All welcome AniWaya pack hunt! Your character is welcome to hunt on horseback or not and also with or without a weapon. All up to you! Big Grin 300+

The other day, when Nayati had been doing some tracking just outside the territory he had caught sight of a large herd of elk moving towards the tribe's lands. The hunter had eyed them hungrily, but he knew that he could only manage to take down one of the beasts on his own, and that was if he were lucky. What would be better was if he could get some of the tribe together to go on a large hunt. Then perhaps they could take down more than one of the elk and be well supplied on food for a good while. Letting his presence go unnoticed by the large herd, he had stealthily made his way back to AniWaya and began to make preparations. He had Liliana had been working on training some horses for the purpose of hunting and this would be the perfect opportunity to give them some real field experience if any of the members wanted to make use of them.

The next morning Nayati worked on gathering up all of the extra hunting equipment and depositing it outside of the stables. The Enagayahe Kanati had no idea whether or not anyone would choose to use a bow or spear, or even the horses, but it was better to have it all in one place if anyone did wish to use it. Either way though, the Utina wasn't worried. Hunting with Ghita from Crimson Dreams shortly after his arrival had shown him that his style of hunting and the more natural way could be easily combined if the strategy was thought over. No matter what way the other AniWayans wished to participate, they would work something out.

When he had everything at the stables in order he brought Iye out of his stall and brought him to stand outside. "Are you ready for a group hunt brother?" The dapple grey stallion tossed his head and whinnied. It was one thing neither of them had gotten to do since coming to this tribe, and they both missed the rush of going on a large hunt with the other tribesmembers. Patting his esteemed colleague on the neck, Nayati tilted his head back and let out a howl calling the tribe together for a hunt. The call was short and to the point, and now all there was to do was wait for the tribe to arrive, if they so chose.

YAY! Pack Hunt! XD Fun-timey-time! XD And for reference; no, Ralla cannot see Onawa, but she can sense her, in a way. Minor, minor, minor Tongue Also, it may not necessarily be the Spirit Guide, but the energy from the wolf :3

The sun had risen, and with it the howl of a pack member. Ralla's ears perked at the summons, and her heart jumped. The howl was so familiar to her; it had no words, but it conveyed its exact meaning. A hunt! Only once or twice had Ralla been in a pack hunt, and even then she had not participated; only observed. Her sole experience lied with her solo-hunts, and although her confidence was fueled only by her speed, the sheer want to be a part of the tribe--in all senses--pulled at her. More frequently she was feeling these wants, and it was the most she'd been selfish since she left the Moon Tribe. I want to...! Her innate wolf instincts urged her to the hunt with the moon in full swing, and it was not far into the morning at all before she was speeding towards the origin of the howl.

Sugar--her previous travel companion and now work partner--was her first priority. Luckily the howl had seemed to come from the stables where Sugar was boarded, so it made it all the easier. Ralla had no weapons that would be useful, she thought, to the others. She could only hope that she wouldn't be a burden to them. Coming upon the stables, she spotted the summoner talking to his own steed, although she had only seen the wolf in passing. His appearance emanated 'hunter' with the way he was built and laden with his bow and arrows, and his eyes spoke of seriousness; a touch of excitement flickered in the blue irises, but Ralla could tell that he was higher in rank than her, so she prostrated herself immediatly and looked away.

"Greetings. My name is Ralla, the Gata Hineyu. I heard the call and would love to join you." While saying this, in order to keep from grinning like an idiot or letting her posture overstep her rank, Ralla went to the edge of the pasture fence and howled a short tune that she had taught to Sugar. It was short and precise in a staccato measure, and the brown thoroughbred whinnied as he trotted to the fence to greet her. Their journey had been short in days, but their bond had strengthened from Ralla's use of him for every day she went to collect firewood and deliver it around the village. The brown stallion had been strong for her, and while she trusted his speed irrevocably, she thought his strength more pertinant in that he could carry whatever game they returned with.

"I have to warn you; my strength is not as great as many other warriors, but I would be honored if you let me participate. I'm fast and can keep pace with whatever we are hunting; perhaps slow it down." Keeping her eyes averted did nothing to stop Ralla's sixth sense. Like the first day of seeing Chief Dawali, or the first time meeting Aithne, or meeting Kemo...there was the familiarity and force. The air around the hunter shimmered when she glanced from the corner of her eye, but she twitched them away again out of politeness. She would not act otherwise to a higher ranking wolf unless he permitted it so. But she wondered what it was about her Chief and this hunter that made her senses pull in every which way direction.

