She was just inside the stables, staring at the horse that she was about to train, he was a headstrong stallion, but she had been able to break him without taking away what meant most to him, and he was such a beauty that she figured she’s pair him up with another horse someday, it was a buckskin quarter horse she’d caught in one of the herds, nearest Aniwaya, he was the perfect candidate to learn what she and Nayati had planned, but she’d gotten here early to clean him up and give him attention because she knew he might not care to go on a training lesson that would probably be taxing on him. She’d already trained him, and all the other horses that weren’t used to work on the fields, the signals of moving faster slower and stopping. She’d yet to do anything more with this one, which is why he made a great candidate.

Nayati would be here soon and as she stoo staring at the beautiful black line on the horses’ back, she couldn’t help but smile at spending yet another day in the presence of the white wolf, either she was just a giddy little pup, or she was feeling something more for him, and thinking about him now just made her heart race more, but she had to take a few deep breaths in hopes he wouldn’t come right that second or she’d be feeling rather hot, and hope that he couldn’t read her mind, or even her body language, it would be rather embarrassing especially when she didn’t know exactly what she was feeling.

She stroked the horses’ nose telling herself that she needed to be concentrating on the horse and not the male who was to be helping her. He would be teaching her his way of training and she could see if she would be able to integrate what he knew with what her mother knew, or change it all together. Right now she could only wonder what the male had in mind.

Sorry for the awful wait on this Shaw ;~; 300+

Somehow the Utina male had slept in later than was his usual custom this day and when his light blue eyes finally opened up he was surprised to see the sun shining full bright. Nayati started up, quickly rubbing the sleep from his eyes. How had he slept so late? Of course this would happen on a day that he had plans and someone was expecting him to be somewhere. This was the day that he and Liliana had chose to train some of the unclaimed horses to be used on hunts. Cursing lightly under his breath he got to his feet and grabbed his bow and quiver, slinging them both of his shoulder and rushing out of his hut towards where the tribe kept its supply of hunting implements. He ducked inside and grabbed the first spear he saw and then began to was briskly to the stables. Part of the training would include getting the animals used to the tools that were used in a hunt.

Thankfully Nayati's legs were long and his large strides brought him quickly from the village proper to the stables that laid just outside. He wasn't even breathing heavy when he walked into the building and saw his friend stroking the nose of the horse he assumed was to be their first trainee. A smile instantly lit his handsome face as he saw the hybrid woman, always happy to be in her presence. "Good day Liliana. I hope I did not keep you waiting long." The distance between them was quickly closed and looked appreciatively at the horse. "This is the fellow we will be working with then?" He looked strong, but strength was only a part of the equation. Still, he knew that Liliana would have chosen him for this because of his temperament and that abilities he had displayed to her thus far.

She finally heard the door open and her friend walk in. her face was in an instant smile, she did feel like she waited forever, but doubted she really did, she shook her head.

Not long at all, I just had to get him ready. Yes, he had no name, and he’s only had the bare minimum training, so he’s perfect for whatever we have in store for him.

He said, she noted the spear in his hands, but didn’t mention it, they were hunting training after all, and her mother used to do the same thing. She pulled the horse out of the stall and started heading toward the pasture on the other side that way they would have plenty of room to practice. She’d have to make a pen just for that, so far she was just using the open pasture… she still wasn’t very good with a hammer so making a fence wasn’t going to be easy.

So what would you do first? My mother makes her … made her horses run at obstacles first.

She explained, she wanted to see how much different that this session would be. she was just excited to bursting, she wanted to know everything right away but she wanted to see it with her own eyes. Why she explained, she wasn’t sure, she just thought it would be interesting to state something out that would be what she’d already learned. Of course this horse would learn the Aniwayan way, she didn’t want him to change anything because she said what she did. She could tell how important the tribe was to him, and traditions were a part of the tribe. She was starting to feel the same way, very dedicated, and close to it, she’d fight to the tooth to protect it.

One of these days I'll stop sucking, I swear -_-; 300+

Her smile was like sunshine to him, and made his own grin grow even wider. It was funny to think back on their first couple encounters and think of the shy, unsure woman he had first met. Her confidence had grown much throughout their friendship and it was clear that she felt more at home here in the tribe now than she ever had before. He knew it must have had a lot to do with finding her Spirit Guide, for one's Guide was a large part of who they were in AniWaya. Nayati couldn't imagine not having Onawa around, so he knew that the hybrid femme must feel so much more at ease now that Ouray had come to her.

