It had been a mighty long time since he'd laid eyes on his son. Still, Cassius' scent was not something he'd forgotten. Amos recognized it, albeit faintly. This place he'd come across, Nova Scotia, raised his hopes. Ever since Less died, Amos had thought it would be nice to have Cassius back in his life, to have a family once again. It hadn't been easy tracking his coyote son across a continent, and now he was standing on the doorstep of a place that held his son's scent.

It was gratifying. A deep sense of accomplishment filled the old wolf. When the scent trail lead him to the edge of pack's territory, Amos paused. So, his son had found himself a pack. Why, the old coyote was proud! It was good to know that Cassius had found a place for himself in the world.

"Ah'll reckon he'll be rightly surprahzed." Hummed Amos to himself, grinning. Taking a moment to himself, one paw went up and removed his cowboy hat. Peacefully, he held the hat against his chest, and let a hearty laugh. What a journey he'd taken- continents weren't easy to cross.

Tilting his head back, the coyote let out a thick call. Returning his hat back to his head, Amos placed his paws onto his hips, and waited.

OH WHY HELLO Big Grin

There was a quickness to the scarred woman's step that had been absent for many weeks now; it would seem some of her youthful strength had returned. Perhaps she had been energized by Clover's smoking implements; the silvery hybrid did not put it past such a substance to work miracles. Sometimes the things she saw in her head alone were quite nearly miraculous. The plaguing arthritic feeling had faded from her joints, chased away by tendrils of thick smoke. The hybrid woman had not known she could feel quite like this anymore.

The call at the borders had not escaped her notice; she had been keeping closer to the borders lately, anticipating the usual flood of fresh faces within the coyote clan—Clover's arrival had, to Kaena, signified an end to the dry times. She knew quite well that the coyote clan's joiners tended to come in tides—there were none to few during periods of low tide, and there were almost too many during periods of high tide. The clan's recent thirty-strong membership had proven his quite well to her; not three months after boasting a head count of thirty-two, they had been halved. Wartime and the usual deserter problems had reduced their numbers to normalcy quite quickly. There had been no periods in which the hybrid found their membership dangerously low, however; whether or not they had new faces, the core of the clan was always there.

As the hybrid continued along, the stranger's scent entered her nose; she tracked after it absently, meandering through the forest with hurry in her step. She found the newcomer after several minutes. He was in Optime form, some sort of thing clutched to his chest—the one-eyed hybrid did not recognize it as a hat until she was quite close. One yellow-golden eye peered toward this newcomer, sizing him up. He did not look very much like Cassius; of course, the scarred canine could not have known she was peering at the Arphralos patriarch. “Can I help you?” she said, her tone one of practiced indifference.

OOC: CASS NEEDS TO SEE HIS PA :| My post sucks but I needed to get it done period.

At once when the howl was heard, Cassius was out the door running, even with his recent injuries. He recognized it at once, even with so much time passing since the last he saw his dad. He missed his family dearly, and he wished for days for their arrival. Now that his wishes came true, Cass' recovery time would no doubtly quicken. Any support or source of hope did wonders for anyone, especially for someone who needed it badly. Cass was one of those who needed it badly.

Someone else had arrived before him, Kaena - as expected. The Centurion was a good leader, prompt and to the point. Beside her was the figure of his father. His dearest dad... but only his dad. Bursting at the seams with questions, Cassius hurried his injured body towards the two. He slowed before his dad, not even slightly believing his eyes. He was speechless, to say the least. No words could form in his mouth that described the moment. He ignored Kaena, focused only on the patriarch. "...Pa..." he said softly, barely making out the word.

Without any more warning his body shifted towards his father's, trying to embrace him with a hug, but his arm was too badly damaged to even lift it. He staggered, grunting with pain as he skedaddled into Amos with tears in his eyes. His broken arm was shifted away from them and Cass' good arm was wrapped around Amos' side. No more words came out, but tears streamed like rivers from his bright purple eyes.

HELLO. Big Grin
[html]

The first one to find him was an old female, her face decorated with scars. Politely, Amos grabbed the edge of his hat and briefly dipped it forward - a common southern sign of respect. "Yes ma'am," Replied the coyote amiably, "Ah'm 'ere lookin' fo' my son. Could yah kindly tell me if thah's a whippah snappah by the name o' Cassius 'round these parts?"

Another wolf appeared. The old wolf's eyes turned away from the female, and he found himself looking at his son. His son, whom he hadn't seen in so very, very long. Emotions overwhelmed Amos, as he watched Cassius run towards him. A cat might as well of had the old wolf's tongue, as he said nothing, only watched as his bandaged son reached them.