WC:372(2 Points) OOC: YAY HUNTING!!

Liliana’s heart rose to her throat. She heard a voice calling, one very familiar, it was a call of the hunt, and it was Nayati’s handsome voice who sang it. It was short, but it rang in her ears as she raced Grace towards the stables. Her ears were forward, how exciting, and this time she could actually help make the kill too! As she made her way to the stables, she could tell that someone was there, and it was a somewhat familiar scent, it was of the wolf who’d woken her in the middle of the night, the one she gave Sugar to. she frowned slightly feeling put off she wasn’t the first to arrive, and her throat tightened when she saw Ralla near Nayati… what was wrong with her, it wasn’t like she’d seen him with another female anyway was it, and he was a free wolf. She took a few deep breaths before she urged Grace to a slow walk, she had a smile on her face and stared at Nayati.

As I promised, I’d be at this hunt, and prepared.

She said, then looked at Ralla and nodded, not in an angry way, one of normal greeting, she wasn’t one to be angry for long, especially for no reason at all. Was she angry? Why should she be though? The wolf was here to hunt just as she was. She got off Grace and went to find a good spear. She’d been practicing with one every once in a while, but she didn’t have one of her own yet. She thought of employing someone to make her one, she wasn’t sure who though, she did know Arda had been a crafter, but she didn’t know where he’d gone, she did miss the old wolf he had so muchto talk about. She found the right one and then pulled herself back up on Grace’s bare back. She’d been training the horse to hunt so she wouldn’t make the mare jealous if she got on another one, but she was always on horses all the time, and she didn’t think about that, she’d just feel bad if she didn’t use her own capable companion for such a thrilling chase.

Hunting time <3

A familiar howl rang in his ears as Moonfyre just began to come out of a deep sleep. He lifted his head from his paws and yawned big and wide. Then he rose and stretched as he padded toward the entrance of his hut. His head pushed aside the flap over the door and he looked around noticing a few female members getting their horses ready at the stables. He didn’t have a horse and didn’t need one. He didn’t want a horse either because he would never ride his. His wolf pride was too strong and he spent as little time in luperci form as well. He was on all fours today and the obsidian warrior continued out of his hut.

As he reached a clearer part of the village he began to run toward the sound Nayati’s voice. Running right after he awoke from sleep was quite refreshing; especially for him. He ran like a happy and hyper puppy down the rolling grass hills of Aniwaya. The air was clear and smelled of fresh rain. Did it rain? He slowed down and looked around. The world around him didn’t look wet. He shook his head and slowed to a trot until he reached Nayati.

Hello Nayati. It’s a lovely day you picked for a pack hunt.

Moonfyre was naked. He hadn’t picked any weapons and hadn’t shifted to his luperci form. He hoped to hunt in his true form, a wolf. He had recently begun training as a warrior and hoped maybe this pack hunt would help him get in shape. He was capable of being quite destructive when he was needed to be. He reclined to his haunches little ways away from the alpha and kept his ears forward and open to further instruction.

If anyone else wishes to hop before I reply again, please feel free! We will also stick to this posting order Smile 300+

It didn't take long for his howl to attract attention and bring people to his position at the stables. The first to arrive was a woman he hadn't seen before, clearly a new member of the tribe for the scent was upon her. She looked at him for a moment before averting her gaze. For a second he wondered if he had somehow intimidated her, but as she introduced herself it seemed that it was merely a gesture of respect. "Hello Ralla, it is a pleasure. I am Nayati Utina, the Enagayahe Kanati, and the more to come along the better." The more members that came on the hunt, the larger chance they had of bringing back more food that would be sorely needed once the winter moons were upon them. Fall was a time of preparation, and one of the greatest preparations was to make certain they had enough food to last them through the cold season. As a hunter, it was his busiest time of the year. Ralla made an odd call, and a horse trotted out from the stables to meet her. "I am sure that we will be able to find something for you to do to help. It is not all about strength."

The next to eagerly arrive was Liliana upon her mare Grace, and when she rode up Nayati flashed her a bright smile. He had doubted that she would miss this opportunity, but it was heartened to see her here so quickly. "I am glad to see you keep your promise." The hybrid woman got down from her horse and picked out her spear before remounting. He knew that she had been working on hunting training with Grace, and was eager to see how the pair worked together on this hunt. They hadn't been able to really participate much in the last hunt, but he was sure they would be of a great help today. Next to come up was Moonfyre, as usual in his four legged form. "Greetings Moonfyre, yes it is a good day." He would have called the hunt regardless of the weather, but it was nice to have a good day to partake in the venture.