Nayati was thankfully she hadn't been waiting for him over long, and listened as she explained why she had chosen this particular horse for their training. "Perfect, I knew you would make a good choice." While he did have some experience in training horses, it was minimal, and he knew that Liliana was much more knowledgeable than he on this line of work. The only horse he worked with here was Iye, so he wouldn't have been able to make an educated choice. She knew all the horses though, and had clearly picked the most promising.

He followed with the spear and bow as she lead their pupil out of the stables and into the pasture that was just outside of the building. Liliana questioned what it was that he would do first, and then spoke on what her mother had taught her to do. Honestly, the specifics and order of horse training was a little vague in his head for he hadn't worked on all that many horses and he had been in the lower ranks of the hunting echelon in the Great Tribe. "I don't remember exactly what we did first, it would change from time to time, but running at obstacles sounds like a good place to start to me," he said brightly. "How would you like to go about it? Should I ride him?"

She felt excited inside, a happiness go through her as he spoke with her and walked with her outside, she had to keep her feelings under control, and work with the horse, not be a giddy filly like she felt. They moved out into the cool fall air, and the pasture had changed a bit from when she started working here, she did have a few hay bails, which where being eaten easily, but that was all she had, that she’d taught Grace her jump commands, there were a few posts, but nothing big enough to be a full on animal, or anything of the sort. She looked up at Nayati as he spoke, he did seem slightly unsure of the training right now, was it because he didn’t want to do it? She hoped she wasn’t making him do something he didn’t want to, that never crossed her mind before.

If you could ride him, that would be nice. We don’t’ have many obsticles here, though the biggest things we have are a few trees I’m afraid.

She said biting her lip trying to make something come up in her mind that would allow them to train. Trees would work, but that’s all they were, she did think of using herself as bait, but she wasn’t going to suggest that until he had his own say. She could tell the young stallion wanted to go out and run himself, he was shaking his head and pawing his foot, she patted his neck, and whispered to him, it calmed him only a little, but that would have to be enough until Nayati go on. She looked at Nayati hoping he had any good ideas, it was too bad they didn’t have real animals… she stopped in her tracks and gave a big smile. Holding her finger up, she handed the reins to the wolf, then hurried back inside. as the pasture was a big penned area, she knew the cows wouldn’t go too far, so she would just have a harder time herding them back into the bard, but that didn’t matter as she’d done it so many times before. She went in and found the cow paddocks and opened them, making a loud noise to get them moving out. The big fat animals moved ut into the pasture at their own leisure, but she was fine with it as she finally returned to Nayati.

Tada! Our obsticles!

She panted with excitement. Hoping that the white wolf would be ok with it, she doubted he wanted to kill a cow, and that he actually would but it was the closes they had to an animal they hunted, though the creatures were dumb and stubborn that’s all the had for now.

yay no suck this time! Big Grin 300+

His uncertainty had nothing to do with not wanting to do this, he just wasn't as knowledgeable about the tribe's training techniques as some. His experience in it was cursory at best, and so he knew that Liliana would have a much better idea of how to proceed than he did. Mostly what he had done was to be on the horse's backs and guiding them while the more experienced hunter and trainers told him what to do to get the horse in shape. Young ones such as himself were much easier to heal if they got bucked off than the elders, so they were the ones to be put to the riskier tasks. Once he actually got up on the horse, he would feel more confident in his abilities. So, he was glad when she agreed to his riding the stallion. However, she did point out a bit of an issue: there weren't really many obstacles around to train against. "Hmmm," he said, pondering what they could do to remedy the situation.

The horse was clearly getting anxious to work and even though Lili did her best to calm him, his energy still ran high. While a willingness to work was good, the more his energy got pent up, the harder he would be to control once the actual training started. They needed to move fast. She looked to him for suggestions, but before a single seed of an idea had come to his mind, a large smile came over her face and she handed him the reins of the horse. Nayati took the lead, and watched curiously as the hybrid woman disappeared back inside. A moment later he heard her making some loud noises and soon enough some cows were making their way out into the pasture. As she returned over to him, panting, he smiled brightly at her. "What a great idea! This will serve perfectly. Plus herding them back will be good training for him as well." Sometimes hunters needed to funnel a herd of running animals in a certain direction, and that's exactly the kind of guidance the cattle would need as well.