Bandges? They were all over Cassius' arm. It occurred to Amos that perhaps he had come at just the right time. It looked like Cassius could use his father.

Those worries were but blips on Amos' emotional radar. His being was consumed with joy, as his son stumbled into his arms. Finally, he found his choice. Easy laughter spilled out of him, and Amos greeted cheerfully, "Howdy partner, 'ow's my fav'rite son?" Carefully, he wrapped his arms around the younger wolf, making sure not to grab the bandaged arm. It felt good to have his son back in his arms. Family. Family was the meaning of life, was it not?

That's what Amos believed. That's why he was grinning and his tail was wagging, as he hugged his boy.

431. You guys can keep going! Big Grin We can OOCly assume later either Cass or Amos found Kae to actually tell her about Amos's skills. XD She is just awkwardpants. ;3

There was little harshness left in the old woman. She was an austere presence, certainly, but much of her youthful vigor and rage had faded with the long years. Instead, it had been replaced with an overwhelming coldness—Kaena Lykoi did not care one single ounce for all the rest of the world save her family, her clan, and those rare few outside of it who made a lasting impression. Impulse and anger no longer drove her to rip flesh from bone, but this was not to say she befriended every wolf she now came across—they were still, of course, regarded as the enemy, but now the hybrid did not seek to destroy them so readily. Perhaps this was self-preservation in action; certainly, bodily aging did not escape the old hybrid's notice, and she surely realized her own diminished strength.

It would seem this canine was in a similar predicament; there was a gentle elderliness about him, a quiet reservedness the hybrid woman immediately picked up on. His speech was slow, laced with a saccharine drawl she could not possibly have placed. “Yes, in fact,” she answered, surprised at the familial connection between this old-timer and the mottled brown coyote who currently occupied the Aedile's position. Before she could add more, however, Cassius himself emerged and made his way immediately toward his father, embracing the older man with a gleaming wetness in his violet eyes. The silvery hybrid did not comment; she could hardly sneer at this display of affection considering the ones she tried to carve between herself and her own family.

The pair seemed wrapped into one another, and the coyote realized she might be audience to a much-needed reunion after lengthy absences in each others' lives. Remaining quiet a few moments longer, the hybrid eventually cleared her throat, stepping forward to make herself known. “I don't mean to interrupt,” she offered gently. A genuine happiness for the pair had crept over her, and she was not keen on ruining the mood of such an occasion. Even so, business was immensely important, and she could not possibly leave it untended. “No reason to stand around asking questions on my end, so, welcome to Inferni,” she offered, a faint smile perched on her scarred muzzle. “I'll leave it to you to show your father around, Cass,” she said, tilting her scarred head forward. She made her leave, turning and heading back to her cave. There was nothing pressing for her there, but her presence here was not necessary; she could see this plainly from the way the pair interacted.

OOC:

Kaena was completely ignored until she spoke, saying she would leave the father and son alone. Cass said nothing, but nodded his head in Amos' chest as he heard Kaena take her steps away. He choked words out of his mouth, trying to respond to his sort-of-long-lost dad. "I'm yer only son, Pa..." he chuckled slightly despite the tears in his eyes.

However there was more business to attend to for Cass. He backed away from the hug to face his father. "What're ya doin' here, Pa? How'ja even git 'ere?" He looked around, as it was only them two in the area. "An' where's Ma? An' Brutus? How come yer alone?" He was hunched over a little, on account of the weight that was on his neck and shoulder because of the sling that hung his broken arm. His dad obviously looked worried about it, but he didn't want to get to that just yet.

Situated in Occasus Promontorium.

"Oh, erm." Ah, so fast to question. His boy had always been bright and inquisitive, so Amos shouldn't have been surprised. The problem was, those weren't questions Amos could just answer. It wouldn't be kind of the old wolf to so blatantly answer them. No, there needed to be a better setting, better then on the edge of a territory, with painted skulls abundant.

"'ow 'bout you ahnd me go and git us a drink, first? 'Fore we get inta all the gritty dehtails." That seemed like a pretty good way to spill the news. Relaxed, one on one, inside. No world peering in to see the father as he shared bad news with his already injured son. Biting his lip, Amos hoped that Cassius wouldn't be hurt too much by learning that his mother had passed.

It had been quite a while for Amos, since Less died. Oh, what a lovely woman she'd been. Beautiful, sweet, and strong. It was still hard to think of how easily that disease took her, with only a few days of symptoms preceding that stroke she suffered. It had been hard on Amos then, and it would probably be hard on Cassius now.