With the three fellow member arrive, he decided to mount up as well and easily placed himself upon Iye's back. "Yesterday I was tracking and found a large herd of elk that should be within our territory now. As you all know, winter will soon be upon us and we must have enough food to see us through. Our goal is to bring down as many as we can to bring back to the village. If any wishes a weapon or trained horse, they are welcome to them. We will leave as soon as everyone is prepared."

I'm gonna treat this as if Ralla and Moonfyre already met at the 'Everland' thread. Reply whenever you have time; no rush Tongue

Ralla had been excited to see two familiar faces answer the call as she had, and even more heartened to hear that she may yet be useful. Liliana had come directly after her, riding on her own mare, and Ralla returned the polite nod that the hybrid gave her. Ralla took it that shy-indifference was part of Liliana's personality, but when she looked from Nayati to Liliana...an all-knowing smile of her own inched up Ralla's jaws, and she quickly ducked her chin to hide it. Instead, she turned her gaze to the next newcomer, Moonfyre, that made Ralla take on another full smile. Just a few days ago they had been in the beautiful Adagio Caves, and now she was comforted to know that she was surrounded by wolves she knew. Nayati's voice cut through her sentiments, and she turned to listen as Moonfyre was already at attention and Liliana far past remounting the mare.

We will leave as soon as everyone is prepared." The prospect of such a large target of prey set Ralla's natural instincts a-flurry. Peaceful by nature, nothing could ever win out against the ancient blood that flowed through her veins. Ralla had no weapon--of suitable purpose--other than her teeth and claws, which she hoped would be sufficiant. She trusted Sugar to follow the other horses faithfully as if he were still in a herd, and if not, to respond to her call. Quite to her own amusement, she wondered if she should paint Sugar the way that the other horses in her old tribe were and the way that the horses here sometimes seemed to be. How noble; Sugar, the hunting horse. She laughed quietly to herself as she swung herself over the paddock fence and onto Sugar bareback. To Ralla, his mane was sufficiant. Sugar was a smooth ride that could carry much weight for long distances, and he already knew her signals. Ralla was lucky that she had caught on so quick to the art of horseback riding; she didn't want to tire before the hunt even began. Sugar tossed his head once and stepped in a small dance when Ralla suddenly jumped on, and it took a second to calm him from her intrusion. Alright, not all my cues...

OOC: eh post ; ;

Liliana spotted the other wolf that had woken her in the middle of the night… well it seemed like a pattern here now, well she wasn’t holding a few sleepless nights against either one of them, she smiled slightly at Moonfyre and turned her attention to Nayati when he spoke. Elk! It had been a while since she’d been in a hunt like this, it was exciting, and she felt her heart beat faster, as she thought of snagging one or two elk. She raised her spear, showing she was ready and eager to start the hunt, she wasn’t as skilled as she wanted to be, but she had no doubts that she’d be there till the last elk was downed. In any case she’d help with the kills if she could, she’d just follow Nayati’s lead, knowing full well how he went for a herd as she’d been there on one of his hunts.

I’m ready when you are!

She said, excitement shivering through her body, her feelings seemed to coarse through Grace as she was fidgeting herself, the horse couldn’t stand still for one second, and she was waiting for Lilianas’ signal to move.

Short post, will write more when the thread progresses Smile

Everyone had their spears and horses ready, Moonfyre had his fangs and legs ready. He didn’t care for weapons when it came to the natural act of hunting. He liked to do it the wolf way since he doesn’t hunt seriously like this much. He enjoys himself, though, when he does attend a pack hunt. He saw Liliana smile at him and smiled back and nodded toward her as in a “Hello.”

He sat quietly on his haunches and listened for Nayati’s instructions. Without instructions he would go crazy, but not causing them to lose their prey. He looked around and noticed Ralla and winked at her with a wolf smile on his face. She was pretty and he caught her scent in the wind the other morning. He wondered who she was until now. Now he wanted to know her.