"Well, let us start then!" He comfortingly patted the stallion's neck and spoke to him softly before carefully mounting up on his back. The horse moved a little uneasily for a moment, but soon calmed himself. Nayati could feel the energy crackling in the hooved beast's muscles and so nudged his sides to make him move forward, using the reins to direct him in the direction of the nearest cow. As expected, when they drew close, the horse slowed and shied away a bit, but the Utina man firmly directed him to move past the cow in close proximity. It wasn't as close as they could get, but it was certainly a start.

She was proud that she had thought of the idea to use the cows, they may have been fatter than deer or elk but they were also different types of animals than the horses which meant the horse would naturally try to stay away from them. Liliana could only watch as Nayati moved the stallion close to one of the cows, though he shied away like expected she could tell a determination in the horse. Nayati handled him well too, she watched as he moved his muscles and steered the horse towards the cow, she watched as they were mere feet from the cow as they passed by. She moved along in front and slapped a cow into a small trot, baiting the horse a little, since the cow was slow, and it didn’t care much about a little sting it would only go so far, but it would be enough to challenge the horse either to a full out run from or with the cow, what they wanted was the horse to stand its ground unless Nayati told it to move. This would be tricky and Liliana was sure they’d have to do this multiple times.

Whee! Grats on 200! Oh trust me, I'm totally improvising as well. We can be incorrect together XD

Nayati gave the stallion a pat on his neck for doing as good a job as could be expected for a first try. Things were hardly at a stand-still though, as Liliana got one of the cows moving around. The horse's ears perked forward and he issued a snort. Nayati gave him the reins and and he ran towards the animal to try and outdistance it. As the neared the moving bovine, once again he tugged on the reins to keep the horse closer to the other animal than it was naturally wont to be. It still fought him a little, but the stallion seemed to be realizing that the Utina was in charge here. The horse was determined to pass the cow, and Nayati let it, but once they were ahead he pulled on the reins to bring the horse circling in front of the cow to halt it. The other hooved animal gave an indignant moo as its path was cut off. "How does he look from your perspective so far?" There was only so much he could tell from horseback. It was incredibly early in the training, but so far he was pleased with this horse's capabilities.

She watched as he moved the horse to the walking cow. She could tell the nervousness of the stallion, but he was determined to please the rider, a great sign in Liliana’s eyes. She smiled to herself as Nayati pulled the horse in front of the cow, he did stand his ground, it was going great so far. She’d been moving with them, though slowly so that she wouldn’t catch the horses attention. She was just in the background today, another day she would be on horseback next to him, another lesson though this was to get the horse use to running at the animals they were hunting.

Looking good so far, now lets try to bring him by on the other side,

She said, as she moved to another cow and gave her a good hit, making her move in the same leisure pace as the first cow, darn animals, if only they had sheep or something that would spook easy.

Today he had taken the role of being the rider, but hoped to soon see how Liliana handled herself when training upon the horse. He couldn't help the slightly protective feeling that rose up in him at the thought of her being placed in the more dangerous situation. It was in his nature to protect those he cared about and he had no issues placing himself in harm's way to keep another from it. The Kanati squashed that feeling as best as he could though; Liliana was the true trainer here, she knew what she was doing better than he. She knew the risks, and took them willingly. It was not his place to try and protect her in this.

He was glad to hear that things were looking good from her perspective on the ground as well. That was all that was said before she got another cow moving, this time in a different direction: towards him and the horse. For a moment Nayati thought the stallion might falter, even though the cows were hardly intimidating, but this beast had spirit. He snorted and pawed the ground, turning to face the other herbivore. Grinning, Nayati urged him on straight at the cow and passed close to the side once again, this time closer and with less effort from him. Once past the cow, he patted the horse's neck, transmitting his approval.

Liliana was pleased with the training, the horse was just surpassing the whole obstacles with flying colors. It was amazing how well he’d taken to everything, it made her excited for more.

They continued the training for the horse for a while, making sure he would actually come so close it made the cows nervous, though it was still a work in progress, she enjoyed the time the two were spending ith each other. Liliana felt that this day was a good learning experience and a nice bonding moment between friends, though saying that aloud was not something she’d say right now at least. Their day had been over all a great success.
