite interested to see if she would be so quick to take to actually shooting off the projectile weapon. Somehow, he had a feeling she would.

Intrigued, the curious one held her position firmly as she awaited acceptance or alteration. She felt so strong, powerful, to be in possession of this marvellous tool. Nayati studied her stance and noted her that what she was positioned as was good. He turned and reached his long pallid arm out; clasping an arrow in his somewhat large ivory hand compared to hers and offered it to the female. A warming expression began to light up the hybrids face as she graciously accepted his offering. The atmosphere had loosened, and she felt like she was an old friend returning to Aniwaya, after a lifetime vacation, she felt welcome.

He then instructed the woman clearly how to shoot an arrow at a target This time, do the same thing, but nock the arrow against the string. Then aim at where that arrow is in the tree over there he informed. Listening carefully to his words, viridian orbs targeted the arrow, taking a moment to savour the details, the sharp pointed edge must be the weapon, and the beautiful feather must serve its purpose to track and display, she thought. Holding the bow next to the arrow she began her attempt. Regaining her position she placed her feet carefully back where they once were, bringing her arms up level against her shoulders.

Almost excitedly the pallid hybrid shifted the arrow onto the bow knocking the feathered end up against the twine, pulling it back slowly until the arrow tip almost breached the pine arch. Her face twitched slightly as the resistance against her pull grew greater, what a peculiar sensation. Her head turned to line directly with the arrow tip, her keen orb sharply glaring down it as her right orb clenched tightly shut. Aiming as precisely as she could, up against the target arrow in the tree, she couldn’t help but compare it against the many hours practice she had undertaken to hit the small target when she was training martial arts. Nervously she released the string; her eyes desperately following the arrows hurtle towards the targeted tree. Eager it hit a radius away from the target, as if it was the dart board. ”Interesting….” she pondered her head cocking sideways she placed her bow upon the earth and leaped forward in zest, her legs carrying her towards her result eagerly. Intrigued, the coy-wolf tilted her head at how the head was now completely gone, did it fall off? Flicking the arrow’s stem it pronounced a twanging noise that faded out into the bark. She mulled it over for a while.

Despite their shaky introduction and first few moments, Nayati noted quickly that Heidi was an excellent student. She was incredibly observant and didn't simply jump into things, but took her time to make sure that she was doing it properly. That was likely one of the keys to her quick success in adapting the position of holding the bow, but clearly the woman had just raw skill as well. Even if she had never handled a bow before, he felt confident that she was no stranger to using tools and utensils. If he had tried to show Ghita how to use the bow and arrow, he doubted the woman would have gotten the hang of it so quickly. The Crimson Dreams wolf had been a very skilled huntress, but not in the same fashion as Nayati himself was.

Heidi focused the same amount of attention and concentration on the arrow when she received it from him. There was curiosity as well as an analytical gleam to her eye as she beheld the slender weapon. She then returned to the stance he had shown her and followed his instructions. His pale gaze watched her closely, taking in every shift, every movement, every muscle twitch. She was graceful in that deadly way that most predators were, and he appreciated this in her. The clan member's form was impeccable, as well as her strength as she held the arrow back. Then finally she released the arrow and the man followed it with his eyes as best he could. It his the tree audibly, and while not incredibly close to the previous arrow, it had hit the tree which was more than most first time triers could claim to.

Quickly she had set the bow down and rushed to inspect her work. She seemed somewhat perplexed and fiddled with the arrow's shaft, making it shake against its purchase in the wood. Nayati slowly walked over and grasped the arrow she had shot close to where it entered the tree and pulled until it came loose, revealing the arrowhead once more. He offered it back to her silently, wishing to see what she wanted to do or say next.