I'd like to join too, though I am a bit late :3

She was just returning from another trip to Phoenix Valley when the call reached her ears. Ember was entering the side of the territory that was fairly far away from the group and knew that, at the very least, she would be late to the gathering. Such a thing could not be helped, however, and she did not urge Bayard to go any faster than he was able to. Her horse had always been a big help to her when it came to transportation, and she wouldn't push him and risk his health just so that she could join in a tribal activity. However, the horse seemed to understand that she wanted to join in if she could, and took a pace that was slightly faster than normal.

The dark wolf approached the group and dismounted, trying not to attract attention to herself. She had put her cloak on the day before, when she had first left for the valley pack, and wore it still due to the cold weather that was beginning to take a hold on the tribelands. Beneath that she had her regular slew of weapons on her weapons belt; an axe, her sword, and a dagger. She normally used these to hunt, her axe being her weapon of choice for such a matter.

She wasn't sure where to stand to listen and settled for the back, behind the others. Elk? She hadn't hunted elk for a very long time. She would have to be careful so as not to get her and Bayard hurt; they were very large and dangerous creatures, elk. Ember listened for instructions on where the group would go next, patting her appaloosa's side absently as she watched Nayati. There were a few other tribemembers that she knew, like Liliana, and she lived with Moonfyre. She kept an eye on them as well before turning her pale gaze back to the leader of the hunt.

No worries James! Let's get this hunt started! Big Grin 300+

As he started to talk of their quarry, everyone listened to him attentively and someone new even joined the group. He recognized Ember and greeted her silently with his eyes, though not faltering in his speech for a moment. Once he finished speaking, Ralla jumped onto her horse and everyone, including the equines, looked excited and ready to go. There would be no more directions to give until they reached the herd and he got a look at where they were and how they were arranged. "Let us go then. If anyone needs to speak, speak quietly or use gestures if you can. We want to make sure not to alert them to our presence." It was something that they should all know instinctively, but he always felt better if it were said explicitly. Nuding Iye's sides with his heels, he lead the hunting party in the direction he assumed that the elk would be.

The group rode for a good distance at a slow pace, there was no need to tire the horses before the real work began. They had ridden a little ways past Grandfather's Tears when Nayati caught the scent of elk and lifted his hand up, signally a stop. Silently as he could, he slid from Iye's back and, crouching low to the ground, crept forward so that he could see the herd's position. Thankfully the hunting party was upwind of the beasts, and he stayed behind some brush cover to observe them. It wasn't as big a herd as they sometimes got, about sixteen animals. One buck, thirteen cows, and two adolescents. They were peacefully grazing and making their way west.

Sneaking back, Nayati walked to the center of the group so all could hear his quieted voice. "It is a herd of sixteen, one large buck. We should be able to get the horses close without them taking much notice. Moonfyre, you sneak ahead and get them running and then the rest of us will charge behind. Look for animals that are not able to keep up with the herd, sick or injured. We should focus on two, no more than three of them." One they could easily take down, two should be doable, but three would be stretching it with a party this size. Once he knew everyone understood their role, he remounted and nodded at Moonfyre, leading the rest of them to the edge of the clearing.

OOC here!

Liliana was quiet the whole time. She listened and followed, she was not in the mood to speak and she had no questions, she was in the mood for hunting and she could tell the whole party was the same way, she moved Grace with the party as they headed out, she paid little attention to the area until Nayati stopped them. She looked around the surrounding area taking it all in, until Nayati came back and explained the predicament. She nodded, tightening her grip on her spear, this was it, she breathed, getting herself ready and waiting for Moonfyre to head out and start chasing the deer.

The group of wolves stopped at an area where the smell of elk was strong and lingering. Moonfyre’s mouth salivated, and he stood tall listening to the directions. Nayati nodded towards him to begin the hunt. He nodded, and with pride prowled in the direction to go around the herd. His scent would still be downwind no matter what area he was in. The elk were facing the area where the wind was blowing at them.

His muscles rippled through his midnight fur as he crouched low to the ground. He silently prowled trough the tall grasses around the meadow. He would not be seen. He made no noise and so he would not be heard either. He crawled toward the other side of the elk still hidden so they wouldn’t see him. This was the ideal spot he would chase them. If they ran straight they would be running toward Nayati and the others. Moonfyre took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. You got this. Then he burst out of the grasses and ran straight toward the elk. It was almost like a delayed reaction because he was almost there before they began running. When they ran, though, they were fast and easily lost him in their dust.

Moonfyre pushed himself herded and caught up with the elk. The stronger elk were leading the pack and were the faster ones, but he wasn’t looking at them. The normal average elk were in the middle, and still too strong to take down. Then there were the stragglers. The stragglers were the sick and weak elk that were slow and couldn’t catch up with the rest of the herd. There were three of them running together, and Moonfyre easily broke them away from the frantic herd. Now they were running toward Nayati with him biting at their heels.

She followed behind the others in the group, getting back up onto Bayard. The horse couldn't understand what the leader of the hunt was saying, but Ember whispered a translation to him beneath her breath. She had been able to speak to the lower beasts for over a year, now, and often spoke with her steed. He nodded when she was finished explaining the hunting plan to him and the two followed the others closely.

She wished to hunt atop her trusty horse, and when the elk came flying toward them she turned to quickly follow. Her eyes sought out any discrepancy amongst the gait of the large creatures, and fixed upon the form of an older female with a limp. She started after the elk as it split away from the group, slowing slightly as it did, her sword out and ready. Ember then looked to the side to see if there was anyone else nearby to help her take it down.

Everyone was ready, and as Moonfyre left the group to start the herd moving an electrifying feeling settled over the hunting party. It was moments like this that the Enagayahe Kanati lived for. The moments that he had spent the great majority of his life becoming perfect at. Hunting was an art form, just like any other, it just happened that this art was essential to life. Without food, none of them could live. Nayati had devoted his life to keeping his tribe alive and healthy, providing as much food as he could manage. He was now the sole skilled hunter in the pack and with winter approaching, they all needed this hunt to be successful. He trusted his fellow tribemembers though. Working together, they could do this.

Alarmed bugles and running hooves filled the air, signaling that Moonfyre had made his appearance. Within a moment or two, three straggling elk had been cut off from the rest of the herd and was being driven towards them. Nayati didn't even have to give Iye any signals for the stallion knew what to do as innately as the wolf did. They took off towards the trio of prey animals and he quickly knocked an arrow, his eyes waiting to choose his target. He saw Ember go after one, but he wanted to make sure they brought down at least two. He noticed one of the cows was having more labored breathing than the others. Nayati and Iye rode past the elk as he released his arrow, striking it deep in the neck.

I'm back Tongue

The need for silence was almost unbearable. The talent of patience and need for it had been hammered into Ralla since birth, but this--this adrennaline, this feeling--it called to her blood and made it boil. She watched the subtle signals that those of her hunting group--something that she had never before been a part of--followed Nayati's lead. Her ears pricked forward as she straightened her back upon Sugar to try and see Moonfyre's pursuit. She almost wanted to just hop off of Sugar and join him in the chase, but that would undoubtedly confuse the elk should she fail to sync with Moonfyre's direction.

Soon, the large prizes were heading straight to them. The sounds of the pounding were hard and fast as the drums of war as the dust clouds swirled like an exotic dance, kicked from the legs of the sustaining life that they would fall upon. Nayati immediatly drew his bow to begin his hunt, but Ralla instead caught the brown wolf going after a limping female; large, injured, and practically begging for their pack to take it as their own.

Saving Sugar's energy to help cart their success back to the camp, Ralla vaulted from his back and landed on all fours in her lithe optime form. Normally, this would've been awkward for some bipedal wolves. But the sometimes-awkward and unweildly limbs that made Ralla look strange then became her asset as her speed and strength were doubled that of her lupine form. Her head was low to the ground as she circled wide from behind the group--careful not to be trampled by those sharp hooves--attempting to cut the female off. Its limp made it an easy target to herd and cut off from escape, and Ralla put on her best threatening face as she growled and snapped at the neck of the female. She did not trust her strength to bring it down--no, that would be the brown wolf's duty and honor--only, she would keep it from escape.

Never had she had need to look threatening to catch her prey. Always on her lone hunts she would catch a rabbit or bird unawares. But now; now she was moving in unison with her pack for a common goal. She awaited the move of her packmate as she matched the dance of their prey, captivating it whilst snapping at weak legs and a vulnerable neck.

Liliana Squirmed as she watched Moonfyre move past the herd, she was envious of him. She was made for herding and to see someone else do it made her want to do it better, but she kept her ground, though her own tension made Grace slightly nervous. She kept her in check though and everything happened all at once. She saw the elk coming, and she held her spear in position. Nayati had warned them that they really only needed two, though three were coming their way. But as they came he did mention no more than three, so she targeted the Elk that had not been hit. Then she saw Ember at the corner of her eye and changed targets, she charged the elderly elk and thrust the spear at her, catching the Doe in the shoulder, though it wasn’t fatal, it would give Ember the quick motion she needed for her sword as the Elk would be defending itself from Liliana.

Moonfyre fell back as the others came toward the herd with their weapons. The male kept running behind, but not so close anymore. He despised the others’ humanized hunting tactics, but also admired that they used human objects so well. The spears and such were probably made by the luperci themselves, but they were originally human tools. Liliana speared one of the older elks, and threw it with such grace. She managed to hit the elk in the shoulder which would certainly slow it down a bit.

He looked around trying to find his way into the fray without getting kicked. He saw an opening with another older elk, and took his opportunity by the horns almost literally. He quickened his run, and ran behind it and managed to jump onto its back. He bit into the back of the elk’s neck and snarled as he hung on. He tugged at her hide knowing that this would not bring it down, but at least it might help. The elk was bleeding quite badly from her neck. Moonfyre could taste the blood dripping into his mouth. He continued to tear at its hide and not planning to jump off the animal.

Ember had the help of two of her packmates, and that was what brought the animal down. Ralla kept it confused, and the creature bucked as it realized that its escape was cut off. Liliana dealt it a harsh strike with her spear which seemed to numb the animal for a moment. It seemed stiff with the pain of the injury that it had just endured. She reached to the side off of Bayard, her horse slowing as the creature did, using her blade to slice through the weakened animal's windpipe.

Blood sprayed out before the beast as it sputtered to a stop, gasping, and Ember looked back at the others to be sure that they could handle the animal before she turned her horse around, going to help Nayati. She hadn't seen anyone else go to assist him yet. Bayard galloped ahead of the wayward elk that Nayati chased, the smart horse aiming to cut it off and give him a better chance at bringing it down.

The cow he had struck let out a scream of pain as they galloped past and as quickly as they could turned themselves back around to pursue it. Vaguely he knew that Ralla and Lili were assisting Ember with one elk while Moonfyre went after the last one on his own. The Kanati hoped that the other man would be careful, it was dangerous to go after one of the animals on one's own in their feral form, but the dark male was an adult and knew how to handle himself. It wasn't his job to babysit the others on the hunt, only to help lead them.

The elk, despite her labored breathing and the arrow sticking out of her neck, had still made some good distance on them and Iye labored to catch up. Some unexpected help arrived as Ember and her horse cut off the cow's path. She balked, stunned at the sudden intrusion, and Nayati took his window of opportunity. The man drew his hunting knife and came upon the cow quickly, cutting across her throat and opening that most vital of arteries. He felt the spray of blood and soon the elk had crumpled to the ground, her lifeblood staining the ground.

Nayati's pale gaze looked around to see Moonfyre doggedly hanging onto the last elk by the neck as it tried its best to shake the predator off. The Kanati drew another arrow and sighted it quickly. It released with an audible whoosh and struck the lower half of one of the last cow's legs, hoping to help Moonfyre drop it to the forest floor.

The elk that Ralla had been harrying dropped to the green grass, staining it red. She was exhilerated by teh rush of power she felt--a strength that had never been hers to hold--as the world around her spun, urging her to keep in motion constantly without pause. Her forest green eyes--pupils slit with the rising of her feral instincts--caught sight of the white streak of fur that was Moonfyre as he jumped and took hold of yet another elk's throat. Her blood urged her forward, but her mind kept her where she stood over the carcass of the cow elk.

The others of their hunting party were stronger--more experienced--than Ralla. Their prowess was greater, and she felt that constant nagging that she would only get in their way. She stood--some blood from the elk marring her white fur--as she howled her special howl for Sugar to come from his place in the trees. The quarter unicorn galloped down the slope to meet her as she motioned for him to guard their kill with her against scavengers while she watched the events play out.

She was in awe of their quarry that she had the honor to be a part of. Everyone moved in sync as their bounty fell, and Moonfyre's endeavor was not without its own symphony. Nayati's arrow struck the elk in the leg, and Ralla felt her feet stagger forward once with the ache to aid them. But she corrected herself soon enough. Rushing in now would disturb their harmony and maybe even injure Moonfyre, whose body was dangerously close to the kicking and rearing hooves of the elk. She would only have to wait until their hunt was done so that one of her packmates could help her lift the large beast onto Sugar's back to curry back to the camp, the beast much too heavy for Ralla alone.

Their success made Ralla sure that much rejoycing would abound that night.
